Service was top notch, everything we order we devoured. The duck liver mousse, beef tartare, pork terrine, lamb ribs, spatzle, hanger steak, salads and squash, on top of two desserts the chocolate cake was the clear winner but the goat milk custard was intriguing. Orange wine was delicious. Will be back frequently.
We had a lovely time at Franklin with our squad. 6 of us, lots of conversation, cocktails, shared plates and good selection on the menu for particular folks like myself.

First time at the Franklin...won't be the last. Great food, great ambiance, great service. From BBQ pecans, to beef tartare to snapper in a cilantro & okra chilled broth...whoa, damned fine.

Exceptional food! We arrived early enough to get the happy hour drink and apps. The raw oysters were served with a mignonette sauce. My trout was cooked to perfection.
This place was awesome! Great food, great service in a pleasant atmosphere. Such a nice change from the tourist trap of the Bourbon St. area.
We were regulars until now. Service was awful. Pretty sure the waiter forgot to punch in the order. Food took forever. Cold dishes (raw tuna/beef tartare) came out hot, and hot dishes came out cold. Manager was so snarky and didn’t come help the situation for 30 minutes. Waiter tried to avoid us the entire time after we complained.
Everything was excellent, from the margaritas, to the appetizers to the salads to the entrees.
So glad they reopened! And we had Charmaine as our waitress again too. We’ll be back many more times I’m sure.
Friendly atmosphere, good staff, terrific food and loved looking at the art on the walls.
Horrible food and service. We waited about half an hour to be seated for a reservation done a day before even if tables were empty. Then there were no fries to accompany the burger as they had run out of fries. They had run out of red wines too and snidzel . Food arrived an hour and fifteen minutes later . By then no one was hungry and to top it off my roasted chicken was raw ... so unhappy
The food here is outstanding, the pork 6 ways with greens were the best I have eaten.

The service ruined the experience. If I were the chefs, I'd be pretty upset that the solid meal I delivered was so very tainted by horrible service from start to finish. The hostess might as well have closed the door in our face. She was totally unwelcoming and dour. Then we went to the bar for a drink. Bartender #1 was surly. It was as if we'd done something to offend him by sitting down. Bartender #2 was much friendlier and proceeded to gouge us by offering a choice of liquor for a mixed drink without telling us the upcharge would be 2x any other cocktail on the menu. $50 for two cocktails?! From there we went to the table where service was unattentive. We left having dropped $300+ and feeling totally taken. With all the great options in NOLA, skip The Franklin.
Speakeasy feel. Complete but somewhat limited menu. All small bites great, especially the tuna carpaccio. Imaginative cocktail menu.
Great all around experience. Already made reservations to dine there again.
This is the most underrated restaurant in all of New Orleans.
The Brussels sprouts and octopus are two of the best dishes I have ever had.
We got our appetizers and the crudo and oyster dishes were fresh and good. The bad part is when we went without food for AN HOUR because we were waiting for the entree to come out. I think they should have told us in advance that the short rib dish would take a long time. We were starving and we could have ordered something else. Now, when we finally got the short rib dish, we were excited. It tasted good BUT half the dish was 100% fat!!! So we threw half of it away :( ... we were also charged for a drink that I did not like based on the waiter’s recommendation, he took it with him AND charged me for it... :( oh and I sliced my thumb with one of their forks really bad and made me bleed quite a bit but I was already horrified with the wait time and the short rib dish that I didn’t think much of it. I think this restaurant has potential but I definitely saw many loose ends that they could fix up.
They worked 6 of us in early vs 4 of us late which we appreciated. Struggled a little bit with speed of service - they were slammed. The food wasn’t the absolute best New Orleans, or the Bywater has to offer, but we liked the vibe and enjoyed the neighborhood.
Very disappointed in food. I had chicken with French fries. Chicken ok, fries terrible, soggy strings of potato. My husband had trout. A piece of fish in middle of plate, nothing else on plate, not even a garnish. Black on one side and quite dry. He had yams for a side, they had vinegar of some sort on them, an odd thing on a veg liked for its natural sweetness.
We shared octopus as an app. Overlooked and dotted with hunks of potato, a very visually unappealing dish.
We had a great dinner at The Franklin, sharing several small plates from the happy hour and regular menu as well as a fantastic bottle of Orange wine and some house cocktails. I will definitely be back to try more from the menu! Our server was great and it is sure to become a part of our regular neighborhood dining rotation!
Loved it. Excellent service, delicious meal. A pleasant change from traditional New Orleans, but straight in the Marigny. Highly recommend. And get the smoked martini!
We have been back several times since reopening and each has been better than the previous. The menu selections are to our taste to a tee. The food is perfectly prepared and so absolutely flavorful. We highly recommend making this one of your regular dining spots.
Very warm, receptive, informed and professional service. The Chicken is delicious. A welcome addition to the Marigny.

We went on the recommendation of our daughter - Our server, Charmaine (sp) was very attentive and personable. My husband and daughter grazed the appetizers and our entrees were fabulous. (I can't say enough good things about the chicken). Will definitely be back.

I always hesitate to write reviews about restaurants I love- so I don’t steer tourists toward my haunts...! We love the cocktails here, the fun art on the walls, the eclectic menu and POMMES FRITES! Yum. Service is extraordinary and the ambiance is refined but super-friendly. Food is consistently delish. :) This is our go-to for catching supper before a show at the MOH— 2 blocks away !
The food (including specials) was great as always. Going on a weekday evening we had the additional pleasure of the restaurant not being too full so noise levels were much lower than, say, on a weekend night.
We did a bunch of appetizers, all delicious. and I had the gulf fish which was yummy as was the flourless chocolate cake.
Look forward to going again!
Wonderful from beginning to end. Egg plant was incredible and an unexpected home run. Pork tenderloins was tender and savory. This is a great space. Put it on your “foodie” list for your next trip. Journeys outside the quarter and important!
Everything about The Franklin was excellent! Friendly, knowledgeable service, relaxed atmosphere, amazing food ... the Tuna Tostada is superb! There are a lot of small plates and we sampled 4 of them, all excellent. There are only 4 entrees so we each ordered a different one. All were very good. You can’t go wrong here!

An interesting place. Good service, some promising menu options. I had the eggplant, which was excellent. The flourless chocolate cake was definitely calorie-worthy.
J is a great chef! Everything was beautifully prepared and served. The tri color beet salad is amazing, and the chilled avocado and crab soup is worth a visit all by itself. The mussels are just crazy good. Our waiter, Adam, was just great.
A gem of a restaurant for foodies. The menu is smart and inventive. Each dish is distinctly different and delicious, made with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. A number of the dishes feature local fish. Last night's Jerk Gulf Fish was drum served over forbidden rice with tiny bits of pineapple and charred lemon. Yum. It was perfect with my glass of Albarino.
EllaLouise behind the bar is a wonderful mixologist and all the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The people complete the vibe, which manages to be casual and welcoming, yet hip and elegant at the same time.
Even the wine by the glass program offers interesting and well-priced selections (I am in the wine education biz) and it evolves throughout the year so you can keep making new discoveries.
If you're thinking that we love this restaurant, you're right. My husband slid into the bar solo last week while I was out of town. And we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there last night.
