The Franklin Inn
What a great neighborhood spot! Though the vibe is relaxed, the food is gourmet quality! Even the appetizers...great breading on the mozzarella sticks! The sliders are wonderful as well. Service was very attentive without being overbearing. Great job, guys!
Great atmosphere. Good casual food.
Service and greeters were very nice. Had a 2 person table and they moved us to a booth so that we wouldn’t be by the door with the cold air. Place is small, good bar, not a great restaurant, but what we ordered tasted great. I have a feeling the kitchen size means the time for preparation will take longer than usual. I’ll go back, but probably for a 4pm beer.
The portions are plentiful and delicious. Attentive staff. Highly recommended.
One of our favorite casual restaurants in Richmond! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is always tasty. Love the mozzarella sticks, but they run out every other visit (because they are so delish)!
A great time with friends. Love our neighborhood spot!
Excellent food and wonderful service! Priced just right too!!
Deplorable restroom was unventilated and very stuffy. Stairs leading down to restrooms were grimy and kitchen floor looked looked very dirty when I glanced in. Health inspector might need to pay them a visit. Our booth was cramped. Food was better than average but not remarkable. It felt more like a bar than a restaurant. Service was good; our cheerful waitress was doing her best while covering entire restaurant.
Franklin Inn was a cozy spot. The food was decent. Service was decent except the food came out sporadic bursts. Ran out of the beer I was hoping for when I was there. A big distraction for us was a couple making out at the bar. Fine for Saturday night, I guess but not OK for Sunday afternoon with a family sitting two feet away.
Food was good, service was excellent.
The barbecue sandwich was top notch!
Bar patron and bartender could talking loudly for whole restaurant to hear. Bar patron dropped f-bomb several times
We love the Franklin Inn except for this one time. Food was luke warm to cold but the waitress graciously replaced it. The eggs benedict were overdone - more like to hard-boiled eggs. The grilled cheese is usually delicious but not so. Just bland, not much cheese.
We normally dine after a late afternoon movie. This was the first time we had eaten there on a sunday midday. Maybe that had something to do with it.
We'll be back.
Love this place. Super laid back with great food. Only takes us 5 minutes to get there. Close to everything.
Great food and the service was top notch definitely worth a trip back!
Went for Mothers Day Brunch I ordered scrambled eggs with 3 ingredients One ingredient not
available so I said 2 is fine Got an omelet rather than scrambled with cold toast and cold hash
browns. Everyone else got cold grits Server did not say anything about all of basically the same sides left on plates
Celebrating college graduation with family all ages everyone enjoyed it love the building!
Excellent, I will return!
I made a reservation for 8 not realizing we actually had 10 and our table was still perfect for all of us! Our server and bartender were awesome and made sure the drinks kept flowing! Everyone was happy and not to mention all our food was great! We plan regular brunches at different restaurants, and it’s safe to say we’ll definitely go back to the Franklin Inn.
Everybody didn't know our names but in a couple of visits they probably would. Quite small. Kind of a neighborhood corner place. Friendly service. Good, not fancy, food. Not pricey. Went for brunch and enjoyed the visit. would go back.
Great Local Neighborhood Restaurant. Had it not been for Open Table we would never have tried the Franklin Inn. Food was great. We had the Spinach Artichoke Dip as an appetizer and it was fabulous! I would definitely recommend!
Very quaint neighborhood spot!!!! Wait staff very sweet, accommodating, and pretty.
Very good food!!
This was my first visit. The 60 mile drive was worth it. The staff friendly and professional the food yummy
We had a ladies dinner night . The service was excellent from being seated until we finished. The food was delicious . Would definitely go back again
Food and service were good but crowd was strange. VERY neighborhood style place. That’s usually a good thing, but in this case, numerous people at the bar (in a very small space) kept starring at us with scowls as if to say, “what are YOU doing here?” Overtly unfriendly crowd. It went on all evening, making things very uncomfortable. Won’t go back.
We enjoy having a great restaurant within walking distance! Staff is attentive & friendly.
If it wasn't for Open Table, we wouldn't have ever gone. We were in the Scott's Addition area and couldn't get a seat. Got on Open Table to find something close. Able to reserve a table and get right in. Nice neighborhood bar/restaurant and good food!
Service was very good. Food was quite nice. Great pre-theatre spot to dine outside.
Solid, simple place to get a good meal in a good /friendly atmosphere.
This was our first time at this restaurant and it was $5. hamburger night. There was a large crowd standing around the bar. The burgers look great, but we were there for a Valentines dinner. We were seated at the last table, across from the end of the bar and kitchen where all food was prepared. This was our waitress's first night and she did good. We ordered a bottle of wine and this was her first experience at uncorking a bottle, but she did good. We immediately ordered dinner. Our meal was slow arriving, as the kitchen was very busy cooking burgers and it was small. It was OK, but we do not plan to return.
We had 4 people for dinner. One of us was served the wrong dinner which he went ahead and ate. I felt like there should have been some price adjustment for that but it was not offered. The rockfish was very tasty. The fried zucchini was disappointing - a big battered mess with a little sliver of zucchini inside. The wait staff was very nice.
Great local eatery. Very small but inviting. Nice bar with great drinks (my wife loved their bloody mary). Server was wonderful. Owner or perhaps manager checked on us as well. Food was very good. Their spinach dip with pita chips was excellent! The buffalo chicken sandwich was too big to finish but was good (maybe a little too tender - not kidding). Everyone else really enjoyed their meal. We'll be back.
Went there for the low country shrimp and grits. I was their first customer of the morning and they were out of grits.
Franklin Inn is what we wish Stella's would be - a true neighborhood gem!
Awesome atmosphere and food! Service is great too very friendly neighborhood vibe
The food was ordinary but OK for the price; the service good; the atmosphere was about what you'd expect for a local bar with a kitchen but the problem (on a Saturday night) was the the noise level from the bar- very loud.
Really enjoyed the outdoor seating on a casual Monday evening for the steak special! Very relaxed vibes and love that the restaurant is tucked into a neighborhood
1.5 hours to get food. Many dishes not available. Waitstaff really nice.
Food is excellent, as was service. Don't go expecting fancy decor. Do expect to leave satisfied. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.
What a wonderful neighborhood find! I'm from Charlottesville, and was visiting friends in Richmond, VA for the weekend. A long-time friend had recently moved to Richmond and said she was now working here at Hamilton Inn! The bar seating was cosy but ambient, and the big table under the big window was charming. The food was delightful and filling. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the experience. Thanks, Hamilton Inn!
