The Fox and Grapes
Alongside our Chef's Seasonal Dishes we offer a selection of classic English pub food such as fish and chips and that perennial favourite: the Burger. For a real treat, we recommend you try one of our succulent steaks cooked to perfection in our Josper Oven.
We booked for Sunday lunch later in the afternoon. They had run out of any roast meals. We then went to the Britannia in Richmond which hadn't and which was excellent.
We had a table for 5.I requested natural light if poss.I was pleased to see that the table was by the window.Stunning decor.Sadly we waited a considerable time for drinks and food. One dish went back;should of been more.My main was cold.£5 for a tin of sweet potato fries? The food was overpriced for what it was.Service charge already added-fair enough if service was good but it wasn’t.Will not be returning.Better venues locally when available
We were a little disappointed with this restaurant. The service was very slow. The portions were small . I personally did not think it was cavalier for money
The food was delightful! Would highly recommend. Quite pricey but you pay for what you get. The service was a little slow at times but we didn't mind that as we were in no rush. All round a very nice place to visit.
Surly unfriendly waiter.
We think he is the manager or owner. The other waiters and waitresses are all nice.
The dish of the day was superb - a raised chicken ham and leek pie with fabulous pastry and absolutely delicious filling, served with beautifully smooth mashed potatoes and sprouts. And to follow, a scrumptious toffee sponge pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Both perfect for an autumn lunch time. Walked off some of the calories on return walk to Wimbledon windmill.
Great Sunday lunch - everything perfect
Good and well presented. Fish of the day - skate - was strangely tough but still tasted very good
Would recommend the Fox and Grapes we had a lovely time, great food and nice location on the Common.
Staff is friendly and good service. However, a little disappointed on the food. We had full English breakfast. The bacons are too dry, others are fair Tea is nice though. However, the price is too high. At that price level, I would expect a higher standard of food. Also, I suggest they review the meat veggies ratio. At the moment, too much meat (two sausages and a lot of bacon). More tomatoes and add mushroom would be better.
Very poor food quality. Pretty expensive for what you get..
Wouldn’t recommend at the moment
Staff not knowledgeable enough about wines or beers
Birthday with a friend
Always a pleasure eating at Fox & Grapes..
Great venue, really good food and a decent atmosphere. So popular on a Sunday that it feels a little crowded and the staff are running around a lot to accommodate everyone but don’t let that put you off. Superb!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food as always. Nice cosy pub on a gloomy day!
Service was very slow. Food was good but menu limited and hard to find something we really fancied. Very expensive for what it was. Used to be much better - more choice, better service and better value. Shame because it’s a lovely pub
Staff on the floor a bit overwhelmed but service very good. Reasonable ambiance but table was getting dropped on by a malfunctioning AC unit. Sadly no vegetarian roast option but food was good, if a little overpriced.
Love coming here - the staff are really lovely and accommodating. Food is great!
Service very friendly but food pretty poor. Sirloin roast cold, gravy like water with no flavour, vegetables undercooked. Burger was very overdone and dry. Puddings excellent though!
We were disappointed with both the service and the food on our visit. We were a large party so were seated in the pub part rather than the restaurant so it seemed like we were often forgotten about even though it was 3/4pm on a Sunday afternoon. The food was not great.
This restaurant used to be lovely but has really gone downhill in terms of food and value for money. Don't think I will be going back any time soon.
Been here often before and really enjoyed it, but this past Sat was extremely poor. Charred meat, overdone fries, and watery gravy. Added to that was pretty poor / abrupt service. Getting told at 10.30pm that the coffee machine was 'switched' off was a bit odd. Overall pretty poor
Nice place but please start taking Amex!
Very enjoyable evening food and service were excellent, we were even given a free glass of bubbly as it was our anniversary.
Definitely the best restaurant in the village and yes, that includes Ivy Cafe! No more to say except that we’re going back in Friday. A great place.
Food was good but not as good as it used to be. It’s a shame as the food there used to be a destination reason. Same thing with the service. It was good but seemed to have slipped since we were there last time. Even the tables looked a bit dirty and we had to ask them to be wiped down.
We went on a very busy Sunday and the food service was incredibly slow, it took over an hour from ordering to get our main course.
The staff were friendly but more communication would have made this less frustrating.
Overall a lovely place in a beautiful location- perhaps we just picked an off day.
Slow service , very average food. Took forever to gets kids food, high chairs etc organised. We wouldn’t go back for the food
One of the meals hadn't been written down by the waiter so was missed/arrived late and I wouldn't rate the Roast dinners - not enough veg, potatoes were dry and generally not worth £20
Went for brunch and was excellent!
This is my favourite pub lunch for a Sunday. They are super friendly with my therapy dog and the food is amazing. Actually this is simply my favourite place to eat or drink.
Great meal. Relaxed atmosphere. Good service. Get the fried courgettes.
Good experience! They were lovely about it being my birthday. And everyone enjoyed their food. Very solid gastropub experience.
I have been to the Fox and Grapes before and it felt like the usual standards had slipped tonight. Service was slow, drinks orders were not fulfilled correctly, the table was sticky and the two medium rare steaks which were ordered arrived well done.
Excellent service and food in a really lovely setting. We were delighted to discover that dogs are welcome and will return again with ours! The menu is quite short but both children and adults found something they liked
Great service and food. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Perfect for Sunday lunch.
Not sure about the change of menu. was known locally for very good Pub food. possibly trying to go too up market. Worth giving a try to see if it is to your taste.
As a Wimbledon resident I have frequently been in here for drinks, for which it is really nice.
Went for Sunday lunch and was incredibly poor. Food was unimpressive (mine was cold and undercooked). One of our meals didn’t even come at all as they had forgotten it. We didn’t even get an apology.
I would probably avoid-the village has plenty of much better pubs.
Sadly after many great meals at the Fox we had a nightmare as something went wrong with the kitchen. Food took over an hour to come and was cold on arrival. They very graciously gave a big discount to overcome whatever the challenge was and the staff managed well in difficult times.
