While we are in the process of our lobby transformation, join us in Fountain daily from 4 pm - 10 pm for a bite, perfectly paired with a glass of wine or libation from our signature cocktail list.
We took friends (who we rarely get to see) to The Fountain for brunch, and we were really glad we did. The restaurant is bright and airy, and quiet. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the lemon blueberry pancakes, and they were amazing. The crispy bacon was perfectly done. I also was impressed by the coffee. Not only was it really good, they also left an elegant thermal carafe full on our table so we could refill our cups when we were ready. The staff were efficient, and friendly, but also gave us the space to enjoy our conversation with friends, which was really appreciated. The service was prompt, so I think this would be a great place for a business lunch, as well as being excellent for brunch.
We had brunch while the hotel was under construction, and the dining room setup to handle both hotel guests and walk-in diners. The restaurant is open and contemporary. The food was very good and the service was excellent and very accommodating.
This place is just not that great. Service is hit or miss, food rather bland and so-so. Will not go back
I made a reservation on OpenTable only to find put they have open seating and no reservation needed. Picked out a table and received our menus. Once we ordered our food, I realized why this restaurant is empty. I ordered the Turkey Panini sandwich, and it was terrible! The bread tasted like it was a week old, the turkey meat from a package. Very unimpressive for the $17 price tag. My friend ordered the Caesar Salad, and she said it was just okay. Our original waiter let us know he was going on his lunch break so introduced us to a young waitress to takeover our table. We never saw her again! After standing up to flag an employee down, we asked what happened to our waitress? The busboy rolled his eyes and said she was in the office on her cell phone. Too many good restaurants downtown San Jose to waste it on this restaurant. Management needs to step it up.
Sunday brunch at the Fountain is always great. The buffet spread is amazing and service very crisp. It is a very good value for all-you-can-eat brunch buffet with a great ambiance and location. The inclusion of super fresh oysters, sushi, sashimi etc... to the spread just makes it a great value.
Table wasn’t fully set. Had to wait a long time for service even though there were only a few full tables. So cold I had to leave my coat on. Sad to see this at a Fairmont.
For Fairmont hotel standard, the food and service is not to par. Breakfast buffet is limited for the price paid; some of the food is out and the staff don't bother to refill.
This was Sunday brunch. The restaurant needs to manage reservations better. We arrived a few minutes early and were told there were no tables and they didn’t know when there would be one! The person seating was quite curt. After seating some people who arrived after us I approached her again to see if there was any outlook since we had theater tickets, although we had given ourselves ample time. We were then offered seats at a central large co shared table so we took them. Otherwise service was quite good. We were glad that we took those seats since a table of our own would have been a very long wait. People linger for the buffet and the restaurant should be taking that into account when they take reservations.
Attentive service. Gracious hospitality.
Had the crab cakes. Lots of filler, not much crab. Got the buffet desserts which was fun and a good deal. The room could use a little love. Hopefully it will get a little remodel too.
We were guests at the Fairmont so it was very convenient to have brunch there as well. They offer a nice buffet or you can order from the menu. I thought that prices were very fair and the food was yummy.
Sunday brunch at the Fountain is always very fulfilling. The food and service are both top quality. The food selection is also quite diverse and pleasing.
I treated my family to the Thanksgiving buffet at the Fountain restaurant in the Fairmont. Our expectations were high, we were so excited for a delicious meal. But to our disappointment the turkey and ham were DRY, the gravy and holandaise sause had run out. The steak was good when I wasnt spitting out chunks of fat. I really had to dig! I felt bad because my kids and boyfriend were not looking too happy about it. Even the chicken apple sausage was disappointing. We enjoyed the Eggs benedict, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes the french toast and salmon were exceptionally delicious! The desserts were okay. I was hoping for good pumpkin pie, but just got mushy crusted miniature pie. The tiramisu was moist and semi fresh. Thank goodness something was good but we could have eaten breakfast anywhere else for @$30/each. Could it be that because we got a 2:00 reservation we got the butt of the Thanksgiving items? Sure seemed that way.
The positive side was the Waiter, older man with silver hair. He was great! He wanted us to have a good experience, he got us anything we needed right away and was very sweet. He set the TV on the football game, got us clean silverware everytime on time. The waitress got me fresh coffee right away. Of course, we were few tables they had to wait on and they probably knew the food wasnt that good so they were working to compensate for that. The man seemed so over eager to make us happy. My boys felt so bad I was spending so much on a meal. They saw $385 on the register and laughed and said"who would pay tgat much for this meal? " I said that is how much our bill is too. They felt so bad, because it was clear none of us enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal. I just said at least we had good service and ambiance. I feel a little better reviewing this unsatisfying meal.
Turkey was dry, gravy was cold. Sushi was okay. Pastries were hard and not fresh. Food in general was not warm. Service was great. Sad Thanksgiving for me.
Took my wife here for birthday brunch. Food and staff both good.
Buffet is bit pricey.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Fountain and will definitely recommend it to others.
We love The Fountain and always receive great service from Kim at the front desk and the wait staff are always accommodating!
We were in town for a wedding and stayed at the Fairmont. It was pretty pricy but as many reviewed suggested we skipped the buffet and ordered from the menu. Food was good and service was great. Managers stopped by to check on us and chat. Very friendly staff. My husband had the huevos rancheros & I had the eggs Benedict and both were great. We did thx unlimited bloody Mary’s and they were strong and worth the price.
Plentiful and varied food. Valet parking only in hotel, or walk to nearby garage.
Between The Fountain’s decor, lighting and seating area, you’ll find helpful, attentive and friendly staff who will serve you fantastic champagne coupled with brunch options. If you’re a local, you owe it to yourself to discover this place for a great start to your Saturday, and if you’re a traveler you won’t be disappointed and possibly won’t find a better place where your money is more appropriately spent.
We were a little surprised how small the buffet was, but the food being offered looked great. We decided to order from the menu and opted for the Bottomless Bloody Marys. The food was truly top quality, surpassed only by the service. The main server said he has worked there 23 years. He loves his job, and that is evident by how he treats everyone.
Sometimes we forget that the persons serving you can really make All the difference in your experience. To make my point even clearer - Even if the food was just average, I’d still go there again.
My only regret was that I finished the second double-shot Bloody Mary. Thank god for Uber!!
We arrived and were promptly seated. The dining room was very clean and the staff attentative.
We had the Sunday brunch which had a variety of offerings including sushi, pastries, cold foods (e.g., brie, salami, prosciutto, oats and yougurt, cut-up fruit), hot foods (sausages, fish, french toast, roasted potatoes), desserts and made to order omelets, pancakes and waffles. Juices and coffee are included. At $45 per person, a bit pricey, but it fit our needs.
I liked that the buffet trays were relatively small, but they were constantly being replenished which meant the food was fresh and not standing in the trays for an extended time.
Paul was amazing he took very good care of us excellent service! We choose to have breakfast here before our play wicked at performing arts . We had a delicious Brunch with unlimited mimosa believe me Paul made sure are glasses stayed full excellent service made us feel so special for my birthday. Great location too for breakfast or any special event with friends. The chef even came out to ask us how everything was that’s never happened to me before I can’t wait to go back
Food and service was very good, but pricey. $45 for the brunch buffet seems overboard. Regular menu items were in the $15 range which seems more reasonable, albeit on the higher side, for breakfast. They were attentive to my note about a member of our party with a soy allergy, which was nice to see.
Kim the hostess is the best and deserves a raise!
Special thanks to Gabriela and Alberto! Thank you so much for taking such good care of us and making my birthday so special!
Just get the buffet! Order your omelette or eggs however you like 'em and eat from the buffet as much as you like. They encourage you to do so!
We had a very pleasant breakfast at the Fountain. Good quality and quantity of food--the Eggs Benedict were tasty and the bowl of fresh berries was outstanding. Our server, Sergio, was wonderful--pleasant and very efficient.
Food was good and not too expensive. Lots for good choices. Service was excellent!
What a wonderful experience for my birthday brunch. The food was fresh and wonderfully prepared. I especially loved the eggs Benedict as they were made to perfection! The prime rib roast was also another favorite. There was a great variety of options and the staff were incredibly helpful and on-point with excellent service. I look forward to returning for a future meal.
While the restaurant was good. A lot of people were sleepy, in their gym clothes with luggage. Felt like I was at the airport instead of a good breakfast place.
Service was very good. Everyone was friendly and nice.
Shocked to see gratuity added automatically to 3 ppl when usually it’s for a bigger group.
The food was good, and the space was bright and happy, but the server was officious, and kept hovering around as if listening to our conversation. His facial expression was also quite hardened and unhappy, like we owed him something. The table wasn't clean, and he didn't bring us enough syrup, juice refills, water, or even the basics. The price was also way too high, and the receipt wasn't itemized. Not good value, and the server was a jerk.
All good. AC / Heating did not work. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.
Thank you very much for your review. I am sorry that the Ac/ Heating put a damper on a great experience. We will be sure to follow up with our team and make sure all aspects are 5 stars moving forward! -Arun Malik
Great location, wonderful service, okay food, a bit noisy for a breakfast meeting. Still ... a successful meeting gives it a glow. The hosts and servers are super-accommodating, so thank you!
Went here to try a different spot. The food was just alright, nothing spectacular. Opted not to have the buffet and had eggs Benedict. My son got eggs ranchero and looked good. He ate the whole thing. They have bottomless mimosa and body mary’s for $25.
The Fountain bunch was great. The only concern I have is that I did not get a confirmation on my reservation.
We were the only customers in the restaurant and had very poor service; couldn't seem to get attention. Then the server couldn't answer our questions, which seemed odd. Food took a long time; drinks took a long time. There appeared to be a nice selection on the menu, and they were able to accommodate gluten free, which is a positive, but the food was not exceptional.
Brunch choices not great. Small space around table. Bathroom dirty, service bad.
delightful birthday celebration at Sunday brunch. Great food and service, including accommodations for a toddler and small child.
