We got in late due to airline delays... but we had a reservation. The service was just terrible. After having to wait 45 minutes for all of our food including our appetizer that was delivered with the entrees... we heard the manager talk to almost every table that she apologized for the long wait... we were the last table there, one of the waiters just looked at us and shook his head... I guess wanting us to leave. We ate as fast as we could it just took so long for our meal.... really disappointed. Will never go back.
Loved the Fountain Lounge. The service was spot on. Sunday brunch was exceptional.
Originally we were placed right at the front near the band. It was far too loud for conversation and after much discussion we chose a table at the back. It was perfect! Our waiter was delightful, charming, polite and very professional. Food was great but grilled salad could have used a more flavorful dressing. Brussel sprouts were the best I have had...ever! I would definitely go back!
The wine is waaaay over priced. Way too expensive for the tiny pours.
he Fountain Lounge brings a touch of new-world sophistication, while offering subtle nods to the timeless elements of the hotel. The Sazerac Bar harks back to the days when legendary Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long called The Roosevelt home. Sip classic cocktails and dine on fine cuisine in these historic venues surrounded by original artworks. Pay a visit to Chef John Besh's award-winning Domenica restaurant where Italian fare is prepared with passion and served in an atmosphere that embraces a laid-back Mediterranean attitude to life.
Music was nice at a perfect sound level, waiter didn't come around much. I personally think the restaurant needs more food choices
While the dining area was relaxed and enjoyable, the service was uneven and awkward at times. There was a sizeable delay between appetizers and entrees . The crab and crawfish au gratin was a delicious and the highlight of an otherwise average meal.
Good service. Good ok but not memorable. Good location for concerts at Saenger
Reviews we read were consistent w our experience. Food is good. Bar is good. Live music was good. Service - NOT good. Gentleman at table next to us went 30 mins before his server came back to his table. People on other side of us had to go to bar to pay check Bc waitress disappeared. Doubtful would ever go here again. Shame Bc great location and historic hotel
What a Christmas Disappointment! Sure you can't beat the Roosevelt lobby for a festive Christmas meal, but stay away from the Fountain Lounge. We made our reservations for Christmas night early in the season and were never made aware there would be a prix fix menu for a whopping $80 per person. Probably could have lived with that except that the food was just plain mediocre, and the main course was just plain bad. We have dined here before with great trio playing and delicious food reasonably priced. Too bad the management fell down on the job for such a special night for us. So sorry Christmas 2016 put a bad taste in our mouths for what was once a terrific little gem.
Christmas dinner menu choices were excellent butternut squash was excellent but a little salty the grouper and risotto was excellent
Great place for a happy get together. Food was great. Noise was just overwhelmingly loud. Difficult to speak to and hear what the waiter was saying.
Over hyped; over priced. Food is nothing special. Alcoholic mixed beverages are over priced and flat tasting (the Ramos Fizz is a total bust). Very noisy. Seating is not comfortable and restaurant NOT conducive to lingering.
The food is very good and drinks are great.
Enjoyed the entertainment and the service was great. Food good also
Service is very slow. Do not expect a dining experience with the prices you pay there. Food is okay definitely better at other we'll known places in NOLA. The light display at the Roosevelt for Christmas is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately this restaurant does not do any favors to the hotel!
Went here for thanksgiving dinner. The food was wonderful and all the choices on the fixed price menu for this occasion were delicious.
My husband and I were seated next to a party of 12 loud women. I immediately asked maitre de if he could move us elsewhere so we could talk and he said no. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress and when she came I asked her for a drink and change of seat. She got the manager and she quickly found us a nicer corner table at other side of room. We were happy with that. Our new waitress left us after delivering dinner and we never could get her back. We asked waiters walking by for anything needed, like more water. Same thing with the bill. She got it and left us for 20 minutes.
Stopped in for an early dinner. Food was great and plenty of seating. Make sure you go down the hall to the Sazerac Bar and have a Sazerac cocktail.
Food was phenomenal and service was pure Southern hospitality!
I love the ambiance and charm of the restaurant. It makes a special night memorable, however, may I add that the live music, although I love it, was too loud to share a conversation at the table. If this is fixed the place is superb!
Although titled on open table as creole southern this is a basic hotel restaurant with a predictable menu of standard hotel fair. The room is pretty, the waitstaff were perhaps understaffed and doing their best, the food underpar and expensive.
We eat here before we go to a show at the Saenger. Every time, the service is way off the mark. I can't figure out what the problem is. While the food is usually very, very good, this time my burger was overcooked-I ordered it med rare and it came med well. On a positive note, the pork belly appetizer was amazing.
I have dined at the Fountain Lounge many times. We usually go after attending mass at the Jesuit church on Sundays. I think the service has gotten better lately. Keep doing whatever you're doing.
Great for brunch. Inside the The Roosevelt - Waldorf Astoria. Service and food were excellent.
The wine by the 1/2 glass was annoying and too expensive. It was an insult. Just price it by the glass and avoid the confusion. This was followed by an overcooked (medium?) hamburger. Something was not right in the back of the house. The server did a great job and we will try again.
Overall experience was terrific, but it was very expensive. Go there expecting a great meal and drinks, and a terrific environment. Just be prepared to pay a lot.
Brussel sprouts- enough said. We love coming here during weekends as they have live music. Order small plates and share away!
Great place for to have her Bday party and proposal all in one!!!!!!!
thanks fountain lounge
This was my staff of 6 Christmas luncheon. The Winter Wonderland display in the Hotel entrance was magnificent. The Fountain itself could have had more festive holiday accents. The wait service was pleasant and accommodating, and the food was very good. Overall, it was a good dining experience.
Cheese board is fantastic!
Once again and referring to the three-course pre-theater dinner menu, the food quality was very good and very satisfying. No disappointments with this aspect of the dinner. Service from Olivia was good and properly attentive; also, Lindsey (a server we had on a previous visit) stopped over to see us and say hello (VERY NICE). The wine list could be improved and the noise level from the bar needs to be addressed.
On line stated the pre show menu was $35, but when we ordered it was $50.
It would have been nice to have some bread with the excellent meal.
Food was not good for anywhere much less the Roosevelt. I had the burger for brunch and it was dried out even the bun was not good. It had a weird taste. The wine was good and so was the dessert. It was the amber Abita cheesecake. The service was good and loved the look of the place. Oh the chicken gumbo was not edible. My husband could not eat it. Won't go back for food. Sad but true.
We enjoyed the Fountain Lounge. Visiting the historic Roosevelt Hotel was a real treat, too. The food was excellent, especially enjoyed the brussels sprouts (believe it!). Our server, Lindsay, was wonderful, and she even got me the recipe for the sprouts. Be aware that this restaurant features live music. The trio was excellent, but forget about holding a conversation. A great place to go with friends.
We dine here frequently before shows at the Saenger Theater. The food is always great; they have a pre theater menu so you can dine and get to the show on time. I also always notify them when making the reservation that we have to be out by a certain time to make the show. This time, it appeared the hostess over seated our waiter and he was running around like a madman. I finally had to get the maitre'd. Unfortunately, they brought out the wrong dessert, and I had to wait even longer. We made the show on time, but it was needlessly stressful. To his credit, the maitre'd offered dinner on the restaurant next time.
Went before a show at the Saenger. Pretty slow, guess it was this time of the year. Had 1:45 mins before the show and the service was rather slow. My parents steaks were also slow. Nice place and not my first time there, nor will it be my last. Maybe an off night.
A three-piece band with top musicians was an unexpected surprise. Great food and service. Love this place! Had the gumbo, the redfish, and bread pudding. Can't go wrong.
After being seated promptly at 5:15 PM, our server Lindsey greeted us and on request, brought us the wine list. We advised her that we had tickets for a 7:30 PM LPO performance at the Orpheum. The wine list needs a complete overhaul. For a restaurant of its caliber and setting, the list needs to have a much better selection and overall better wines, though not higher prices. This should not be interpreted to mean the list has to expand to hundreds of bottles; it means the wines being offered should be matched to the foods being served; a mix of familiar varietals/labels and some interesting/unusual offerings; and price points that span multiple price ranges (3 and 4 time markups aren't helpful). Now the service, Lindsey took great care of us and all was well UNTIL she got pulled away to work another event midway through our dinner service; no one advised us of the change, a new server was assigned, and service plummeted. We barely made it our LPO seats on time.
Fun place for a drink and a good time. Lots of people to watch and be watched by. Close to all the action. Great atmosphere too!
