Best dining in the state of Utah! No one comes close!
Food was good. . Ambience was wonderful...very quaint and warm. Service was pretty good. Prices seemed high but it is a niche and they can do this. Did enjoy our night there
I took my parents to dinner on a Sunday night. My Mom uses a walker and the staff was very patient and helpful to her. The restaurant was cozy and the food was delicious. My three year old loved the mac n cheese. It's pricey but it was a special night out so it was worth it.
We drove over an hour and a half to find this unexpected gem open on a Sunday evening. Best selections were the sweet potato ravioli and the Utah trout. One of our party, a vegetarian, thoroughly enjoyed the one veggie entree offered. The warm bread was delicious and merited a second helping.
The ambiance was chic après-ski despite the warm October temperatures.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and decided that yes, it was well worth the journey.
The Foundry Grill never disappoints. Excellent fresh, locally sourced food. Great location, Sundance is a gem in Utah county.
Food took over an hour to get to us after ordering. Food was cold and lacked flavor. The ribs came out looking and tasting more like a roast and the huckleberry sauce was a weird combination (probably better hot). The raviolis were undercooked and very mildly flavored. The mashed potatoes were cold and thick. The trout was actually pretty good, just room temperature though. The soup of the day (seafood) was decent. I've heard about how great this place can be but for a first timer and for a special birthday it was quite the letdown.
As a visitor from the UK, colleagues told me I should drive the Alpine loop and stop off for a meal at the Sundance resort for brunch. However, I couldn’t reserve a table for brunch on the day I was visiting. So, I decided to book for an evening meal. I ordered the Elk Osso Bucco and mashed potato. The Elk was over cooked and certainly not as tender as the veal versions I previously eaten. The most irritating part was that there was no marrow spoon to get at the key element this dish is named after. The parsnips were undercooked for my liking and cold. The mashed potato was very creamy the best part of the dish.
We have dined here many times, this occasion we were bringing friends who were visiting from out of state. Service was not per usual, we had to ask for the bread and had to ask for water refills. Especially disappointing was a Cesear salad we ordered, as we were sitting there a salad was being served out at the Owl Bar, it looked delicious and a very healthy size serving. Several at our table ordered it and it was about
a third of the size we saw previously.....I should have questioned it but it was hard to track down a server.
In the future I will certainly question it.
I was very disappointed with the food and service. I have eaten here once before and liked it a lot better. My entree this time was totally cold... and really did not love it. Had some soup for appetizer and also was just ok, not great. apple pie did not love...and also cold. not sure we will return again for the expense I was disappointed and I wished more for a birthday celebration for husband. Love the atmosphere, however.
We had a great experience. The ambiance was charming. If seated in the main dining area, it can get a bit noisy, but we we're tucked back in a lovely corner. Our waitress was wonderful. The food was very good. Although I didn't care for the Tusacn Salad, the chartcuterie board was fabulous. My husband had the Elk osso buco, which was delicious. I had the Bolognese, Which I thought was good, but $36 was a bit much for a bowl of pasta. All in all, it was wonderful and we will be going back for special occasions.
Birthday, they brought a dessert with a candle.
We had a lovely dinner here. It was surprisingly very crowded on a Monday night, but fortunately not that loud. Service was a little slow, but we personally like that, as we dislike feeling like we are being rushed. We asked to be seated by the window and we were. We brought a bottle of wine with us and corkage was only $20. The food was delicious. The bread was really good. My trout was delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his filet which was also cooked correctly. Great ambience. A near perfect experience overall. Highly recommended if staying at or near Sundance.
It was a perfect quiet evening! Great food, service and atmosphere... Plus Mr. Redford was there... What more could you as for...
I really expected a better quality of food and was not very impressed with it. The Caesar Salad was full of whole anchovies and was horrible. I understand you use anchovies in the dressing but the whole fish in the salad ruined it. The trout was ok but actually over cooked. Overall very disappointing.
We loved this restaurant so much we went back the next night with some friends!
Food was excellent and so was the service, surroundings were comfortable and interesting. We will definitely return for special ocassions.
The Sundance Foundry Grill is a treat to the palate. The Grill is nestled in a grove of Aspens peaking through large windows. The culinary staff continues to create diverse menus for their guests. Lunch Appetizers (Charcuterie, my favorite), Salads are artistic and healthy, sample Entrees: fresh fish, pasta with veggies, Chicken or Wagu Beef. Rustic cabin decor with beautifully painted wall murals. Order a glass of Sundance wine! You'll feel Robert Redford's personal touch all around you. Reservations are recommended. Wheelchair accessible. No snow - take a ride on the chairlift and bring your camera. Magical! Beautiful year round.
First time to Utah... wanted to visit Sundance and experience it all
Wasn't as pleased with the food this year. For the past 3 years we have been eating our Anniversary di ne at the Foindry Grill, the food wast as food as in Years past.
Will probably go somewhere else next year.
Found the food quality and quantity lacking for the prices.
It was extremely busy so maybe it's better at times.
Ambiance is amazing. Portions are on the small side, but delicious. The cocktails are very well made and tasty.
Setting and design are outstanding! Creative cuisine and friendly wait staff.
Went for breakfast before the Harvest Festival, very busy, really short staffed, was super busy...waitress was fair, busser was way better! Food great, absolutely love Sundance
Easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. The Food was incredible. Hostess could have been a bit more cordial. Server was on point, my drink was never empty.
We have loved the Foundry grill and been regular patrons for over 20 years. Unfortunately, the quality is (once again) slipping. Food was unremarkable and service lacking.
We got clam chowder with no clams, even after the waitress brought a second bowl. The burger which was my favorite in years past was dry, dense and flavorless. We ordered the chocolate cheesecake with berries and got pumpkin spice instead. All the while prices continue to creep up. If we go, it’s all about the amazing ambiance, not the dining experience.
Service was slow, 15 min behind to seat us. I ordered an Angel Hair Pasta but they used Ramen noodles. The fries that came with the burger we ordered were burnt. I would have sent it back but we were celebrating a special night and I didn't want to ruin it by having to deal with their shortcomings.
When asked at the end of the meal, I shared my opinion. I was told that several people had complained.
Well, after complaints, they still decided that it was ok to serve us a subpar meal.
Overall it was very disappointing for the price we were charged.
Not going back any time soon.
It was my first time eating at the Foundry Grill. We had a great time. Great weather, great staff, great flatbread!
Had an amazing evening! The food was excellent...a taste sensation! Will return!
We loved the food at The Foundry Grill. It was a great atmosphere with excellent service. The angel hair pasta was amazing.
We ate outside, and I understand this is a mountain setting, but each of our plates had between 25-50 small bugs crawling all over the surface. It took us a very long time to get our food. We heard other patrons complaining that they hadn't received their food either. It's a great location, but the food was overpriced, the plates were dirty, and the service was slow. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants where I took business clients, but it has gone downhill terribly in the last few years. I doubt I'll be going back again.
Super slow service from checking in to ordering to getting your check.
Excellent . We really enjoyed our meal! Good selection and everything tasted delicious
The food is delicious every time we’ve been there. The setting is beautiful. Love this restaurant.
Fun but a little pricey. The food was good but not great. I feel like ruths chris is pricey but the good u.s amazing, however the ambience is not as good there. The foundries food was good good but not as phenomenal as the price was, however the ambience was as good or better as any high end restaurant we have ever been to
Great food in a delightful setting with great service and a good selection on the menu.
Waiter was terrible, guest next to us sent the burger back 2x due to being under cooked, and our burger was not good. Might want to train wait staff and burger for 17$ should hand made from fresh meat not frozen Patty. Sundance is definitely slipping. Waiter Riley was not attentive. Did not bring ketchup until he was reminded twice - by then fries were cold.
Food was amazing, but slow. Waiter recognized this as treated us to a free dessert.
Delicious as usual! My only complaint is the parking situation. We had to park in the upper lot and take a shuttle down. They should have designated parking for the restaurants!!
Beautiful setting good dinner - especially on the patio. Highly recommended!
