What an amazing meal! Romantic, quiet - sat in front of the fireplace @ watched the gorgeous snow fall. The sweet potato ravioli was a treat that you would expect at The Tree Room. The filet mignon in mushroom sauce was perfect. Our waitress was very attentive & pleasant. I would highly recommend the Foundary Grill.
Quite possibly the best food I have eaten in the state of Utah. I really do not have many restaurants in Utah that I consider amazing but this truly was excellent. Ordered 2 appetizers and an entree which were all superb. My wifes salad was just ok but we both loved everything else. Atmosphere is great as well, we will be back for the roasted Brussels Sprouts which should be required to order with every meal. Worth the trip and a great date night destination.
We had a wonderful time! Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back!
Sundance is wonderful. But the food is too expensive compared to many high end restaurants. Keeps us from going as often as we used to. At least the menu is much better than it was for a while there. They do need to bring the pork chop back and the Calzone.
Compared with a few years ago, the quality of the brunch menu has disappointed. What used to be an interesting, varied gourmet menu, has become a very ordinary, predictablke one that we could get elsewhere food half the price. Friends suggested we start gooito ngStein Ericson lodge buffet instead, as they have.
Sunday brunch is amazing!!
The ambiance was lovely, the service great, the food outstanding. Would definitely return...
Thanks for making a snowy afternoon the best.
Cute place but service is kind of poor. I thought the service was a bit slow due to the crowds at dinner a couple nights before breakfast service (with very few patrons at the time) was slow. (Where are the servers hiding?) All of the servers were very nice, most of the food was fairly good. My daughter ordered the babyback ribs at dinner a few nights prior and was very disappointed. The was almost no meat with all of the fat. The server refunded half the cost of the meal, which was kind, but all we wanted was a decent meal.
We were at Sundance over New Years so the crowds may have been exceptionally heavy. There are only 2 restaurants, a bar (21 yrs old and above only), and a take out counter for food. Reservations for a sit down dinner were almost a must (or you eat at the take out counter). Its time for Sundance to expand their eating options...or expand their seating (maybe move the take out counter to the Rehearsal Hall?).
Sundance and the Foundry Grill are an experience and we treasure our time here
Love the atmosphere. We come here frequently so we can be in the mountains. It’s a great destination and much closer to us than Park City. Two of our dishes had far too much garlic one was so over-garliced we sent it back to be remade. I had a delicious salad but bit into more than one pecan shell in my salad which is like biting into sand. I let them know so others wouldn’t have this experience. The server was nice but didn’t seem to really care which was disappointing. I usually have a better overall experience here.
Double date for the Holidays. Food and drinks were great. Our server, Erin, was amazing. Love this place.
Please, please, please, resolve your ridiculous internet access. This is supposedly a world class destination. How can you seriously expect business people, MOVIE people, or deal makers to attend when you can't get a decent signal?....oh wait, you can if you pay $10 for the "good" signal not the free one that sucks. And then when you do pay and they give you a password the password doesn't work....or maybe it did but you were too confused to figure out which one was which but even when you try the ONLY one that asks for a password the one they gave you doesn't work. Then the lady, the only person you have contact with who greets you says "sorry, the IT guys all leave at 5.00 o'clock....BUT BECAUSE I ANTICIPATED THE TYPICAL POOR TRAINING AT MOST UTAH ESTABLISHMENTS I had called ahead knowing that is what I'd be told if I encountered any wifi problems and was told yes, they leave at 5.00 but are available on their phones. When I informed the lady of this of course miraculously she was able to get in touch of IT who created another password.
Now to the restaurant. When we were seated we asked the man who poured our water what was good here. He said he didn't know because he hasn't eaten here. ....Problems always come from the top down. Whoever is in charge try to overcome your Utahness and teach EVERYONE to pick something on the menu to say is the best....it doesn't matter what it is, but when you see the wonderful decor, the atmosphere etc and you're on this romantic high of Sundance it breaks the spell to be told that a guy working there hasn't eaten their own food and can't even recommend anything. It just took the wind out of the fantasy of being in this magical place. So, management, do your job and create the illusion and don't let anyone ever see behind the curtain. Teach everyone to LIE if they have to but just say the Prime Rib or the Salmon. That will carry on the mistque and whet the appetite and anticipation of the meal to come...
Overall loved it tho!
Sunday brunch is our favorite. Great ambiance anytime of year. We love that Sundance has remained quaint. They also have their own line of wines that are delicious.
Great service and great food! I took my husband here for a surprise date night and we both enjoyed everything so much.
Great service and food. Our waitress was very professional. We split a meal and they brought it out on separate plates with plenty of everything.
Loved it! Best place to eat for miles around. The ambience and the service are wonderful!
Great evening, food and service. Love this place each time I visit!
We wanted to sit by the fireplace (all tables in that room were empty) but they told us we couldn’t because it was reserved for a private party. So they sat us right next to the waiter’s station🙃. Then the private party arrived and went into a completely different room from the room with the fireplace..... the tables we were hoping for were then slowly filled with regular families of four like us😥. It was a special occasion for our family... and we drove an hour to be there... so just a bummer that we were immediately told “no” when the hostess was wrong and got the nosiest and least cozy table in the restaurant😓
We have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. It’s one of our favorites.
We come every year to celebrate Thanksgiving with our family. Some years, 6, one year 12 of us. This year our group of 4 had a lovely corner table. Always special, great food, service--attentive st the level you want. Good wine selection. We love the General Store, too. Great gifts. We look forward to our next visit, thank you.
We were very disappointed in the selection and preparation of the food this year. There was not as big a selection of food as in past years and not well prepared..ex: green beans were cold and hardly cooked..only stuffing available had sausage in it..we don't eat sausage. In past years the TG dinner was wonderful but fell VERY SHORT this year. ;(;( We saw a food handler restack the macaroons with no gloves on and there should be a floor person supervising children whose parents let their children touch all of the stacked plates! It was disgusting. Too bad parents and grandparents cannot control their children. Overall, very disappointed in the dinner for the price charged compared to other TG buffets. Sundance was always a cut above all the others..that is why we traveled from AZ to spend it at Sundance, Foundry Grill but will not do again.
2nd best Thanksgiving Buffet in 20 years! The food this year was amazing. Smoked Eel, crab claws, amazing sausage stuffing (I agree they should have vegan stuffing too), fresh honeycomb, made to order omelettes as always, and a host of special holiday side dishes and desserts. The special root veggies with walnuts were amazing and the pastry chef outdid herself with candy corn macaroons and wonderfully decorated cakes and tarts. Bravo!
Enjoyed the charcuterie tray, chili, a burger and some soup. Service was very good, the hostess was not particularly welcoming.
Best dining in the state of Utah! No one comes close!
Food was good. . Ambience was wonderful...very quaint and warm. Service was pretty good. Prices seemed high but it is a niche and they can do this. Did enjoy our night there
I took my parents to dinner on a Sunday night. My Mom uses a walker and the staff was very patient and helpful to her. The restaurant was cozy and the food was delicious. My three year old loved the mac n cheese. It's pricey but it was a special night out so it was worth it.
We drove over an hour and a half to find this unexpected gem open on a Sunday evening. Best selections were the sweet potato ravioli and the Utah trout. One of our party, a vegetarian, thoroughly enjoyed the one veggie entree offered. The warm bread was delicious and merited a second helping.
The ambiance was chic après-ski despite the warm October temperatures.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and decided that yes, it was well worth the journey.
The Foundry Grill never disappoints. Excellent fresh, locally sourced food. Great location, Sundance is a gem in Utah county.
Food took over an hour to get to us after ordering. Food was cold and lacked flavor. The ribs came out looking and tasting more like a roast and the huckleberry sauce was a weird combination (probably better hot). The raviolis were undercooked and very mildly flavored. The mashed potatoes were cold and thick. The trout was actually pretty good, just room temperature though. The soup of the day (seafood) was decent. I've heard about how great this place can be but for a first timer and for a special birthday it was quite the letdown.
As a visitor from the UK, colleagues told me I should drive the Alpine loop and stop off for a meal at the Sundance resort for brunch. However, I couldn’t reserve a table for brunch on the day I was visiting. So, I decided to book for an evening meal. I ordered the Elk Osso Bucco and mashed potato. The Elk was over cooked and certainly not as tender as the veal versions I previously eaten. The most irritating part was that there was no marrow spoon to get at the key element this dish is named after. The parsnips were undercooked for my liking and cold. The mashed potato was very creamy the best part of the dish.
We have dined here many times, this occasion we were bringing friends who were visiting from out of state. Service was not per usual, we had to ask for the bread and had to ask for water refills. Especially disappointing was a Cesear salad we ordered, as we were sitting there a salad was being served out at the Owl Bar, it looked delicious and a very healthy size serving. Several at our table ordered it and it was about
a third of the size we saw previously.....I should have questioned it but it was hard to track down a server.
In the future I will certainly question it.
I was very disappointed with the food and service. I have eaten here once before and liked it a lot better. My entree this time was totally cold... and really did not love it. Had some soup for appetizer and also was just ok, not great. apple pie did not love...and also cold. not sure we will return again for the expense I was disappointed and I wished more for a birthday celebration for husband. Love the atmosphere, however.
We had a great experience. The ambiance was charming. If seated in the main dining area, it can get a bit noisy, but we we're tucked back in a lovely corner. Our waitress was wonderful. The food was very good. Although I didn't care for the Tusacn Salad, the chartcuterie board was fabulous. My husband had the Elk osso buco, which was delicious. I had the Bolognese, Which I thought was good, but $36 was a bit much for a bowl of pasta. All in all, it was wonderful and we will be going back for special occasions.
Birthday, they brought a dessert with a candle.
We had a lovely dinner here. It was surprisingly very crowded on a Monday night, but fortunately not that loud. Service was a little slow, but we personally like that, as we dislike feeling like we are being rushed. We asked to be seated by the window and we were. We brought a bottle of wine with us and corkage was only $20. The food was delicious. The bread was really good. My trout was delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his filet which was also cooked correctly. Great ambience. A near perfect experience overall. Highly recommended if staying at or near Sundance.
It was a perfect quiet evening! Great food, service and atmosphere... Plus Mr. Redford was there... What more could you as for...
I really expected a better quality of food and was not very impressed with it. The Caesar Salad was full of whole anchovies and was horrible. I understand you use anchovies in the dressing but the whole fish in the salad ruined it. The trout was ok but actually over cooked. Overall very disappointing.
We loved this restaurant so much we went back the next night with some friends!
