About

The Forge is near the popular tourist downtown area of Jack London Square and offers its patrons a unique dining experience. The pizza restaurant bakes most of its pizzas in the Italian Valoriani oven, which was imported and provides a slightly burnt texture to the crust. The Forge uses seasonal and organic ingredients for its popular items, such as the Neapolitan style pizza which is cooked in a wood oven. The restaurant also offers American classic pizzas, appetizers, sandwiches and soups.

For those who like the outdoors, The Forge has a 1,600-square-foot patio overlooking the Bay. The patio is great year round with the heat lamps and fire pits to provide warmth. The restaurant opens daily at 11 a.m.

First time here. Little gem salad with parsnip chips was fabulous, followed by cauliflower arugula pizza was awesome.

Extremely attentive service. Much more so than I've had here before. Just on the edge of intrusive. But! The food arrived quickly, well plated, and delicious.

We were thrilled to find a cool place in Jack London with great service and good food options. Love that the pizzas are organic, the chicken is Mary's, etc. Was disappointed that the desserts are made with sub par ingredients – at least teh soft serve definitely is – high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and flavors, etc. yuck! Would love to see them work on making more and more of the menu clean, healthy and organic.

The pizzas are super tasty and so is the little gems salad. Servers are fantastic.

We stopped by for our first visit, based on a recommendation from a friend. It was EXTREMELY NOISY when we arrived, and we almost left. The hostess was very nice and sat us at a booth on the back wall. It was a little less noisy, and eventually improved as more people left. The problem was that the music was so loud, people had to yell to be heard! Not fun. The menu is not huge, but they had a nice variety to pick from. The pizzas come in one size only, with interesting combinations. The service, I have to say, was outstanding. Our server was nice, friendly, funny, and guided us through the menu like a pro. Be sure to order the cheese curds! I wasn't sure what to expect, but if you like deep-fried mozarella, you will LOVE the curds.

The pepperoni-mushroom pizza was delicious. The fried cheese curds were addictive.

The service was friendly and helpful. Want to go back to try other choices. Too loud inside.

The pizza isn't bad, but I really hate when restaurants have a "no more than 3 credit cards" policy. I travel around the country with usually around 10 coworkers and we each HAVE to pay our separate bills on our own cards, that's OUR policy. We informed our server of this prior to ordering since we've had issues with other restaurants in the area and the manager worked with us that time, but I don't want to have to negotiate this situation every time we show up, so sadly the place is now blacklisted for our corporate lunches/dinners.

The salad and Brussels sprouts were good - but the pizza a big disappointment - seemed undercooked even. Maybe on off night or something. Or server, tho, was fabulous and took good care of us.

Pizza was excellent as always, service was superb, the wait staff is always very kind and attentive, intelligent and genuinely caring. They remember us and know how we like our pizza. music is great but a notch or two a bit loud for us inside. We were seated along the short exterior wall just beyond the host station and cold air was streaming through the glass/ metal & concrete wall under the table. I was able to move to the middle of table and I covered my legs with a scarf so was comfortable, metal chair was cold but I sat on my jacket, ought to be easy to fix the wall. I forgot to tell them about it. My husband and I had a great time enjoyed our meal and the 80's music. There's no place like the Forge, a favorite resto in the Bay Area

I really love this place but sometimes the service isn't 100. All of the front of house staff is wonderful, but sometimes things feel a little disorganized. It never seems like it's anyone's fault though, it just seems like it's a big restaurant (maybe too big?) that gets really, really busy. Everyone is friendly and the food is superb. It's my favorite and go to spot no matter what the occasion is (birthdays, date night, business lunch, etc).

We like this place so munch we booked it for our rehearsal dinner!

Good food! Hearty, and good for any taste whether herbivore, carnivore or vegetarian. Menu changes periodically... Drinks good! Beer good! Bar or table seating good with friendly knowledgeable staff. Great spot at Jack London! Reliably good experience over-all any time I've had the chance to stop by.

Service was extremely disappointing. We arrived 10 minutes early and when I checked in, we were not acknowledge or given any feedback. They tried to get us to sit outside, so I already knew that meant our table was not going to be available on time. At the time of our reservation we were told the next available table was our table. We saw two tables become available immediately after that and then were told they were for a large party. Fifteen minutes after our reservation time we were seated at the table we were told was for the large party. When I walked past the front 5 minutes later the hostess was still complaining about us. Our waitress did not do much to improve the experience. As for the food, one of our pizzas was soggy and underdone and the other was burnt to a crispy (some pieces were inedible). Forge did not live up to the hype.

the table was not good- in the middle by the service station. A couple without a reservation was given priority over us and got a bonfire table outside. Pizza was good but not amazing. The crust did have a non chewy texture which was nice. Dessert was skimpy and served in a to go container with a plastic spoon which I cut my lip on. The house made ginger soda was really good. Music was annoying - way too loud all 80's pop. I would only recommend coming here if you are guaranteed a table at a fire outside.

Nice meet up and dinner for some young engineer customers. WE had a group of 10 of us and were taken care of quickly and efficiently. Our main goal was to get to the Warriors game and with the holiday traffic it was a huge help having such great service. Great Beer and Pizza.

This is a bar that has a fair amount of food, but the menu is limited to pizza and appetizers. We thought the pizza was great. We also had fried cheese curds (not for those with heart disease) and brussel sprouts. Both were good. We weren't too impressed with the specialty cocktail menu but the beers on tap were all terrific. This would be a nice place to go when the weather is good and you can sit outside. Currently has heaters for the deck, which may work but we didn't check. Seating inside is somewhat limited, especially "low" as in not on stools seating. There is a very long communal table, almost a bar, with stools that will hold 20 or more.

Some will find a 10-12 inch thin crust pizza for $16-$18 to be a bit pricey and that's probably true, but overall a good find.

In terms of the crowd, there was a small cluster of us over 50 types in the restaurant near the door, but this is an under 30 crowd for the most part. Think Oakland hipster with cash.

Very crowded Friday night but hostesses were great. We ended up getting to the bar and staying there for dinner which gave us the ability to watch the pizza chefs. Had cauliflower pizza and brussels sprout appetizer. Pizza was awesome. Double thumbs up!

I have been to Forge many times and didn't think twice about making a reservation for a busy Sat night. Unfortunately, we had an awful experience; disjointed service(we had multiple people trying to serve us), incorrorect orders, and a meal that didn't come despite our multiple requests to multiple people. We had two entrees removed from out Bill, but I won't be back anytime in the future, inn sorry to say.

Some of the food wasn't very good. My cocktail was terrible. It was fun watching the kitchen and the pizza was tasty, but that's not enough to justify the steep bill. Maybe they can do better.

The food is always good, but we recently went with a large group of 10 and the waiter did everything two or three times cause the place is loud and has funny acoustics - come to think of it with just two people there's a lot of "huh?" going on. So he had to go around the table and introduce himself to everyone, then tell everyone the specials, then get everyones drink order. We didn't see a drink for at least 20 minutes after sitting down. The food was all good but came out at vastly different times and no one actually ate together unless they were sharing a plate. Then before the last plate even hit the table a bar person came by and said, it's last call. Obviously they have a closing time but it was a little annoying. We skipped dessert; though it would have been thoughtful to bring the birthday boy a slice of something chocolate with a candle just to say, yeah we want you all out of here but we do kinda care. Long and the short of it: stick to 1-4 people and you should be ok, but don't expect to be in-and-out quickly.

We've been here twice with a large group and the food has been delicious both times. The pizzas are especially good. The service, however, is not of the same caliber. The staff seemed bored or even inconvenienced to be serving us and did a lot of socializing among themselves. No smiles, no warmth, no thank you for our patronage. Just mild annoyance or boredom. Also, it's VERY loud inside, so if you can't hear in crowds or are with a big group of people, you will have to shout to hear each other.

I have been to The Forge 3 or 4 times. It's always loud and busy, but this was the worst. It was a Saturday early evening and they were full, but the service was really inattentive, everything was very slow and my entree came after the others had eaten. It happens, I know, but at that price point, and location, etc. they need to be better prepared.

Our server was OUTSTANDING and FUN.
Outdoors is really the place to be and enjoy.
As a Vegetarian AND allergic to any kind of Zest my choices very super limited.
But the server worked with me. I would love if a few more options could be added to the menu.
The chees curds were fab. The salads well balanced. The flatbread could have used a tad bit more flavor and mine (cauliflower) was a little "mushy"
Over all a nice place if you like cocktails - which were absolutely delicious.

Facing the waterfront at Jack London Square, the Forge is well-known for the pizzas. The three of us shared two pizzas and a wonderfully delicious arugula salad with an anchovy-lemon vinaigrette. Great place for a casual dinner and people-watching.
