My sea bass was cooked to perfection with a risotto with a tomato flavor. Table side prepared guacamole fun and tasty. Nicole our server was a gem.
Consistently good food and service!
We were staying at the resort so it was very convenient. Our main entrees of ribeye and sea bass were very tasty but the side dishes were just OK. The lobster risotto was room temp and kind of gloppy. The scallop ceviche starter was delicious but small and the tortilla chips bland. The corn bread starter was a winner.
Always love to dine here. Table side guacamole is fantastic. So are the classic ribs. Service is always excellent.
Have dined here many times in the past. The value of the dinner vs the food served was very poor. Appetiser, ceviche, was very minimal and lacked fish; nothing but cucumbers and rice. Ordered Ahi Tuna and as it was very tasty, four (4) pieces of tuna the size of a quarter, somewhat of a salad and oh yes the roasted asparagus was never served and for the price of thirty five dollars ($35.00) was very overpriced. Big disappointment in the dinner. Desert, yes the desert let’s talk about the cream brûlée. Really looked forward to the end of our dinner experience with a treat. The caramel crust was so hard that we needed a knife to cut through it to get to the custard. Actually we had to turn it upside down in order break through the “crust” so we could enjoy the sweet custard of the after dinner treat. In retrospect, this was a very big disappointment for an anniversary dinner.
Food had little flavor. Salmon good but $5 more than it should have been.
Our waiter disappeared and we also had to wait for our check 15 minutes or so.
Would not return.
Everyone in our party of 7 was very pleased with the service, drinks, meals and overall ambience. Guacamole made at the table to specification was tasty and fun. We have never been disappointed with the Flying V.
The entire experience was dreadful
We arrived hopeful.
We ordered and waited for a half hour for the salad while our neighbors, who arrived after us were served the exact same salad immidiately.
We asked for the cornbread and the server said they were cooking a new batch.
In the meantime he brought a serving of lavosh in tiny pieces unlike neighbors who had large flat pieces, which we then requested
The appetizer 'prawns' arrived with medium small shrimp definitely not prawns
At the same time the cornbread arrived sadly undercooked
At our request the manager came and offered to send a second shrimp order
He also 'explained' that our order was mixed up with our neighbors' , which 'explained ' why they got our salads. He had no explanation why they didn't tell us why our wait was so long.
In the meantime our main dish arrived alleged super large scallops
They were not, roughly 1.25 inches in diameter , over cooked and heavily salted despite our request for no salt.
We called for the manager again, who simply gave up any pretense of explanation and offered to pay for our drinks.
At that point we left
Delicious food!!! Just wish we'd remembered our 25% off coupon.... pricey.
The quality and preparation of the food here make it one of the best places to dine in the Foothills. The table side guacamole is made fresh and not to be missed. It is rated one of the top two in the US and earns it every visit!
The prices are a bit high for what is offered. Great views and service is wonderful. The food is okay but not special.
had reservations for indoors, but the sunset was happening and we went outside. Good choice. it was a lovely evening.
We love this place. Cornbread is awesome, scallops, and drinks. It’s a must go to while staying st Loews.

The food was delicious. Menu is on the pricey side. Great for special occasions and date night. It's a busy place. Got our order wrong but were quick to correct it. Waited too long for our dessert; my coffee got cold. Otherwise I would recommend it. definitely get the table side guac. Dress appropriately.

Ribeye was fantastic - perfectly done! We loved the prawns appetizer, sauce was fabulous. Twice-baked potatoes with truffle oil were dreamy. Expensive but food quality and ambiance made it well worth the price
We had out of town guests and wanted them to enjoy a great meal and lovely view. They did!

I suggested Flying V after a movie with two other couples. We are all local (foothills residents) but the other two couples hadn't been there in some time. All thought the experience was delightful. Food was good, wine list was also, we were given a table for six in a nice, somewhat private corner where we could talk without noise problems. Our server was outstanding. Add all of that to the fact that the drive from the Loft to Ventana in early evening was gorgeous, and we were all very happy we chose Flying V.
The Food was Good, but the staff was Fantastic. Highly recommend you try!!!
Staying at the Lowe's Ventana Canyon Resort all week. We ate there twice. It's excellent and the staff couldn't of been nicer. Great pick for a great dinner.

Everything was prepared with care. Warm cornbread was brought to the table with two delicious butters, simply marvelous. We split our steak, it was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. In all it was a delightful evening. We look forward to returning soon.

It was our 39th anniversary. It was an excellent place to celebrate it. My wife had two appetizers for dinner . She ordered both a shrimp salad and a brussel sprout salad as an entree. The first was very good the second was excellent + (very unique). I had a salad and rack of lamb. The best lamb I have had in decades.

Flying V disappointed this time. One dish (fish entre) was particularly lacking but the overall experience didn’t measure up to our prior visit. Service was only OK and dining room very noisy. Really hope this was an off night because our initial visit a couple months ago was so good!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Flying V on Thursday night (March 8) and enjoyed it immensely. The food was terrific and our server (I believe her name is Tania/Tenia) was outstanding. We have just moved to the neighborhood and will dine at Flying V again and again. Thank you for a memorable experience.
One of the best dining experiences we have had in a very long time. Food was outstanding, service great, ambience with great view terrific. We will definitely return when we visit Tucson again.

Typically, only one entree special is offered. The addition of more than one special would be an improvement.
I had reserved several days early and requested a table with a view of the sunset. Instead we were put off to the side where the sun blinded us, yet we did not have a good view of the mountains and scenery. Only 15 minutes later did someone come and lower a shade so the sun wasn't so blinding. The food was mediocre to poor. The burger was undercooked, the expensive table side guacamole lacked flavor, broccolini was undercooked and cold. No one considered their meal worth the price and the service and ambience was weak. We had a lovely experience a month ago and have considered Flying V a great place to take out-of-town guests. Never again. Over priced for low quality food and service.
I took my wife here for date night and I must say we were impressed that a hotel had such great food. We can’t wait to go back during the day so we can see the view on the outside patio.
We had a lovely birthday dinner. It was cozy and warm and we had a nice view. My favorite is the guacamole that they hand make at your table. We were staying at the hotel, and it was lovely to walk over to this delightful restaurant!
Food is amazing!!! Service is fabulous!! Best Ahi dish I’ve ever had and I’ve tried many at high end restaurants. The calamari appetizer is so delicious. The dipping sauce that comes with calamari is delicious. I’m from California and this was the Second time staying at Lowe’s Ventana and have been to the Flying V twice. I can’t wait to come back.
We had dinner at the Flying V while staying at the resort. The room was comfortable (although fairly noisy), and the service was excellent. The problem was that the food wasn't all that great, especially in consideration of the price point. The best dish that we had was my wife's brussels sprouts appetizer -- excellent (but unfortunate that a vegetable appetizer was the best dish). My calamari appetizer was OK, but certainly not excellent. I was disappointed in the ahi -- although the waiter made a big deal about it being fresh and sushi grade, it was not seared at high enough temperature. More importantly, the kitchen applied a rub (which tasted mostly like cumin) prior to cooking that masked the flavor of the fish. If you have great tuna, a quick sear at a very high temperature and service with a lemon wedge is plenty of manipulation -- let's be able to taste the quality of your ingredients. Overall OK (and Tucson is certainly not a hotbed of fine cuisine), but the execution could be much better.
