I suggested Flying V after a movie with two other couples. We are all local (foothills residents) but the other two couples hadn't been there in some time. All thought the experience was delightful. Food was good, wine list was also, we were given a table for six in a nice, somewhat private corner where we could talk without noise problems. Our server was outstanding. Add all of that to the fact that the drive from the Loft to Ventana in early evening was gorgeous, and we were all very happy we chose Flying V.
The Food was Good, but the staff was Fantastic. Highly recommend you try!!!
Staying at the Lowe's Ventana Canyon Resort all week. We ate there twice. It's excellent and the staff couldn't of been nicer. Great pick for a great dinner.
Awesome as usual! The Flying V is a local favorite!
Everything was prepared with care. Warm cornbread was brought to the table with two delicious butters, simply marvelous. We split our steak, it was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. In all it was a delightful evening. We look forward to returning soon.
Food and service were terrific. Very friendly staff.
Good food; $$; nice ambiance-
Pleasant servers. No complaints!
It was our 39th anniversary. It was an excellent place to celebrate it. My wife had two appetizers for dinner . She ordered both a shrimp salad and a brussel sprout salad as an entree. The first was very good the second was excellent + (very unique). I had a salad and rack of lamb. The best lamb I have had in decades.
A fabulous dinner! Excellent service.
I give it my highest recommendation.
Excellent food. Fabian was our server, and he was outstanding!!!
Flying V disappointed this time. One dish (fish entre) was particularly lacking but the overall experience didn’t measure up to our prior visit. Service was only OK and dining room very noisy. Really hope this was an off night because our initial visit a couple months ago was so good!
Great waiter - nice ambiance - sunset to the west - excellent food - not rushed
Interesting food. The tortilla soup was unique and tasty. Salmon was also excellent. Unique presentation. Great service.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Flying V on Thursday night (March 8) and enjoyed it immensely. The food was terrific and our server (I believe her name is Tania/Tenia) was outstanding. We have just moved to the neighborhood and will dine at Flying V again and again. Thank you for a memorable experience.
One of the best dining experiences we have had in a very long time. Food was outstanding, service great, ambience with great view terrific. We will definitely return when we visit Tucson again.
Excellent food and service.
Typically, only one entree special is offered. The addition of more than one special would be an improvement.
I had reserved several days early and requested a table with a view of the sunset. Instead we were put off to the side where the sun blinded us, yet we did not have a good view of the mountains and scenery. Only 15 minutes later did someone come and lower a shade so the sun wasn't so blinding. The food was mediocre to poor. The burger was undercooked, the expensive table side guacamole lacked flavor, broccolini was undercooked and cold. No one considered their meal worth the price and the service and ambience was weak. We had a lovely experience a month ago and have considered Flying V a great place to take out-of-town guests. Never again. Over priced for low quality food and service.
I took my wife here for date night and I must say we were impressed that a hotel had such great food. We can’t wait to go back during the day so we can see the view on the outside patio.
We had a lovely birthday dinner. It was cozy and warm and we had a nice view. My favorite is the guacamole that they hand make at your table. We were staying at the hotel, and it was lovely to walk over to this delightful restaurant!
Food is amazing!!! Service is fabulous!! Best Ahi dish I’ve ever had and I’ve tried many at high end restaurants. The calamari appetizer is so delicious. The dipping sauce that comes with calamari is delicious. I’m from California and this was the Second time staying at Lowe’s Ventana and have been to the Flying V twice. I can’t wait to come back.
We had dinner at the Flying V while staying at the resort. The room was comfortable (although fairly noisy), and the service was excellent. The problem was that the food wasn't all that great, especially in consideration of the price point. The best dish that we had was my wife's brussels sprouts appetizer -- excellent (but unfortunate that a vegetable appetizer was the best dish). My calamari appetizer was OK, but certainly not excellent. I was disappointed in the ahi -- although the waiter made a big deal about it being fresh and sushi grade, it was not seared at high enough temperature. More importantly, the kitchen applied a rub (which tasted mostly like cumin) prior to cooking that masked the flavor of the fish. If you have great tuna, a quick sear at a very high temperature and service with a lemon wedge is plenty of manipulation -- let's be able to taste the quality of your ingredients. Overall OK (and Tucson is certainly not a hotbed of fine cuisine), but the execution could be much better.
Excellent dinner. Tuna was well prepared and enjoyed. Salmon special was excellent. Calimare was tasty and may be best ever. Well done team at Flying V.
Our favorite place to enjoy an evening of good food and service when we’re in town.
Excellent dining experience from the welcome from the servers to the fabulous food creatively and beautifully presented, it was a delightful evening. The creme brûlée was one of the best I have ever had!
The guacamole starter was tops. Service was welcoming and attentive. A very good hotel restaurant. Tables were spread out appropriately. Nice.
We had a great table by the fireplace, but I don't think there is a bad table in the restaurant.
We had the table side guacamole. It was delicious and the server was fun and very friendly.
Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed what they ordered. The service was excellent!
We hope to go back several times while we're here in Tucson.
The tenderloin filet was the best steak I've had in a long time. My girlfriend shared a few bites with me and it was hard not to steak the whole thing from her.
It was amazing the service was fantastic the food was on point the best restaurant I’ve ever been to
Our Valentine’s Day dinner was exceptional. Our server Wyatt, was very attentive and delivered a delicious meal of Sea-bassMy wife and I will definitely be back to the Flying V bar and grill.
We returned to the Flying V because it is where my fiance proposed to me. Our server was amazing and did a fabulous job of making us feel welcome and cared for in every aspect. He is a credit to the Flying V.
I asked for a quiet table and we were definitely seated in a quiet area with a pretty view.
The food was a let down. The cornbread, while good wasn't great, it was bland. The corn on the cob tasted burnt and the ribs were cold and again, somewhat bland. I thought maybe it was just me so I didn't say anything. After we were done eating my fiance also commented about the temperature of the food and that it was just okay.
I'm not sure I would recommend this restaurant but I do want to try it again and see if it was a one-time occurance. Restaurants always deserve a second chance.
We've been here more times than we remember over the past 10 years. You must have table side guacamole.....it never disappoints. Ribs are always a great consistently good choice. Any fish/seafood dish is fantastic. And of course, the margaritas are wonderful.
Absolutely fantastic! The food, service, ambience - everything - was perfect!
It has been a number of years since I have eaten here and I was a little disappointed. While the guacamole was good the didn’t provide enough chip. My cerviche was tasty but my friend had the chicken tortilla soup and it only had 2pieces of chicken in very watery broth. Food quality for price didn’t stack up.
Outstanding food and generous portions. The scallops were perfectly cooked on delicious polenta. The cornbread is to die for. The prawns appetizer was incredible and the lime and coconut dessert - go for it. It's the only thing that's a normal size! Everything else is split-able.
Lovely room and fabulous service.
Four of us dined at the Flying V. My friend and I got the Diver Scallops and my wife had the Salmon dinner. My friend’s wife had a steak. Everything tasted great and everyone loved what they chose. The Diver Scallop dinners however cost $42.00 each and we got three scallops and some pea shoots and a smear of sauce. While it tasted great it certainly didn’t fill us up. The scallop dishes were about half the size of the wives dishes.
Food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Corey Spector was singing nearby and all things together made it a very special evening shared with a visiting good friend.
The food, and the service were excellent, as had been the case on numerous prior occasions that we have been there. However, the hostess doing the seating that evening must have been
having some personal issue(s) as she had all the charm and warmth of someone heading for their pending execution.
Great music/food and ambiance plus an excellent server
We have been dining here once a year during our annual visit to Tucson. We've always had great food and service. We were shocked at the prices this year. $18 for quacamole? $35 for chicken? Prices were way to high. Won't be coming back next year!
We’re staying at the Lowe’s Ventana Canyon for s long weekend where we dined at the Flying V our first night. The hostess was welcoming and friendly. Great ambience and great food and service. The Guacamole was made tableside and the burger is amazing! I would defiantly recommend this restaurant!
