Dishes were simple but very good and enjoyable,
The food was tasty and it's nice to choose a few small dishes to share. It's probably not the best place for a date night. It was very loud and difficult to hear. We couldn't even hear the servers.
Daniel's attention to our gluten-free needs was epic, and he even dashed back to the kitchen to find out who made the goat cheese on the salad. It was a quiet evening, and so a great opportunity for conversation; I've been there when it was much more energetic, which, in its own way, is also nice.
Nice atmosphere, good food, a varied wine list, and attentive service. A very good evening!
a pleasant evening overall. the food itself didn't really stand out - definitely serviceable but not particularly unique or memorable. choices are fairly limited and two small plates is really not sufficient for a full meal. we liked the vibe of the plate tho and enjoyed very good and hospitable service. thanks
Took girlfriend out for the night and dope little spot
I was meeting old friends for a reunion and when we got to FlyTrap the place was packed and loud. They had our table ready, but suggested we might be happier in a small outdoor patio. I was not thrilled, but the night was warm...Turns out that the patio is da’ bomb. Bit cramped but very fun and much quieter. Service was amazing, food excellent and we stayed for three hours having a ball. Thanks FlyTap.
Food and service are amazing! The selection of beer, wine, and cocktails is really great. The food is prepared exactly as ordered and delivered promptly. The staff made sure to check on us. If you are looking for a nice place to meet with friends; move this one to the top of your list!
An excellent meal with fabulous service. We had bone marrow, duck fritters and something else for appies, then each had the ribeye steak. Great service, and when one of the steaks was overdone, they offered to give us dessert. Which we converted into after-dinner scotch :-)
Good food, great service; would definitely go back
In a fit of nostalgia, I ordered the cheeseburger "medium rare," which seemed okay until I got more to the center and discovered it was uncooked. They made another one, which I would still have called "rare," but at least it was cooked. Also at that point I was midway through and didn't really want a replacement, I'd have been happier if it were just comped. That's on me, mostly, I could have just asked, but I'm not good at those things.
Pleasant enough place, I would definitely go back and not order beef, but I would probably try someplace else first.
Food was mediocre at best. Got the flank steak that was over cooked. Restaurant was very loud and it is difficult to talk.
Food was pretty good. Duck croquettes were especially delicious, hangar steak and pasta were both good. Nothing extraordinary. Good service, great atmosphere.
Food was o.k. Menu and ambiance have changed a lot in the past 2 years and since the opening of the restaurant. Waiter was very sweet but I wouldn’t go back. Cocktails were not very good.
Food was mediocre. Had the Brussels sprouts, which were drenched in vinaigrette. Gnocchi was a bit tasteless. My boyfriend had the steak and fries which was delicious, presentation was not great. Overall for the price, not with it. Would go back for cocktails at the bar which was really cool
Nice room reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie. Golds, mirrors and heavy curtains compliment an appealing bar.
The food was fine, the hangar steak tasty if not a bit salty. Brussel sprouts a bit over dressed and the salad did not quite cohere, it was barely the sum of it's parts.
Convenient to an event we attended, Fly Trap was satisfying but certainly not worth a detour.
Drinks were excellent, the food was quite good. I had the Brussels sprouts and risotto, and both were great. The waiter was very good at recommending drinks, and the drinks were excellent.
Sad to see this spot go downhill. The food was just okay but not near as flavorful or as inspired as it used to be with Hass at the ehlm brining great middle eastern spices and cooking methods. We had one very good waiter the others seemed upset that we were there and did not seem to be able to handle a moderately busy spot.
Awesome our first time there and we were quite pleased!
The staff were very kind. We had a birthday in our group and they made a special effort to help us make it special. The wait staff was very attentive. Food was very much what we were wanting.
Great spot with wonderful food, service and ambiance. Unique touch - the story like hand written descriptions of the featured wines. Shared the avocado salad which had just the right amount of citrus, my friend had the oven roasted cartaccio - when our waitperson cut open the parchment paper the aroma that was released was so fragrant. I had the 14 hr braised brisket which was very flavorful and filling. My third time to the Fly Trap for dinner and have been pleased with each experience.
Great location, food and service. The cocktails are espectacular!
Very simple meal and i was still hungry
Very nice, pleasant evening at the Fly Trap. Interesting cocktails to start. Very nice menu with a nice mixture of small plates and larger meals. The risotto was creamy and flavorful and got better with every bite. The twice cooked brisket papperdelle was a nice mixture of flavors, sweet, savory, bitter broccoli rabe. Excellent wine list.
The staff was a little overbearing/incessant. A guy came by every few minutes to ask if everything was ok and we didn't even have food on the table. And, the server's explanations were not really sincere. Lastly, the food was good but very overpriced... $20 for pasta? I have had better pasta in an authentic Italian restaurant for cheaper.
I was pleasantly surprised with everything about our experience. Great food, fantastic service and such a lovely vibe! We will return.
The food and drink at Fly Trap are still noteworthy but the noise level at happy hour makes it impossible to have a conversation without shouting. There is a side room that is much quieter but the evening we were there it was taken over by a large dinner group so we took a table in the back corner, hoping it would cut down the noise level. Not noticeably. It was a little bit quieter by the time we left at 7 pm for the theater.
Fly Trap was fine, but we were hoping for something a little bit more.... The bar was great and the menu sounded awesome, but the food didn't quite deliver to our expectations. Maybe next time?
The restaurant was crowded with after work groups. Very very loud. The food took a long time to deliver and was not great. I would not recommend this as a dinner location.
Great restaurant as always. Fish n chips is meh tho
We were seated in the bar even though we had reservations, that were made well in advance. The service was mediocre albeit that the waitress was amicable. The menu is rather spartan, which is okay, but know that people will expect each dish to be scrumptious. With that said, I thought the food was acceptable not excellent. I would go back and try this place for happy hour and light bites.
The food was tasty, the service top notch, but it was noisy, not a place to go if you want to enjoy conversations with friends.
Had recently watched an very positive account of The Fly Trap on KQED's 'Check Please' in which the reviewers all commented on the wonderful Persian-inspired food. So we were surprised on arrival to find a dinner menu devoid of Persian dishes. Then the Maitre D' explained that the Persian owner for many years had sold the restaurant 6 months earlier. So I guess we had watched a re-run of the original show. Nevertheless, our party of four all enjoyed the lively ambience of the bar followed by a meal in the relatively quiet dining room.
Service was friendly and efficient, cocktails served in the bar were excellent, the menu was varied in scope and the food quality very good.
First time and will definitely be back! Amazing cocktails and food.
They are so good. I love this place. The wait staff and the bar staff takes amazing care of everyone.
Great food and service- will be back!!
Now under new ownership, Fly Trap has lost both the innovative Persian/Mediterranean cuisine and the relaxed ambience that originally attracted me to it.
I've honestly rarely visited the restaurant since their new ownership, and my wife and I decided to give it another go. All of the signature dishes are just not as good, and quite frankly the food is subpar now for the price you pay. I'd be happy if everything was cheaper, or if the food quality went back to the level it was at prior to the ownership change. I also greatly miss the rotating menu.
We come here often and enjoy it very much. Usually we go for business reasons but it's also great to just have a drink in such a charming restaurant with great service and outstanding food.
