Sarah was awesome and the food was outstanding. We’ll be back again and again whenever we visit the City.
Reviews are accurate. Mediocre food, good whisky and wine list, great space and I had good service on a slow night. Music wasn’t good—piano and vocalist doing a sort of 1920s Jazz thing that might appeal to tourists. Fine for a drink at the bar but wouldn’t make an evening out of it.
Food was great! And the live Jazz and excellent drinks made for a spectacular date night.
The music and ambiance was lovely and a lot of fun however the food and service was not good. I got the spinach gnocchi and it was dry with no sauce, had no flavor, and they were hot gnocchi pieces over cold vegetables so overall it was not a good experience and I had to send it back. The staff was very nice about it and did not charge us however it was still really disappointing. We also ordered a Bourbon tasting flight and while our server was friendly, every pour was uneven, giving us a tiny tiny bit of a few of the bourbons and then over pouring other ones on the list. It was strange and for such a high price we expected a much more professional set up. This place is way overpriced for the service and just not good. I would not go back here again.
Fantastic night out! The food was incredible ( steak entree and desert!), the ambience was romantic and the decor absolutely special. We loved it!
The food, the ambiance, THE BOURBON TASTING WERE OUTSTANDING.
The food, the service and the band were outstanding.
Cocktails were fantastic, although expensive. Food left much to be desired.
Food was not the best very bland. Dessert was good and the wine selection was really good.
The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The performers were amazing!
We went there for a night of music and dinner with a few friends but were seated in a booth where we couldn’t see the band whatsoever.
Was a bit too noisy at times from talking noise from patrons at the bar. Made it different to hear music at times
Nice place to hear top notch Jazz with a wide selection of drink. Excellent food.
The ambiance was nice the service was good although I had to look around a few times for another drink. Their specialty drinks are nothing special, really not the best tasting actually. So I stuck to wine. I had the vegetarian gumbo, it was alright flavor wasn’t all there, but my partner enjoyed his fried chicken under glass which only brings two pieces of chicken and a biscuit. The jazz band playing were great. Overall I would go back.
I would only go back for the drinks and live music. The food was nothing special, and the vegetarian meals both had tofu in it. I spoke with my waiter about my dislike for tofu, even as a vegetarian, and after finding out the pasta is literally made with tofu, I went for the gumbo. Only as I am eating I discover this two had tofu, and was completely lacking in flavor. Not going back for food, but the atmosphere was nice and the musicians were great.
The service and the vibes were both incredible, but the food left a lot to be desired. The chicken and steak bites we ordered were rubbery & tough to eat -- the chicken especially was flavorless. Brussel sprouts were over scorched. I don't think we'll be back for food, but might grab a drink at the bar just to listen to the music.
Ambiance and music are definitely worth the visit. Seems to go back to the roaring 20s, atmosphere is just magic with suffused lights and precious bottles on the wall. Special mention to the ladies room btw. Anyway, maybe it was because of the nyc restaurant week deal, maybe they are not so strong on the vegan options (appreciate the effort though), however all I can say about food is portions were way too scarce and did not taste great. Just giving an example on dessert (part of the deal): serving size of sorbet was literally half an ice cream spoon.
That being said: service was remarkable, got a very well done suggestion and explanation on the whiskey flight (quite never had it before, I really enjoyed it thanks to waiter Juan), entertainment was delightful at just the right noise level, overall a great experience. Little bit disappointed for food, but I would say I recommend a visit.
Great time. Nice intimate live jazz vibe with outstanding Whiskey and cocktails selection.
Live entertainment and vocalist did great.
The bison & bacon meatloaf was outstanding.
Overpriced cramped venue with mediocre food . Tourist trap
Fantastic music and atmosphere
I went during restaurant week so I was able to get the three course meal and the 3 drink pairing.. the piano encrusted portabelloushrooms andcthe chicken on the bed of cheesey orzo was great. The smokey drink was fun to watch and it is strong. The live music was in 2 45 minute sets and since I love jazz it was good to hear, but not do loud that a couldntvtalk to my hubby. Overall it was a great experience
Server was over sat and rushed. Not a relaxing experience. Very tense. Potatoes were not good at all
If you love whiskey the Flat Iron Room is a must. The selection is the most incredible list I have ever experienced. The bartenders are professionals and drinking a glass of your favorite spirit coupled with live Jazz music in a speakeasy setting is hard to beat.
The ambiance is great! But the food felt like Microwave food quality. They really need to improve the food to get returning customers.
Crazy good value for good food and great atmosphere.
Best for Friday night! Food is really good! Try steak bites, you won’t disappoint.
True NY live jazz bar ambiance w/ good food + friendly staff
Absolutely great experience. Food was amazing, drinks exceptional. Entertainment was out of this world. Can’t recommend highly enough!
The band was great as well as the food. I would definitely reserve a table in this place next time I visit NY.
Great spot for drinks and live music when they have it. I wasn't very happy about my food, but overall, a good evening!
Overall a good experience. Go for the music and drinks. Food was mediocre and expensive
Reminded me of an old speakeasy; dark, glamorous interior. The food was wonderful! We did most of the small plates and the Bison & Bacon Meatloaf was great. Entertainment, even on a Monday was lively. Cocktails were special!
Hostess was rude. Strict no sandals policy for men, however, no indication on site. Plus it was 94 out
Everything else was great!
The jazz music was incredible! Such a great atmosphere with great food and drinks!!
We were disappointed that when we arrived a very meek, quiet singer was on-stage with a guitarist. They both acted as if they'd never played together plus she seemed like she might be a student trying to sign onstage the first time. This was not the act that the website said would be there. We assumed she was the warmup act but then she proceeded to do 2 more sets. It was all the same style--extremely slow, quiet French songs.
The other issue was that the waitress of our section could not give us much attention because the table next to us with 3 people all ordered a flight of 6 bourbons--all different. So she was bringing over 6 at a time and showing the bottles and describing each. So when our food arrived she was gone for 20 minutes while we had an empty glass with no wine. By the time we got our wine the food was cold.
So in a city with so many options we were disappointed that this meal was spent in a mediocre atmosphere.
Hidden gem. Great atmosphere. Live jazz for nice background music. Cool atmosphere. Great food with some unique menu items. The largest whiskey selection I have ever seen but you don’t have to be a whiskey fan to enjoy this place. Fantastic for business dinner or a date.
The whiskey list was beyond amazing - 1300 different items. Everything from Scotch and Irish to bourbon. Food was also delicious. Service was friendly and professional. Ambience was dark - could use a little more light in order to read the menus. My only complaint was that a pour of 21-year-old Irish whiskey was $57.00; otherwise, quite a remarkable experience.
Music is fantastic, drinks are strong. Amazing vibe, will definitely go again.
Love it! Romantic and intimate. Good drinks and music. Will certainly return for special occasions.
