Food was really sub par for the price (guess you are paying for the music and ambience). Got a bunch of basic dishes that you would think is hard to get wrong (mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, buffalo cauliflower, etc). Good place to just grab a drink at the bar, just don't get food here.
Absolutely loved this place. Reasonably priced drinks for such a fancy bar and great service from the staff. There was a live band on but wasn’t too loud as you’d expect, and you were still able to have a conversation. Great little spot.
Love it! Once will be back:)
Went here for my friend’s bachelorette dinner. It was awesome. The waiter didn’t rush us at all. The jazz music was really nice as well. I’d definitely come here again.
Whisky selection is phenomenal. Wait staff is knowledgeable about their selection.
Went for drinks and a bite w/ co-workers for my Birthday and had a great time. Live music was tremendous. Hard to believe a place like this exists in mid-town south.
Place and music great. Unbelievable whiskey list. Loved everything. But reserve a place, otherwise may be crowded, it is generally small.
Such a fantastic experience! I brought my parents here during their visit to the city, and they said it was the highlight of their trip! My husband took me here for Valentine's Day earlier this year, and it was again a wonderful experience.
Great food and cocktails, cozy but exciting atmosphere, PERFECT service and of course the loveliest music. What I love most is the fact that you feel so comfortable to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere and conversation. They never rush you out the door or pressure you, which is a rare find in this city...
Can't wait till my next visit!
I got a call from the place to inform me that the table reserved to my party did not have a good view of the stage. However, when I got there I found out that the table did not have a view AT ALL of the stage, given the table is in the mezzanine behind the stage. That was very frustrating, specially because there were a lot of empty tables downstairs. Staff did not manage to give us a table, but they did offer drinks on them and we were lucky enough to get a place to seat at the bar so the night was not completely wasted. The place is nice the music is awesome but I recommend making sure you got a table downstairs.
What a wonderful place! Service was impeccable, ambience both warm and "cool", food yum, and music provided a wonderful backdrop to a lovely experience.
My daughter took me for my birthday. The wine was over priced and the food was average at best.
Old food. Bad serive. In general very disappointing.
If you love either jazz music or whiskey, this place is worth looking into. If you love both, you have to go here.
The music is loud enough to hear wherever you are but never loud enough that you have to yell to have a conversation. The service was great especially if you no nothing about whiskey, the waitstaff will give good recommendations. Best part of this place was the fact that the seating is limited so it never got crowded. It is a cozy comfortable altitude with plenty of space to walk to and from the exit, bathroom, etc. Reservations are a must. The wait will be long because of the limited seating and the fact that people will stay for a long time.
Great service, great drinks, great food and a cool jazz band!
A truly great evening of music; good food and a splendid choice of drinks on offer. A great atmosphere to relax in.
I love the Flatiron Room! I've been here once or twice for dinner and drinks, but this was my first time coming for a special anniversary dinner. We had a whiskey flight, and our server was extremely knowledgeable and generous with his time in explaining the different whiskeys to us. The live performers were tremendous, especially a Spanish-style guitarist and the female vocalist/guitar player. Highly recommend the burrata appetizer! Can't wait to come back.
My clients enjoyed their first dates at flat iron. Thanks for a great service!
We went at 9pm for drinks and dessert. Both were very good. We loved the atmosphere and the jazz band. Unfortunately we had a loud table beside us - really the only loud one in the space. We eventually migrated to a high top to get closer to the band. We really enjoyed the visit.
I come to the Flatiron Room every month and came for my birthday last time.
Despite this information, any special attention has been provided to us. The service was not as good as usual and not friendly at all.
Despite the fact that I love the place I have been quite disappointed this time and would appreciate any commercial gesture to make me come back again.
Loved the entire experience. We can't wait to go back! The band was great, drink selection amazing, beautiful setting and service was outstanding.
Wonderful as always.
Great live performances, stellar Scotch selection. Wine meh. Food is an afterthought here for the most part, but charcuterie/cheese combo is impressive for its number of selections if nothing else. Go for a cocktail before dinner, a postprandial ora nightcap and enjoy the live music.
Our friends from Europe were visiting New York and we decided to take them out for dinner to Flatiron Room. We deliberately chose this place for its ambiance and live music. All of us enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, its dimmed lighting and chick decor. It was great to listen to smooth jazz music and have a chance to catch up with friends. Compare to other jazz clubs where you are not allowed to speak at all during the performance.
The service was superb as well.
Unfortunately the quality of food was disappointing. Wish we’d have dinner somewhere else and stopped by at Flatiron Room just for great drinks and live music.
Host was not friendly/accommodating, even w/ reservations. Begrudgingly gave us a back corner table when there were plenty of tables upfront towards stage that were empty through the night. Great ambiance, great live music, friendly servers. Mediocre food (skip dining & just go for drinks!). Would’ve expected great cocktails, but tried the Oaxaca Express, which was so-so, so went to wine & whiskey (which friend had on Bottle Keep...great whiskey selection!).
World headquarters for single malt scotches. The list is endless, yet our waiter seemed to know every one of them. A real treat for whiskey drinkers.
Outstanding food but horrible service. Was waiting for food for over an hour and then for the dessert as well. And this was on a Monday night, wasn't even that busy. Wouldn't go back there.
No I don’t want to
Great experience at the Flat Iron room! Great food, super cool atmosphere, and the food was delicious! Unbelievable drink menu as well. Would definitely go back.
love this place :)!!!!, everything was perfect and staffs were all super nice and cool. I would definitely come back to this place!
Excellent food, service and entertainment. The Mac and cheese had outstanding flavor and the wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The jazz trio that night was great.
Warm dimly lit room with various private booths mixed with intimate tables. Menu is limited yet tasty. I would return for bourbon tasting and live jazz!
Everything about our experience at the Flatiron Room was lovely. The service(Simon, specifically) and food were especially memorable. This place houses more whiskey that most places in the U.S., if not all. My fiance enjoyed the wide range of whiskey selections, while I enjoyed an eloquent glass of wine. We will definitely visit again soon.
Wow, what an experience. Luckily my date who had never been here absolutely loved this place. She felt as if she was in a movie. And for an unforgettable night, I don’t blame her. The music was amazing the band playing everything to perfection. I’ve never heard a jazz rendition of Hall & Oates “Maneater” but let me tell you it is absolutely amazing. Will come back numerous time. Take all my money.
Didn’t have food there, performer that evening wasn’t great. Drinks made up for it.
We came here for my husbands 40th birthday. My husband had researched for a whiskey and jazz night and you certainly did not disappoint!
Excellent food, excellent live music and the staff were so attentive we could not have asked for any more.
Thank you so much
Food was mediocre and the tacos were way too spicy (full disclosure: the server did say the tacos are spicy but not too spicy so I ordered them). Spicy is ok but not when the spiciness hides the flavor. The tacos (which are actually more like 2 small blue corn tortilla bowl shells ) were served with a bland slaw and a few sliced marzano small tomatoes. The tacos should have been served with a salsa or chopped avocado with cilantro and lemon seasoning.
The brussels sprouts were also heavily spiced. All the guests (3) shared a flatbread and thought sugar had to have been added to the tomato sauce as it was just too sweet. A guest said her salmon was good, as was the side order of mushrooms. The live music was very good. Seems like a place where many people gather after work rather than a dining room where people can have a conversation over dinner.
best brown liquor selection in NYC. Prices are not low but if you want to try something rare and unusual this is the place.
Lovely spot -great music, excellent service, warm and inviting atmosphere, and decent food. Loved it and can’t wait to go back.
Great live music and amazing cocktails! The service was also great, very attentive staff!
We have had great experiences in the past at Flat Iron Room, however this past Saturday was not. When making a reservation there is no notification or option to make it for the main dining room. We had a 9:00pm reservation and were sat upstairs, away from the music, and were the only people up there. I would have never made a reservation knowing this. No one is coming in at 9 for a dinner reservation and we were obviously only there for the music. The hostess was not accommodating either saying that others made their reservations months in advance which is a total lie. You need to be more transparent about seating in the future so that guests know what they are getting into before arriving. Not good.
