Scallops cold in center; linguini very, very spiced with pepper; very good clam chowder
We love it! Great place, excellent food. Good ambiance
Enjoyed our time and food. The appetizer of sea bass was really good
The Fishery is a gem of the neighborhood. Some excellent choices are steamed mussels, soups, Fishery roll, seared albacore, and Mr. Brown's swordfish tacos. We eat here regularly.
There are few restaurants were I would eat three times in a week!
Service was quite unremarkable. Food was good.
Amazing food & great wine options but PRICEY!
The Fishery doesn’t have a bar. They serve beer and wine only. Just good to know before you go.
Mussels were just ok. Swordfish was decent. Albacore entree was lovely.
It’s a fish market so it smells fishy. Atmosphere is nothing special.
We always make the Tuesday Tasting when in town. It didn’t disappoint. Three small separate fish courses and a seasonal dessert, together with optional wine pairings = yum!
Worth the short drive away from the tourist areas! Crab cakes a delight. Sea scallops prepared perfectly in a gently-seasoned sauce with cubed sweet potato. Chef takes time and talent with your order. Service attentive. We'll be back!
The manager was the best. Very accommodating. Got my GF wine while we waited...
Excellent dining experience, creative snd tasteful offerings.
The tasting menu was a nice variety although I felt the portions could be just a smidge larger. We were still a bit hungry after the dinner. The server we had was pretty lame- he never scanned the room to see if anyone needed anything. I tried to get his attention on five separate trips he made to and from the kitchen. Just not a professional. For what this restaurant is trying to do, waiter service is subpar, based on that waiter. The food was delicious, however, with a good food profile and variety. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and executed well by the kitchen. Plate presentation was nice as well and the combination of flavors was balanced. Wine pairing was good- about a glass and a half total for the 4 courses (three with wine). At $18, its about average.
Nice seafood place in Mission Bay.....had a bowl of chowder and halibut & chips. Both were excellent....my only complaint was the portion size of the halibut.....but otherwise cool place to visit, many seafood options.
My wife and I always get their Fishery Roll, Caesar Salad and a bucket of Clams....perfect meal. Highly recommend The Fishery. Suggest making reservations for weekend dining.
I've dined at The Fishery since the place first opened in the 90's. The casual atmosphere and great seafood were a sure winner! Comfortable and clean with free refills of iced tea.
Even after their remodel and change to full table service we kept coming here. Though not as often as the budget could not handle it as easy as before. Putting in full service slowed down the meal and made it more formal and a lot more expensive. Prices have continued to escalate, almost to white tablecloth level. You will find it more formal and still more expensive.
A few weekends ago I tried their new Crispy Shrimp dish. For $31.00 my plate consisted of 4 medium -sized shrimp, covered in a well-made chile sauce and accompanied by sauteed greens. Caesar salad, a la carte, was $10.00 more.
My boyfriend had the fish and chips-- 3 smallish pieces of Alaskan cod (very good) along with a mass of tasty french fries. Tartar sauce and vinegar were provided as well. This was $25. I know seafood costs have been rising due to high demand from overseas. But $25 for fish and chips?
Unfortunately we are going to have to skip this place in the future, or go for lunch and split an entree. It has become simply too pricey. There are other seafood places with food just as good and lower prices.
Very Tasty seafood. Nice variety of fresh seafood. Lots of varied choices for our 3-generation family.
Very pleasantly surprised. Calamari crisp. Scallops beautifully prepared and presented. Great service as well. Kudos.
WE love good fish and went to the Fishery to celebrate our 34th anniversary. We made reservations and are table was ready right away. We were disappointed to hear that they had run out of the daily fresh fish special, which would have been what we both we have ordered if we had the chance. The restaurant was noisy with a table of 6 within 2 feet of us that was quite boisterous. Our server was wonderful and did her best to make sure we enjoyed our meal, but she did forget the bread and when she brought it we were disappointed to find cold thin slices of sour dough bread which were not very appetizing. The décor is very nice and it has a cozy feel that is great for a neighborhood dinner. But it's not the place for a special occasion, in my opinion.
Food was just okay. They never change the menu.
Valentine's Dinner. Seated promptly in noisiest table near kitchen and prep area after requesting quiet table; moved to other table. Service slow, had to ask for bread. Amuse-bouche, a single oyster. 1st course: 3 one-inch square slices of tuna with garnish, my companion: 1 scallop with sauce and garnish. Main course arrive 63 minutes after we were seated and that is too long. All food excellent. Dessert: tiny, 3 bites and it's over... no offer of coffee, but the bill came very quickly. $230.00; you decide.
We were here for Valentine's Day and chose the Special Valentine menu. We had the lobster tail which was ok. It did not have much taste and tasted more like a frozen lobster tail you buy at a supermarket. We were disappointed. Rest of the meal was ok, but nothing to rave about. We have eaten here before and have had great meals. Fish is always fresh and served.
Service was so, so. Our waiter was too busy to provide great service.
Though we were worried that Valentine's Day would be really busy, we were not rushed at all. The steamed clams were delicious and a perfect appetizer. We both had Seared Tuna and it was great!
The Fishery is one of my family's favorite place to eat for a special occasion or just hungry. My 14 year old loves the fish and chips. We all have our favorites. Great food!
Great ambiance ... interiors are classic East Coast or Hawaiian inspired. Menu options are great and a very thriving fish market. Absolutely loved my seared ahi tostadas and others in the party enjoyed the poki appetizer and poki salads. Great flavors and very fresh ingredients!
Excellent spot for seafood in the PB area. I had the salmon which was great and my wife had the seared tuna. Presentation was excellent and the fish was very high quality
Have been to the Fishery several time before and service had been excellent. On Saturday night Feb 10th, the service was marginal and the wait staff was not very attentive or knowledgeable. For example after 15 minutes sitting at the table, one member of the party of 6 asked for water and the waiter brought a picture of water and 1 glass. He did not ask any of the other 5 people at the table if they wanted water. We also ordered 2 dozen oysters for an appetizer and they were put on the table with no explanation of what the oysters were served. We had to ask 3 members of the wait staff before we found out what kind of oysters were served to our table. The answer we got was one plate was east coast and the other was west coast. The wait staff seemed too preoccupied with other things than servicing our table. We had to ask for everything and no one offered anything(including ordering food).
The Fishery never disappoints. The freshest fish locally, with a varied menu. Interior is always feels clean and skip shape. The best clam chowder in San Diego, silky and smooth. One of my top five favorite casual restaurants in San Diego. The only downside is the limited parking, but it’s PB, so plan on that.
The dinner was overall very satisfactory. The four people enjoyed the dinner thoroughly
The Fishery is in our "backyard" here in Pacific Beach and we dine here occasionally. For as many years as I can recall the menus have changed and the new offerings are always refreshing and never disappoints.
Top quality fresh seafood. Service was excellent. The side dishes are also amazing. Vegestables are creatively served and very flavorful. Prices are on the higher side but well worth it when you want a special meal.
The clam chowder and fresh swordfish were outstanding. Crab cakes appetizer was very good. Both ladies in our group liked the salmon entree but felt the teriyaki flavoring was a little too overpowering . The waiter recommended the Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc and it was delicious. All in all, a memorable dining experience in a comfortable, casual atmosphere.
Amazing dining experience. Great food. Would strongly recommend to anyone.
We visited as 2couples.
The service was excellent, but not pushy
Calamari was great, as was the seafood soup for appetizers.
The braised swordfish was outstanding
We also enjoyed the swordfish Bologna’s and the crusted halibut.
Not your run of the mill fish dishes.
Crime brûlée was also top notch
Great evening eclectic fish dishes reasonably priced with some excellent reasonably priced Austrian wine.
Casual w/ fresh fish and excellent preparation. Friendly staff but not intrusive.
I was surprised that the price for a very basic fish & chips entree went from $16 to $25.
Will not go there again.
As always, perfection! Of the many times I’ve dined in this fabulous establishment, I have never been disappointed. It’s pricey, but there is no doubt that the quality is top notch.
We came to The Fishery on the last night of our vacation for fresh seafood . We had a group of 10 and they were very accommodating, the service was excellent and the food and wine were amazing. Good portion sizes and very good value. We will definitely be back the next time we are in townn!
Terrific fish selection and well prepared. A bit pricey.
Great for seafood, good choice of wine and beer, no full bar. Lovely atmosphere, not too loud as some locations. So great food, wine and atmosphere, what more could you ask for.
