Very pleasantly surprised. Calamari crisp. Scallops beautifully prepared and presented. Great service as well. Kudos.
WE love good fish and went to the Fishery to celebrate our 34th anniversary. We made reservations and are table was ready right away. We were disappointed to hear that they had run out of the daily fresh fish special, which would have been what we both we have ordered if we had the chance. The restaurant was noisy with a table of 6 within 2 feet of us that was quite boisterous. Our server was wonderful and did her best to make sure we enjoyed our meal, but she did forget the bread and when she brought it we were disappointed to find cold thin slices of sour dough bread which were not very appetizing. The décor is very nice and it has a cozy feel that is great for a neighborhood dinner. But it's not the place for a special occasion, in my opinion.
Food was just okay. They never change the menu.
Valentine's Dinner. Seated promptly in noisiest table near kitchen and prep area after requesting quiet table; moved to other table. Service slow, had to ask for bread. Amuse-bouche, a single oyster. 1st course: 3 one-inch square slices of tuna with garnish, my companion: 1 scallop with sauce and garnish. Main course arrive 63 minutes after we were seated and that is too long. All food excellent. Dessert: tiny, 3 bites and it's over... no offer of coffee, but the bill came very quickly. $230.00; you decide.
We were here for Valentine's Day and chose the Special Valentine menu. We had the lobster tail which was ok. It did not have much taste and tasted more like a frozen lobster tail you buy at a supermarket. We were disappointed. Rest of the meal was ok, but nothing to rave about. We have eaten here before and have had great meals. Fish is always fresh and served.
Service was so, so. Our waiter was too busy to provide great service.
Though we were worried that Valentine's Day would be really busy, we were not rushed at all. The steamed clams were delicious and a perfect appetizer. We both had Seared Tuna and it was great!
Great ambiance ... interiors are classic East Coast or Hawaiian inspired. Menu options are great and a very thriving fish market. Absolutely loved my seared ahi tostadas and others in the party enjoyed the poki appetizer and poki salads. Great flavors and very fresh ingredients!
Excellent spot for seafood in the PB area. I had the salmon which was great and my wife had the seared tuna. Presentation was excellent and the fish was very high quality
Have been to the Fishery several time before and service had been excellent. On Saturday night Feb 10th, the service was marginal and the wait staff was not very attentive or knowledgeable. For example after 15 minutes sitting at the table, one member of the party of 6 asked for water and the waiter brought a picture of water and 1 glass. He did not ask any of the other 5 people at the table if they wanted water. We also ordered 2 dozen oysters for an appetizer and they were put on the table with no explanation of what the oysters were served. We had to ask 3 members of the wait staff before we found out what kind of oysters were served to our table. The answer we got was one plate was east coast and the other was west coast. The wait staff seemed too preoccupied with other things than servicing our table. We had to ask for everything and no one offered anything(including ordering food).
The Fishery never disappoints. The freshest fish locally, with a varied menu. Interior is always feels clean and skip shape. The best clam chowder in San Diego, silky and smooth. One of my top five favorite casual restaurants in San Diego. The only downside is the limited parking, but it’s PB, so plan on that.
