Be selective regarding the menu. Those who ordered fish and chips loved it! The fish taco's - well not so much.... lacked flavour and the combo of ingredients was not special at all. Two people at our table ordered the fish tacos and left most of it.
Other that that the space is nice, the servers were friendly and attentive.
Food and service were excellent. The Ahi Tuna Salad was perfect.
Salmon was over cooked but everything else was good!
Terrible service. Not attentive at all. Had to ask other servers for side plates, more drinks, new cutlery..... Chowder had cornstarch or something in it. Was like glue. Crab was good but server never brought drawn butter. Wont go back.
Wondered if our food came lukewarm was cos they purposely did not want to burn our fingers when we dug into our seafood. The lobster was good. Wished the kitchen had helped with cracking the shells a bit as some was more difficult even with the tools given.
The fish n chips was oh soooo good!!
Place wasnt too bad, we had a buy up deal which included a lot of food, first time I havent been able to finish a meal! We did order extra food, tacos were alright as well as the oysters. I think next time we will stick with the buy up deal only.
Three people had the mussels and clams and enjoyed them. Three others had fish and chips and found them very greasy. Cole slaw was strong and unappetizing.
This is the place to go if you love your shellfish, crab, lobster, prawns galore, we had the platter which was incredible! If you love getting gloriously messy whilst cracking into your lobster, you will love it as much as we did!
Calamari was not good and the portion was small.
Try the Arms Reach if you’d like to taste Calamari
Popcorn shrimp were to heavily battered.
Steamers were good
Pinot noir needs a price adjustment.
We came from west Van and wanted to try over our usual at the Coast.
The oysters were plump and fresh and the steamers were great.
The music was way, way too loud for a dining room (this place isn't meant to be a dance bar, right?) and our party of four could not stand the heavy rock music. Is there no music that is more neutral, that might appeal to a larger audience? It was downright jarring trying to eat with that noise going on. I would recommend this restaurant with the proviso that you'd have to like heavy, loud rock while you eat.
Visiting Vancouver for the first time from UK. Happy to recommend it. Good busy vibe, excellent food and service.
Great service and the fish and chip is one of the best I've tried.
Most of foods were a little greasy.
The oysters didn’t taste that fresh. I actually had a stomachache after. We had the big catches, it’s not a good bang for your buck at all. Don’t think we’re care to come back anytime.
We found for a date night excursion, that the restaurant was quite noisy. It is more of a "pub" type of atmosphere than a fine dining experience.
The crab was overcooked but the clam chowder was delicious.
Excellent, friendly service. However, there is not a lot a menu variety for people who want to eat light.
We would give the restaurant another try as it was a busy night on Valentine's Day and that may have been the reason for the overcooked crab.
Not what it used to be. Some of the servers seem as they don't even want to be there and food quality is nothing like it used to be. I used to love this place and now I wouldn't recommend it.
Food was lukewarm, service slow and front of the house was irritated that we were not overly thrilled with where she tried to sit us after making a reservation. This was disappointing as we had specifically returned because our first visit was very good. How can things change so much in less than a month?
Our waitress , Tina was fantastic. Food , service and atmosphere were excellent.
I love the buck a shuck ! And the snow crab legs and lobster. Portions were a good size.
service was terrible and slow and not accomindating
We were seated right away and had a lovely server. I had the Taco Trio. The first two were delicious, but I wasn’t a big fan of the Asian style taco. The flavours really didn’t work for me. The space was great, loved the walls. We’ll go again!
Oysters were wonderful . Everyone loved their meal. Service was accomodating, attentive but not intrusive . Definitely would recommend
Awesome and relaxing
Lots of fun
Food is good
Love the service
It will be our annual Super Bowl destination
This is our third year watching Super Bowl there
We had a double date there on Saturday night. Her surgery was kind and funny. The food was really great! I loved all of it and so did our guests, except I found the coleslaw was too intense with horseradish or the Asian vinaigrette. Overall it was a fantastic time
This was our first experience at the Fish Shack. It was very good! Friendly service, fun atmosphere, very good food. We normally go to the Coast Seafood, but we will be back at the Fish Shack soon for a fun, casual and relaxing dinner. Also great Caesar cocktail choices! Will defintely be back to try another caesar. I had the ling cod meal and my husband had the burger. The fries were a bit too salty, but otherwise great meal for the price!
Great delicious lobster ball which is one of my favorite. Good service and waitress respect disability people that they would communicate with pad note and pen. I am definitely going there again.
First time there for dine out Vancouver. Experience was great. Food was good. Service was great
Great food with an attentive seriver. The ambience was excellent, the only downside was although we had booked we had to wait in the doorway getting a snarl for being in the way.
The bar area was full of diners maybe this would be a better solution.
Good bar-style seafood, tasty casual bite. Loud venue.
Went there for dine out Vancouver and got there early enough to catch the tail end of happy hour. They have decent $5 cocktails during happy hour. And buck a shuck all day, but the oysters are really small compared to other buck a shuck restaurants. Server checked on us frequently and the place gets pretty busy later in the evening. The food portions are on the small size. But overall good value for the amount your paying.
Great fresh daily oysters special. But the happy hour beer selection is limited.
Had a great experience at the fish shack. Our server was great, food was speedy and fresh and deckhouse.
Very underwhelming and we were disappointed with our meal. It was part of the Dine Out Vancouver so we had high expectations and it was mediocre to be nice about it! The fish/shrimp taco duo was very, very bland. The server was friendly and apologized but we paid and left accordingly.
We were quite a bit disappointed this time with the food. We had a 2 for dinner voucher which we do occasionally and have always been happy and satisfied, but this time at the Fish Shack the food was only so so. It was suppose to be a 3 course dinner. So the soup a clam schowder arrived lukewarm so we had it brought back to the kitchen. We received another "hotter" one but we could only find one tiny piece of clam in the soup.
Then for the main course, a salmon/crab dish on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled brussels sprouts? First of all somehow that doesn't go well together. The piece of salmon was dry, the mashed potatoes were lukewarm and the brussels sprouts were also so so.
The only thing that was OK was the desert, simple but good.
I must say our waiter was very friendly
We dine there before truly enjoyed the seafood, which was fresh and tasty
The Dine Out Vancouver 2018 menu was amazing. The two of us shared two menus and were able to try 5 different dishes. All being delicious and value for money (CAD20 for the menu). The service, unlike what we saw in other reviews, was swift, warm and friendly.
Our food took forever to arrive. I ordered the dine out menu. Entree took 45 minutes to arrive. The eat all you can mussels had a few bad ones that made my son feel sick afterwards. Otherwise food was tasty and server was friendly.
I didn't note down our Servers name, she's tall and blonde, but she was exceptional and very friendly. We didn't do Dine out but had purchased the dinner gift certificates for 2 and were very happy with our meal.
The place was packed, had to breathe in to get past other diners to be seated. Server was very pleasant, but had far too many tables to handle, thereby making the service not what it could have been. Our seafood steamers arrived and the food was cold. Ice cold, not just luke warm. It was replaced with hot versions but we had a bit of a wait.
Great service and great food!
Reso was at 7 but seated at 745
Tried Fish Shack for the first time on a Dine Out Vancouver promo. Appies were lobster Mac and cheese balls, main seared tuna, desert stick toffee pudding. The app had little to no seafood or cheese in it and was basically just a deepfried ball of macaroni, pretty gross and I would not recommend it. The main was much better than the app, seared tuna was done beautifully, very thin uniform layer of cooked flesh on the most outer edge and a fantastic dark red centre, whomever did the tuna did it right. The sides with the main were cold, like chilled cold, it was a bit odd to say the least, ice cold potatoe cubes and green beans, meh. The desert, was neither sticky or pudding like, more closely to a pound cake with butterscotch sauce, not bad but also not really what I would call sticky toffee pudding. Our server was really good, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is pretty neat, but loud and the tables are separated by probably less than a foot, so if you're looking for a more private romantic feel this is probably not your place. While I didn't love this meal, I also didn't hate it. I might go back sometime, but I'm not in a rush.
