The perfect dining experience, pricy but amazing! Every staff member was charming and courteous. The food was remarkable!
Birthday dinner for my wife. Excellent food, service and atmosphere!
Got a call from restaurant asking if it was special occasion. I said yes, I had completed my 1year probation at work and was now permanent. At dinner there was no mention of it. Waiter was not personable. Very just business. Took order, checked in quickly, passed out dessert menu, etc. no effort to show he considered us humans. Even dropped the check early and he admitted he was just so used to doing it after the main course even tho we were still waiting for our dessert. The Delmonico steak was a let down. Though the steak itself was tasty, it was ruined by being over salted and a overtly salty sauce. Price wise I don't think we really got our money's worth out of the meal. Our last meal at firehouse was so amazing that we came back, but it'll be awhile before I give the restaurant another try. Which is sad because it was on our list of wedding venues.
The food quality varies tremendously from the dish selected. There are very few gluten free/vegetarian options but the ones available were wonderful. I selected the fish which rivaled the mediocre hotel food served at cheap luncheons. The head servers lacked warmth and were almost cartoon characters in their actions.
Finally, the décor reminded me of a funeral home. The restaurant came highly recommended and was expensive so I was quite disappointed.
The food was very good as well as the service. We enjoyed ourselves.
I’ve had several great experiences at the Firehouse Restaurant but I’m finding diminishing returns each time I go. The food was good but for the price, especially in Sacramento, I might expect a little better value. The wine was good and I always enjoy the ambiance. Our server wasn’t rude but she wasn’t friendly either - a bit intense.
I was in town with 2 friends for a half marathon. We chose the restaurant based on Yelp reviews and the menu, wanting a "safe" meal before a large race. Being that we were in town for a race, we were casually dressed in jeans and even a plaid shirt. We walked in and immediately knew we were terribly underdressed. The staff didn't bat an eye. Our waiter was so friendly, making us feel at ease in what could have been a very uncomfortable situation. The food was EXCELLENT and I wholeheartedly would recommend it to anyone. I just wish I could have splurged with wine and dessert. We will absolutely return and this time, we will be wearing the appropriate attire!
Our dinner was delicious. The steak, lobster and lamb was cooked perfectly. Cocktails were nice and strong which my fiancé loved. The ambiance was perfect for date night. Service was great but we did feel a bit rushed which was surprising for a fine dining restaurant. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed ourselves.
We close The Firehouse for dinner because we were staying overnight in Old Sacramento and didn’t want to drive out of the area. We had a lovely dinner with excellent service. While I won’t say this was the most amazing food we’ve ever had, everything was delicious, and the service was fantastic. We had an excellent and very quiet table.
The wine list was extensive, and we were looking for a recommendation from the sommelier, but our waiter made a suggestion instead. This turned out fine, and the wine complemented all of our new options perfectly.
We enjoyed the ambiance and overall elegant evening.
Excellent as always . . . great hidden gem in Old Sacramento. . . perfect place to have dinner before a play or concert downtown.
Sean filled us in on the history of the place. The staff was attentive and the food was outstanding
We celebrated my husband's birthday for the third year in a row because we have always had a wonderful experience at the Firehouse. We have recommended this restaurant to our friends on many occasions. Excellent ambience, food, and service...
Was expecting a first-class experience. The rack of lamb was tough and chewy. The lamb came on a plate with horseradish on it which overpowered the already bland taste of the meat. The orange creme puff dessert was dry and a mess. Dry chunks of dry cake scattered over a small dollop of orange creme on top of a dry pastry bottom. Bad presentation and hardly edible. The clam bisque was good but not great. The duck breast was good but also not great. The service was rushed and with an attitude. Disappointed
This place rocks, service was spot on. Wine list was HUGE.
Food and service were excellent! Steaks were cooked perfectly staff was extremely attentive without being annoying.
Very Romantic. Great food. We were trying it out for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Excellent service with the waiter and the food was very good.
A great place for good food and high end service. They make you feel like someone special.
Having heard so many good things about this restaurant we were so looking forward to dinner here. We enjoyed the old-world setting of the dining room. However, felt the food was extremely overpriced. We ordered the Firehouse trio appetizer which we thought would be an assortment of the three appetizers. The plate cane with the tiniest portion of one crab cake, one ravioli and one piece pork belly. The price was $18. For our entrees we ordered the fillet and lamb. The meat was good but served lukewarm. For 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, an appt and 2 entrees our bill was $180. We left a nice tip as our server did a good job.
Impeccable service, excellent gourmet meal. Thanks!
Great service however the quality of the food does not match the price (overpriced).
This place exceeded my expectations, from the moment I walked in, my wife and I were greeted with hospitality. The atmosphere was casual laid back and quite a plaseant experience. The food is a bit pricey, but for what's worth I HIGHLY RECOMMEND dinning here.
Delightful for non-prudes. If you re a prude, be prepared for a plethora of large paintings of nude women on the walls. If that does not offend you, your tastebuds will be in for a treat enhanced with excellent service. The staff clearly knows when to participate in frivolity and when to stand back in a most professional manner. Only real downside is having to pay (albeit nominal) for valet parking. Parking should be complimentary and sneaked into their overall pricing which is already not exactly cheap.
Parking and just driving in general around this area sucks. It WAS a Saturday at 6:00, but still very irritating. Food was good but pricey for what it was. Large wine list with good wines, but also a little pricey. Good desserts.
Wife’s birthday dinner date
Fish was greatly overcooked.---------------------------------------
Very nice upscale restaurant. A little pricy, but very elegant. Service was excellent. Very attentive to us.
I would recommend, very large selection of wine.
Great food options and good City find. Service and ambiance was fantastic!
It was a steakhouse. For me to expect an elevated experience was I guess naive . Good for a steakhouse but overpriced. Waited 30 minutes for a table when I booked a reservation at a specific time. Bar tender is nice. Overall not interested in returning.
Steak was over cooked. Like tasteless charcoal. It didn’t have any pink at all! I had ordered medium My wife got the same thing. I tried a piece of hers and it was great. I should of said something in person, but it was our valentines dinner and I was asked to not bring it up by my wife. The rest of the food was wonderful , but the 50 dollar steak was not edible. I only ate a bite or two. Our service was awesome. We ended up spending about $260. For three courses each and a bottle of wine.
The pasta was not good. The sea bass was good. Too expensive. $75 for 3 glasses of wine?! Never again.
Wonderful service...exquisite food! Beautiful atmosphere!!! There are a lot of reasons why it is one of Sacramento’s treasured restaurants!!
This is an amazing staple of Sacramento restaurant dining. My wife and I really love this restaurant, absolutely worth drive from wherever you come from. Amazing atmosphere and absolutely great food and service.
Overall the restaurant is way over hyped for what it is. I ordered the salmon with lobster risotto and the fish and the salmon were over cooked. I don’t expect that in that type of a restaurant.
Everything was amazing! The only issue we had was the incredibly rude hostess that night. As soon as we walked in we were immediately judged and given dirty looks by her. Everyone else including our waiter Sean was amazing. He made our night definetly memorable.
Came for Valentine’s Day dinner. We were seated downstairs near the wine cellar. I loved that there were multiple options for the courses. The lobster and crab “stew” was incredible. They gave us a little champagne sorbet to cleanse the pallet which was tasty and classy. The main course had 5 options all great including a vegetarian option. I’m gluten free and they had plenty of options for me. The service was amazing!! Our server was very nice and helpful without being overbearing. Bussers did a great job of reading when we were done and clearing the table. Overall a great visit and well definitely be back.
Valentine's Day prefix was fantastic! Excellent service as well. Thank you Jamin for the excellent service.
Like the Firehouse usually, but this occasion service was slow, never even offered a drink refill, and steak was prepared wrong. Disappointing, particularly for the price
Classic venue with innovative cuisine as well as steakhouse classics. Friendly, welcoming staff.
Staff was amazing. Food was even more amazing. Definitely not on the cheap side but the it was worth it. This is a great place to splurge on the fancy dinner.
