It was just ok. We went as part of restaurant week and it felt like they were just sorta phoning it in. I know they need to make things en masse for these types of events but I expected more.

The food was good but the portion sizes weren't good enough for the price. The service was excellent.

We did dine downtown and it was excellent. I had salmon and my boyfriend had steak. Both were delicious.

Lovely atmosphere for celebrating a birthday. The food was divine and the wine more so. Truly a wonderful experience.

The dine downtown menu was quite good. The friends who had the crime brûlée said it very good. I had the strudel and it was awful. Cold, hard to cut and hardly any apples. A loser. The salmon was lovely.

We’ve been going to The Firehouse for over 25 years and have never been disappointed. It is still the finest dining establishment in Sacramento and would stand well with any restaurant you will ever experience.

The Creme Brule was really good, and so was the citrus salad. Sadly, the steak was overdone and chewy. I think during the dine downtown event the quality may suffer.

Incredibly slow!

Friendly service, but they “forgot” to put our order in or lost it. It took more than an hour to be served.

As usual we had a wonderful meal at Firehouse. It was my wife's birthday and she loved her Chateaubriand and Lobster Tail dinner as did I. This is our go-to restaurant when we want a dat night. The food is always beautifully prepared, we love feeling pampered by the staff and the ambience is warm and quiet, although this night it was high energy, probably due to being game night at the the Golden One. We always recommend the Firehouse and bring our of town guests and business associates here. Everyone loves it.

Weeknight but very busy. Staff was excellent but seemed a little harassed. Handled it well but I think a restaurant with these prices could hire more staff so dining would feel more relaxed. That said, the staff was quick and efficient. Food as always here was excellent. They are big on meat and really know how to prepare it. For beef I would take this over any other steak place in town. Also interesting and well prepared side dishes and salads and great desserts. Overall just an excellent restaurant.

We found everyone at this restaurant working hard to be certain that our every request was taken care of. It is a very well trained staff and we appreciated the service from the time we entered the restaurant until we went out the front door.
There was one handicapped person with us that required the elevator to get to the table we were assigned. A staff member went into the elevator with her and made certain she was escorted to her seat. When we left I just grabbed a bus person and asked him to accompany her and his answer really pleased me--he said "of course I would be happy to"
The food was good and the waiter knew the menu well.

The ambiance and service are good, staff are very friendly. The food is overpriced and mediocre, especially for what they charge. My salmon was fishy and over cooked. That being said the carpaccio was good and my risotto was tasty though a bit overdone. I thought dine downtown would be a good time to see if we would want to come back on another occasion and it seems they weren’t trying to win people over as regular customers, more so trying to fill the restaurant at a slow time serving small portions due to the lower price.

Food was great but portions were small. Not sure if the portions were different in size for menu fixe. We even ordered appetizers to go with it. Fine dinning experience but not family meal place.

We dined here during Dine Downtown Week. We are new to the Sac area and have been trying different places. We were delighted to find a nice high end restaurant with pampered service. The wine list is extensive, the variety of menu options will please any palette. Our food was expertly prepared. We enjoyed the wine pairings with our meal. We will definitely be back and bring guests!

We arrived during the January dining promotion which runs across a number of Sacramento restaurants. We each ordered a couple of cocktails (tasty) followed by a set menu and a flight of wines, as well as some oysters. The greens and citrus salad to start was delightful and fresh and we both enjoyed it; I also liked my butternut squash ravioli ... although my wife's steak was luke warm and uninspired. Possibly because we still had a finger-width of drink left in our cocktails, the waiter did not bring the wine flights during our dinner at all: at the end of the dinner it made more sense to convert them into a single glass of wine. Overall a solid 4 out of 5.

Always a terrific meal with terrific service, and this also held true during Dine Downtown week. We were given sort of an awkward table that was in the middle of the room, and it felt like I was in the middle of the traffic, plus there was a really cold draft coming from somewhere. I’d ask for a table on the edge of the room next time.

Great value with Dine Downtown, but definitely much louder and service slow and unattentive. Took about 20 minutes and asking a different waiter for my brother to get a beer.
For special occasion, was really hard to hear each other. Been here a couple times and like this place, probably wouldn't keep going back for such a high dollar place if it was this loud and slow. I am going to give it another try.

Our creme brûlée dessert was actually burnt with the Carmelized sugar on top becoming too bitter to eat. We told the person who took our plates away to mention to the chef but I doubt he ever did because we were not compensated for the error. Our server put in the bare minimum of time with us present only the menu. Disappointed compared to our experience 3 years ago.

Great food, but we will not be back. The service was quite bad. We were rushed throughout our meal and the check was presented as the dessert was set for us. The waiter was nowhere to be found throughout dinner. My husband ordered one drink and was hoping to order another one, but we could not find the waiter. We were also offered pepper for our salad when it was served, but the pepper never came. Finally, I did not order a drink, as I’m pregnant. At the end of the meal, as we were leaving, the waiter looked at me and exclaimed “Oh, that’s why you are not drinking!” Seems very inappropriate.
My husband and I try a lot of restaurants during Restaurant Week and this is the first one we ever came across that we had a bad experience. There are too many great restaurants in Sacramento to waste time and money at one with such poor service.

The Firehouse restaurant has the best steaks in Sacramento. The wine selection may very well be the largest in the area. Their service staff is well trained and very attentive. Their inside accommodations are of historic standards (both upstairs and downstairs) and the outdoor dining experience couldn't be better. Beautiful! If you want a real treat have the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Mario Ortiz. A real gentleman who as a storied career at The Firehouse. He hosts a small wine tasting in one of two wine cellars every Tuesday night. There is a small charge but the experience and tastings are one to be remembered for a lifetime. If you experience all that The Firehouse Restaurant has to offer you will agree it is a treasure that provides all of the best in fine dining, great wine, and a beautiful historical ambiance!

We always love this restaurant. It’s beautiful and so is the food. And the food is always delicious. The service is outstanding. It was my sons birthday and he was treated like a king. The complimentary creme brûlée he got was scrumptious. Never even the slightest complaint when we dine here.

We usually LOVE The Firehouse and have been coming here for years. Must have been an off night on Saturday though. My steak was waaayyy overcooked and the noise level in the restaurant was HUGE. Maybe just a busy Saturday night. Please bring back the cucumber sorbet! The champagne one was too sweet and not palette cleansing or refreshing. We did get to see Holgar so that was nice.

I ordered the filet mignon. It was the most bland, overcooked filet I've ever had. I ordered medium-rare. It was well done and tasted like it had absolutely no seasoning. My husband had rack of lamb, which was overcooked as well. Also, waiter couldn't accommodate my low-carb request and switch out my mashed potatoes for anything veggie. Major letdown, as the meal during our last visit here was awesome.
