The Firehouses Dine Downtown was an excellent experience. There were 4 of us and everyones meal was great. Plus they had really good fights of wine for a great price.
One of the nicest upscale restaurants in Sacramento! The food was cooked to perfection and the service, impeccable!
I enjoyed the whole experience with the exception of the girl who told me to”Go downstairs and look at the seating and come back up and let her know if that’s where I want to sit.” I consider that poor customer service not to be escorted to our our seats since I already told her that is where we preferred to be seated.
Beautiful location, historical ambiance detailed with loads of celebrity pictures. Sacramento dine out 2020 brought us here and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff, quality food made for an exciting evening experience. Prices would probably be the reason I don’t return soon however i can truly say dinner was fabulous. I’m sorry but I’m a cheap date and would rather grill a steak at home.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. Overall a great experience, but the hostess wasn’t very friendly. We ended up waiting 10 minutes past our reservation time. Another couple was seated before us without having made a reservation. The hostess threw my napkin at me... But the food was wonderful.
We all enjoyed the meal at the Firehouse. I would like to note a few things. First, I have a lot of allergies; my experience with the food was exceptional. It was tasty and the options were such that it was very easy for me to have a well balanced delicious meal without any of the difficulty my allergies frequently cause. The Dine Out menu was a very economical choice and we also very much enjoyed the wine flights - great options! The portion size of the salads, entrees and desserts were perfectly sized for a satisfying meal for both men and women at the table. The only slight negative was that we were seated in a corner surrounded by windows and it was very cold in winter. I suggest the staff be aware of this as being cold cut in to our experience negatively however, next time we will simply ask for a table away from the windows.
Arrived early to have a drink at the bar and was happy to find Drambuie on their shelves. Not everyone carries my favorite- 1st point.
Our friends were running late, but the host assured us it wasn’t a problem. 15 minutes later my GF and I were seated, but still waiting for our friends. The host and servers gave no attention to it other than to be sure we were well taken care of - 2nd point
Friends arrived, servers were attentive and friendly and the food was outstanding!!! - 3rd point
Participated in the Dine Downtown event which I highly recommend - 4th point
Valet service and great bartenders- 5th point
Now you know why I rated 5 stars
Amazing food and great service! It was our first time there and we’ll definitely be back!
Wonderful, elegant, top notch dinner to celebrate a birthday! Ambience is wonderful with warm beautiful decor of brick, paintings, floral vases, chandeliers, and white linens. Service is the best with the most attentive wait staff. Friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Ordered the salmon, strip steak and rib eye steaks. Rib eye steak was fine but not great. Fatty and not as tender as prime meats. Mash potatoes and broccoli on the side were average. The salmon filet looked boring. The starters were very good - gem and blue salad, trio and mixed greens. Desserts were good - chocolate marbled cheesecake and Meyer lemon creme brûlée. Birthday gal received fruit creme brûlée complimentary. Memorable experience for all!
Excellent in all respects. Food, atmosphere, service, ambience. We have not been to The Firehouse in a number of years. It was really nice to revisit an old favorite, and remind ourselves to come back especially for special occasions.
Wonderful evening out at the firehouse and fantastic food! Thanks!
I spent over $100 for two people on the Dine Downtown Fixe Prix menu. We sent the chicken back because it was so dry it was inedible. Round two was marginally better but still dry and tasteless. The salad was skimpy. I will never go back to a restaurant that can't prepare a simple chicken breast.
The experience with the host upon arrival was classless and not fitting of a nice restaurant. The timing of the waiter was off and he admitted he normally only worked banquets and was his first time working dinner service. The drinks from the bar were weak and one actually tasted bitter and had to be sent back. The food was decent but not worth money spent in comparison to other restaurant options in the area. Overall very disappointed and won’t be going back.
Hi Brendan, we’re sorry that we weren’t at our best at your visit during Dine Downtown. Our General Manager will be contacting you via telephone to get more information on your experience. We hope you’ll give us another chance to impress you.
Great Loved the lemon creme brûlée
Hadn't been to Firehouse for some time but food and service still excellent. We went during dine out week and enjoyed our 3 course meal. The anniversary wine flight was well worth the extra $$.
Excellent, as always over the years. Part of Dine Downtown Sacramento, so had a very reasonable prix fixe menu. We added the butternut squash gnocchi as an extra appetizer; later found out from our server that it’s an unlisted menu item ad an entree - I could have made a whole meal out of this dish, which is out of this world as is the Meyer lemon creme brulee for dessert!
Great classic rich American fare! Service impeccable!
Our dining experience at the Firehouse during the Jan 2020 restaurant week was superior. We each were served a fresh, delicious and visually appealing salad of greens, chopped apple, and walnuts, a New York strip steak that was perfectly seasoned/cooked with accompanying sun dried tomato butter, roasted green beans and flavorful mashed potatoes, and we finished with a scrumptious Meyer lemon creek brûlée. The service by our waiter Jeremy was friendly and attentive, and the whole place had an enjoyable “hum” of happy diners. We will definitely return for another great dining experience in the future. Bravo Firehouse Restaurant!!!
Going to The Firehouse is a special treat. The atmosphere is elegant, but not intimidating. You can enjoy a delightful meal in a relaxed setting.
We so enjoyed our Dine Downtown event at the Firehouse. The staff did an outstanding job of dealing with all ten of us older folks. The seating was in the perfect place for such a large group, the staff was friendly and helpful, the menu accommodated everyone. It was a perfect evening. We’ve put it on our group calendar to return. Thank you.
Wonderful night at the firehouse. Amazing dine downtown menu. Perfect service. Gracious. Relaxed and friendly.
Excellent customer service, delicious food, nice atmosphere
We went to Dine Downtown. The food was great and the service excellent.
I have been to The Firehouse in the past and have never had a stellar experience. I returned though to give it another chance because perhaps it was an 'off night' when I went before. Sadly, the bread was very dry, even the replacement rolls were dry. The two person tables were uncomfortably close together. Considering the price point and the reputation of The Firehouse, the food was simply 'ok' and the service 'mediocre'.
We were looking for a fish place, someone recommended that place. The food is excellent, the service incredible. Wine list is insane (and expensive).
Such a lovely location for a nice lunch; romance, catch-up or business. Doting attention by staff is welcome in this fast paced world
I went with my sister and participated in Dine Downtown. I got the steak which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The waiter suggested adding a lobster tail for us to split. The food was delicious, and our waiter was terrific. I saved food to take home (half of everything), and one of the staff (different from our waiter) took our plates to box in "the back". He returned with our boxes. We got dessert and paid the bill. We were about to leave, but I decided to check the boxes to make sure my sister's and my food weren't swapped. It's good I checked - items were missing from my box (the half lobster tail and green beans)! We let our waiter know, he apologized, and they replaced the missing items with a new batch (lol, exactly - half the tail and some green beans) which took 15 minutes. I understand it was an error, but it was a disappointing end to our otherwise fabulous dinner. TL,DR: Even though it's a "fancy" place, make sure you check your leftovers before you leave.
The French green beans with the steak and Yukon mash was very salty otherwise everything else was tasty.
We went to Dine Downtown for our anniversary. It had been awhile since we had been to the Firehouse, but it is always remembered fondly! ( it is celebrating 60 years). The special menu had a very nice food and wine selection (we chose the Steak and Salmon entrees). Service was excellent, attentive and friendly. Formal atmosphere, but relaxed! Each member of the Team from hostess, food runners, porters and the server did a fabulous job. A special added touch of an extra dessert for our anniversary!(that meant we took the cheesecake home!).
We truly enjoyed the entire evening and won’t wait so long to return!
Our server Melissa was excellent.
We ate from the Dine Downtown menu. My companion loved his salmon. My steak was tough, sides ordinary. Lemon Creme Brulee delicious.
Cocktails were very good. Wine pairings not great.
The service was amazing! Jeremy our server was amazing! Food was great but the dessert was the best I’ve had in a long time. Definitely will be back!
First time trying Firehouse and it was amazing, I definitely will be coming back in the near future to try more on the menu
My husband and I visited the Firehouse last year for Dine Downtown and loved the rosemary bread. We came back again this year looking forward to having it again and we were disappointed to find they took it off the menu. We were served regular toasted sourdough and wheat rolls instead.
Restaurant was cold. Food was cold too. Liked the taste and flavor.
Went in for Dine Downtown. As always, the food and service were excellent. The restaurant was busy, yet we were given the desired type of table. Our server was prompt at anticipating our needs. The menu for Dine Downtown was excellent quality and value. Everything was perfect!
The service was amazing but everything else was not. It was our ten year anniversary celebration and we came to the Firehouse for the second time. The first time was great. This time the food was poorly executed. The pork belly was extremely dry and burned. The only thing that made it palatable was the fat layer but it was without a doubt the worst Pork Belly we’ve eaten. The Salmon tartare was fairly bland and poor tasting. The accompanying bread was overly crispy and sliced my mouth (to be fair the wife loved the crostini’s). The bread and the Meyer Lemon Creme Brûlée’s were good.
The restaurant is billed as romantic but we were placed at a table for two in the middle and the place was extremely noisy and did not feel at all “romantic”. We did see some booth type tables that might have been better but the restaurant chose this special “Anniversary” table for us and did not have anything else available. Great on service again but poor on execution.
Overall we will not be coming back. There are too many excellent locations which delight the palate to risk coming back and being disappointed again.
The food, service and ambiance were spot on. We enjoyed our meal very much. We will be back.
Absolutely wonderful! Best date night yet! ❤️❤️
Hadn't been in year and forgot what a wonderful restaurant it is. Beautiful decor, excellent service and the food was outstanding.
Always great food and service. The steak was perfect.
