Took my LA cousin for the first time and she wants to go nowhere else in Sac now! Glad we had reservations through Open Table; dining room packed on a Wednesday night. Great food as always, and leftovers packed in an elegant bag. Rib eye with black truffle butter - what else is there to say?!
we have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in Charleston North Carolina, Madison Wisconsin, and New Orleans and Firehousey by far has been the best! We will be flying back and will be eating at the firehouse once again.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Our experience at this restaurant was a highlight of our vacation. Food and service excellent. We were even treated to a tour of the restaurant which is a former Fire Station as its name suggests. Service was particularly memorable, friendly yet professional. Thank you Firehouse!
This is our 2nd anniversary being married, our 5th “ date” at the Firehouse. We got married at this restaurant 2 years ago and it will forever be our place. Our first date was here, our wedding was here, and our anniversary will always be here. We Would not change an thing. We always look forward to this night. ( we do randomly come here but its most sentimental for the anniversary).
The Firehouse is really old Sacramento. It is elegant, refined and exciting. A great place for a special occasion . Mario the Matire De of 45 years is charming. I think he has 43, 000 bottles of wine in his collection. Great food and service. It is noisy but charming noise. Jim Dodds September 16, 2019
We hadn’t been here for dinner in 5 years since moving out of state. It was always one of the better high end restaurants in Sacramento. Wow ! Not anymore. The food was very poor. No flavor, under seasoned and over cooked is the best way to describe it. Both dishes my wife and I ordered were over cooked and not edible. The timing was very poor as we waited easily 25 minutes between courses at one point. No attention to detail for what used to be a really nice experience.
Besides the food, apparently they have no dress code anymore either. Maybe it’s because they need those customers in t shirts to make up for the mediocre food they serve ?
Sadly, we will never go back.
Hi Jeff, we're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your recent visit. We take reviews like yours seriously and our GM will be contacting you shortly to discuss your dining experience.
Mario is fantastic! So is the serving staff! Thank you for going out of your way to greet my guests and congratulate them on a life achievement - very friendly and personable....as if you had us in your own dining room at home!
Delicious food and professional service. Lunch in the Courtyard is always a real treat! Thank You!
Fantastic food and service! A must for fine dinner in downtown Sacramento
Good food, very pricey, tired decor, fussy wait staff, too many wait staff. Felt old and tired inside and needs updating. The half circle bench seats were dated and not secured, they flipped up when we exited the seating.....won't go again.
Matt was a great bartender.
Food and food service was outstanding.
Was a great atmosphere
I have been going to The Firehouse Restaurant for several years. This last experience was horrible! Steaks were over cooked and tasted like a salt block. The waiter was very rude and unprofessional as well as the manager. Very sad and disappointed that this restaurant has gone downhill.
Bartenders are great!
Hi Madeline, we are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your most recent dining experience with us. We take reviews like yours seriously, and our General Manager will be contacting you soon to get more information.
It was amazing!!! Staff was super friendly informative and attentive. First time there and I was just blown away! It’s pricey but worth it! Food and dessert was delicious! Definitely recommend this place especially for date nights!
Excellant service. Filet Mignon and Rib Eye steaks were done to perfection, medium rare and very tasty. Highly recommend Firehouse for a classy restaurant with unique historical setting.
I travel all around and this was one of best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Main difference is staff really go out of their way. Very very professional and staff really care. Of course, excellent food, great drinks, awesome atmosphere and perhaps the best wine list I have ever seen. Surprising this gem of a restaurant is in a smaller town, but maybe that’s why the staff are so incredible.
I ordered the Farm-to-Fork Chef's Tasting Menu and was amazed at the quality of the selections, as well as the presentation.
We celebrated our 15th year wedding anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time. It was a quiet week night and the staff was attentive and super friendly. The food came in less than 30 minutes. I would recommend not eating the bread as that was just okay and will take up too much space in your belly for the rest of the food, which is so worth it! We had the Firehouse Trio, and it was divine! The braised local pork belly was melt in your mouth delicious. I was so tempted to order a second helping of just the pork belly. We ordered the caesar salad and they split it into two plates so we could share, which was the perfect size so we had room for our entrees. The homemade caesar dressing was delicious and the homemade croutons was so good. My husband ordered the specialty cut classic rib-eye and it was delicious. We've had rib-eye steaks from Prime Steakhouse in Vegas and other expensive places and it didn't even compare. I had pan roasted breast of organic chicken. It was delicious and tender but the skin was too fatty so I had to take that off. For dessert we ordered, the Chocolate Pave Gateau since that was the most popular but it was just okay. We should have gone with the Cherry Bombe which was recommended by another waiter. We were surprised with my favorite dessert at the end, creme brulee which was not even on the menu! That was the topping to a great evening. The only hiccup was there was a fly, flying around our table. We did tell one of the waiters but they didn't do anything about it so that was annoying. My husband had a gin and tonic and I enjoyed a sweet moscato and it was so good. I'm still thinking about it days later. We will definitely be going back but next time I want to sit in the outdoor tables. My next visit will be with my girlfriends.
Extremely fresh oysters and the steaks did not disappoint. Will definitely revisit in the future.
Great food and amazing service! Well worth it!! Celebrated a birthday and they did a great job. Tuna tar tar appetizer best I’ve ever had!!
The food was amazing! The Ny Strip special was cooked perfect and my wife loved the Lamb! Def going back!
Filet mignon was delicious 😋
Will coma back here again
Made for a wonderful dining experience
We always choose the Firehouse for special occasions. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding.
Birthday lunch for my daughter who was married in the Courtyard where we ate. Great meal, service, and memories.
the lunch was OK not as good as I remember from a few years back ..service was very good..enjoyed the lunch.. will try and come back before the year is over...
Lunch in the Courtyard....priceless! Service was excellent,
Spent a lovely early lunch in the garden area. It was magical. Service and food was great
Food excellent and the service was wonderful! We really enjoyed our dinner
and our time there!!
I have been coming here since I was a little girl, and it never fails to impress. Food was excellent, as was the service.
The food is superb! We had the Chefs 3 course special which was outstanding. Everything was so yummy! They know what they're doing in the kitchen. No windows in the dining room which makes the place kind of claustrophobic. Corkerage fee was $25 which is a bit high. But overall a lovely experience.
We were sat immediately upon arriving at our reservation time, the waiter/sommelier gave outstanding service and explained the whole menu to us as well! Food was the best we had ever had for a great price. My boyfriend and I agreed we would travel back in the future simply for this restaurant!
Thank you Michelle! We are so glad you enjoyed your meal, and we love to hear that that the service was excellent. We look forward to serving you again soon!
Service was slow despite them asking, and me confirming that I had only an hour as it was lunchtime. Also, the food was slightly underwhelming...garlic soup that tasted like clam less chowder.
It was our 25th anniversary and they treated us very good. My wife felt special when they brought dessert and happy anniversary was written on the plate in chocolate.
Outstanding food and great service. One of the best in Sacramento.
I've waited a long time to dine at Firehouse so we waited for a special occasion, and unfortunately we were left underwhelmed. Food was good but not great, but after finding a hair in our first course it set the tone for the rest of the meal. They replaced the appetizer, but didn't even ask if we wanted the SAME item again. What if we didn't want another hair glistening appetizer? After you find 1 hair, it makes you question if there was anymore in that same dish. Server made no attempts to compensate for the restaurants mishap, the rest of the meal was fine but the service felt cold and distant. The next time my girlfriend and I choose to spend $200 on one meal, it won't be at Firehouse.
Hi Natasha, I just posted this same response to your review on Yelp as well. We're sorry you didn't enjoy your experience and what you've described is uncharacteristic of the restaurant. You will be hearing from restaurant management directly regarding your reviews.
We went to the Firehouse to celebrate my lady’s birthday. It was the perfect place, even though neither of us had been there in years. We brought our own wine, an older Silver Oak Cabernet, so steaks were in order. She enjoyed a wonderful filet, paired with a lobster tail, while I had a ribeye. Both were prepared exactly as ordered. The lobster was moist and tender, simply wonderful. Our waiter was excellent, friendly and attentive, knowlegable.
The Firehouse was a great choice and I expect we’ll be returning sooner than later.
My dish was great. My wife ordered a dish based on the waiter’s recommendation that she did not like. My wife told the waiter that she did not like the food. I was hoping that the waiter would replace the dish for her, but he did not offer to bring her another dish. We spent over $150 for a dinner for two plus $30 in tips. At minimum, the Resturant could have offered a different dish to my wife.
It was the perfect restaurant for us to celebrate our selling of our family home with our realtor. The food was excellent, the service was very good, wonderful ambiance...excellent but not overdone...we were very comfortable there and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the great review, and congratulations on the sale of your home! Thank you for being our guest and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again soon.
The service and food were a could not have been any better.
