The Firehouse Restaurant

We went for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were greeted with a smile and asked if we wanted to hang our coats. The food was AMAZING. Probably the best I’ve ever had. And the staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. I can’t wait to go back.
We decided to have our anniversary dinner at The Firehouse last weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed each course and appreciated the great service. We hadn't been there in over 30 years and can honestly say the quality of their food is much better now. We'll definitely be back.
Excellent on everything
Amazing service but my rib eye was just ok. Wife had the sea bass and loved it.
My first impression of this place was very positive. I loved the service and the ambiance was great. I only had one complaint if I would even call it that. The food was good but not outstanding. I ordered the appetizer and it was undercooked. Could have used 3 more minutes in the oven. Also the meal itself while delicious, was not worth the price I think. I have had much better elsewhere for a better price. That said it was enjoyable and I would go back.
Great food and great service. Staff was amazing and very helpful.
It was a great experience! Food was wonderful! But there was some guests near us that were loud and a bit disturbing since we wanted a very quiet and elegant dinner. Staff is very knowledgeable and professional.
Our waitress, Noel, was especially gracious in giving us a tour and sharing history of the restaurant. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was charming.
We had dinner at The Firehouse for Valentine's day last year and it was good, not great but good. We decided to give them another shot this year hoping last year was a fluke. It wasn't. We started the meal with the caviar and foie gras...both were "meh". For our 1st course we had the falafel with apple chutney,it was good. 2nd course we had the salad and wild mushroom and truffle bisque. The salad was a bit heavy on the dressing and the bisque was a tad heavy on the pepper but both were good otherwise. Next,we had the filet of beef and asparagus goat cheese puff pastry. The beef was good, the pastry was overcooked and the flavor was just okay. For dessert we had the chocolate 2 ways and the lemon poppy seed cake, both were very good. Overall the food was just ok. For $500 I expect better than just ok. The service was stellar in the restaurant. The valet not so much (it was pouring rain when we left and they parked us in a puddle). The ambiance was nice, though it would have been nicer if it were more festive than just red balloons for Valentine's day. The portions were a bit large,I'd prefer smaller portions of better quality food.Don't think we'll be back.
Fun valentines dinner with great food!
Wonderful service and wonderful food
Valentines with my wife. One of our all time favorite restaurants. The service was great as usual. The main courses were good, but not great. The appetizer, salad, soup and deserts were incredible. Still one of our favorite spots for a romantic dinner.
Have been here several times and prior experiences were terrific. Decided to do the cliche Valentines Day date and was dissapointed. Food was cold, service was lackluster, inquired about a specific bottle of wine and our waiter knew nothing about it and suggested something else. I do not mind spending top dollar for a great experience but overall this trip was not worth the money. I will not be back soon and will definitely never dine here on a Holiday of any sorts.
The Duck Confit was absolutely amazing...and the Two-Way CHOCOLATE PAVÉ GÂTEAU was fantastic.
Awesome place. Great food and service plus the wine selection is unrivaled
The food was okay. The steak did not need to be burned the lobsters was still ok it’s shell supposed to be ontop take off all of the nasty bits. Decent inviroment
Super fantastic food and service. Staff was extremely courteous. Beautiful atmosphere!
Just a lunch with hubby
Way over priced for the quality and amount of food, entrees start in the $40+ range. For that kind of money I would rather go to mortons
Food was sublime!!!!!!! The service was offensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was terrible
Wonderful experience! This restaurant has a classic, old time feel with a modern, delicious menu.
Everything was excellent
We ordered appetizers and didn't receive them. Service was average.
It was exceptional from the minute I walked through the door! I had a pre Valentine’s Day date with my gf and you all made it special for us! Thank you for your passion of food and wine!
Classic restaurant. Excellent food, terrific wine list, attentive service, all in a very attractive setting. What's not to like?
The setting was fine. One thing that was uncomfortable though was the two gentleman at the front of the dining staring at what seemed like every bite I took. It was almost as if I was being analyzed as I was eating. It did make it uncomfortable for my wife and I. Most of the food was above average, but the eye of rib steak I ordered was over cooked from the “medium” that I ordered, and subsequently no different then what I can BNQ in my own backyard. The clam bisque was amazing, as was the bread and mashed potatoes. Overall, it failed to live up to the price tag.
We were there for my husbands birthday, and from the moment we walked in we were rushed, as if they couldn’t get us out fast enough. They even cleared my husbands plate before he could say anything and he clearly wasn’t done eating. The filets were over cooked and over peppered, leading two of the diners not to eat it at all. At no point did anyone check on the food or why two women at the table were not eating their dinner. We had come here before and the first few times seemed worth it, but the last few visits have confirmed we will not be dining here again. Especially when we live in a city full of amazing food.
The Firehouse is always a treat, but this meal - everything was executed magnificently. The flavors of everything were amazing. There are not enough superlative words to describe how much I loved this meal.
The Fire House top on my list.
Extremely accommodating, & super friendly staff.
Great Menu / Wine List.
Just Classy enough to give you that High End Feeling, but warm atmosphere making you feel special.
The presentation and delectable taste of the food was wonderful. However, the generous number of scallops (5) was offset by the teaspoon (maybe a teaspoon) of creamed vegetables served under the scallops. For the $41 price, it would be nice to have a few vegetables included with the dish. The lamb
and pork chop had lovely vegetables accompanying the dishes, so it is inexcusable that the scallops basically had none. The salmon dish was very nice in appearance, but the risotto was not the toasty hot
one would hope for. A 10 on taste, but not so good in light of the absence of vegetables for the scallop
Food was good, one of us scallops that were over cooked
Great wait staff, bar and bar tending
Surprising lack of scope on wine list
This place is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A must if your in Sacramento
Awesome as always when we dine here
When I realized The Firehouse Restaurant is in the heart of Old Sacramento I was a bit afraid that it would be touristy and over-hyped. Not at all. While it does have the ambiance of bygone days everything about our evening was first class. Passing the well-stocked bar on the way in I overheard the bartender in an involved discussion with someone at the bar regarding the merits of either a scotch or a bourbon. Further in, the lovely dining room housed a family celebrating an anniversary, a young couple who looked as if he was popping the question, an older couple holding hands across the table, a group of men discussing business......it is appropriate for every occasion. The menu was varied, interesting and delicious...my husband's papardelle was excellent, and my rack of lamb was out of this world. The wine list was equally impressive. All-in-all, while not the least expensive meal I've ever had, it was certainly worth every penny! Now if we could only get them to serve a good ristretto!
Excellent filet. Top notch quality.
A wonderful, relaxed dinner after spending the day in Old Sacramento.
We stopped going to the Firehouse because of several bad experiences with the service in the past.
When my friend asked to go there for her birthday I hesitated . We agreed to give it one more chance as we did miss the food.
To say that we were pleasantly surprised by the service would be an understatement.
The food was as good as we remembered. It was the wonderful freindly service that that made us glad to give it another chance.
