Love the Field house, would like a few more food and wine selections! Love the ambiance, service and unique location!
The fritatta was delicious. And the brussel sprouts...yum! They are very gluten free friendly and are well aware of cross contamination and what the ingredients are in each selection. Highly recommend.
Good new years dinner. It was a little frustrating to have made a reservation and then arrive to have it be open seating. It was awarkd to eat sitting in a chair without a table. I guess i expect to have a table if i make a reservation. Otherwise the food was good as always and a very fun atmosphere.
What a fun way to have a marvelous dinner on New Year’s Eve!
This was a special evening for The Fieldhouse. They did a buffet for New Years Eve. We took the buffet plus four-drink flight for $70. The food there is always interesting and good, but we were willing to pay extra for a special event and different drinks. The event lasted from 6-9 pm and there was an interesting variety from nibbles like their brussel sprouts and candied dates/nuts (I think) to a kimchee dip and a lovely, simple salad with vinaigrette (plus more) to roast beef, mac & cheese, tater tot casserole, a celeriac mash and lastly sweets. We enjoyed the food and drink immensely. They had some logistical challenges in keeping things hot and serving dishes filled. But this is their first time with this type of event. Also, there was a shortage of tables given the open seating concept. We felt fortunate to get a dining table, rather than a pair of seats around a low drinks table. But if the flow of people was right, I can easily see starting with one of the comfy couches for before-dinner drinks and nibbles and then moving to a dining table for the actual meal. We've spent several decades living in Europe and loved the relaxed way that we got to eat and chat. The buffet concept was wonderful as we got to go back for more of our favorites but also got to try everything. We spent 3 hours there and loved it. We would definitely do this again.
Food was good but portions were small for the price.
While the ambiance was great, I was not impressed with the pricing. 2 burgers, 3 beers, $53 bucks. I feel there should have been more of a selection for food (like their wine selection lol). Overall, great customer service and very clean restaurant.
We took our family from out of town to share our favorite restaurant with them. Once again, The Fieldhouse did not disappoint. Every request was met with a smile. Our grandma was so impressed with the food and service, she had to find our waitress on our way out to tell her just that.
We went for dinner. I had the delicious meatloaf sandwich. Great melding of flavors. Our table also dined on the lamb and the special of the day. All unique and scrumptious. Excellent service. Priced right.
Always a delightful experience. Lovely setting, nice people and super yummy food. The pumpkin hummus was delicious! So glad to have a place like this in Billings.
The food and service was outstanding. Everyone who works at the Field House was smiling that day, which leads me to believe that it's a great place to work. The Field House is definitely a great place to dine and socialize!
The atmosphere was so relaxing and so beautiful and the food was amazing! We love coming here!
We loved every bit of our experience at dinner. A couple things that would make the experience over the top include:
-add a non-alcoholic beer to the menu, such as Buckler or St. Pauli Girl
-change out the chairs in the main dining area that people sink way down into. We changed out one of our seats when another patron told us, and then a couple sat at the table with two chairs like that and they were quite a bit lower than the table.
For our dinner, the ham chowder was excellent, as were the Brussels sprouts, the meatballs, and the Teres Major. My wife had the noodles and they were as good as the time we had them before.
Such a great dinner and will be back soon!
The Fieldhouse is one of Billings' bright spots! We try to eat here every time we come to Montana.
We had a holiday gathering with family. We had an excellent dinner although we were surprised that all specials were sold out early on a Saturday nightz
This was my second time eating at this establishment. I noticed right away that the menu changed since the first visit nearly a year ago. The food choices had changed which was ok but now everything is priced separately. I had the steak shoulder, a salad and fries and all three of these items had separate prices. I’m just not a fan of this style. For example, I thought that $6.00 for a small dish of fries was a bit pricey. All the food was great, I’m just not a fan of their pricing scheme. I do recommend The Field House for good food and atmosphere. It’s nice that you can visit and have a conversation in an atmosphere that isn’t loud.
The chef is amazing and the selection of local cheese and wine is vast.
It was our 21st Anniversary. Delicious meal!
Innovative, tasty dishes. Had the salmon over lentils. Great dinner!
Really enjoy the fresh ingredients, healthy food. Local ownership is important to us. Service is great. Staff understanding of dietary restrictions is really appreciated.
Our food was outstanding, service - not so much. Server took very long time coming to take order, didn’t check back on us. When someone in our party requested a “to go” box, we again had an extended wait as well as a long wait for the check. The restaurant was not busy. Quality meal hampered by inattentive service.
I was looking forward to eating at the Fieldhouse and went there for Sunday Brunch. They were out of the menu item I would have liked so I had the fritatta which was good but not good value for what it was. I would try the Fieldhouse again. This was my first time and I think my expectations were too high.
We made our reservation through open table. When we arrived we were told there were no tables and they would seat us soon. Fortunately someone left and we were seated after a short time. We waited 10 minutes for a glass of water, another 10 minutes for drinks and a total of an hour and 15 minutes for our meal to arrive.
My meatloaf sandwich was fine. My wife's chicken thighs were two broiled thighs with literally nothing on them. The entire experience was very disappointing and we will not return.
OVERALL I felt the prices of the dishes to be very overpriced considering the very modest ingredients. You literally served tater tots as a main dish with a milder version of velveeta cheese on it and some bacon bits for a whopping 13 dollars? Seriously? The recommended plate of the day was a stale piece of white bread and some uneventful vegetables with a mild sauce that resembled pesto and some unsavoury bacon--equally underwhelming. Not my idea of fine dining unfortunately but the atmosphere did have some charm if you did not focus on the enormous bare wall with holes in it and very cold steel seating. Some attention to detail would not be remiss here.
The best thing was the Mimosa as it was creative with the Tumeric but that was all I am afraid. You need to up your A game here and start respecting the food you are serving more and adjust your prices if you continue to serve mediocre fair.
Food was enjoyable, but probably better suited to a lunch. Atmosphere was quite loud as the evening went on. It became impossible to have a conversation by 7 pm, so we left to have dessert and drinks elsewhere.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal and business meeting. Loved the meatloaf sandwich
Sunday brunch at Fieldhouse is always a treat. I very much enjoyed the kale, broccoli, etc., frittata, which was artfully served in a style much like a quiche. We'll be back!
Excellent as always!!
Went to lunch with a friend - we both had the french toast with the gingered plums & we both said "wow" - the waitstaff was pleasant, not hovering too much. Fun experience, would recommend.
Another wonderful dinner experience at our favorite restaurant in Billings. Delicious foods and wine with great service
Went for a birthday dinner and the service was not good. Waited for drinks for a long time and the place wasn't that busy. Then when the waitress brought the drinks she forgot one and waited another 10 minutes for that drink to arrive. I ordered the rib-eye and it was average at best. The potatoes were good, but the steak was a let down. My wife ordered the carbonara and it was not good, it had a strip of bacon that was under cooked on top of it. We have been to the Fieldhouse for brunch in the past and it was good food, but the dinner was a big disappointment. Our visit was the evening of Oct 5 2018.
As usual, the food was great.. and the service was impeccable! Bryan was attentive, kind and efficient!
The general vibe of the establishment was young, modern, and timeless. The chicken thighs I got did not quite hit the mark for me but the brussel sprout appetizer was so good I got over it. I enjoyed their locally sourced and limited menu, and that it was clear the owners put a lot of love into their business. I would come here again and recommend it to friends passing through.
Thank you Jace! You made our experience unforgettable! And the carbonara was AMAZING! Thanks for going the extra mile... even down to the red pepper flakes! Delish! But the outstanding service we received with Jace is what will bring us back!
My wife and I believe we found the best restaurant in Billings while visiting for an evening. The service was great, the menu selection had a nice seasonal variety for us to choose fresh ingredients from, and portions were plentiful. We appreciate restaurants who experiment with what's locally grown and in season so we may need to come back.
Great experience. Really friendly people and nicec atmosphere. We really enjoyed eating at The Fieldhouse.
We have been frequenting the Fieldhouse for a few months now. Especially appreciate the fact that they change up their menu and have vegan options. Really nice staff.
I was looking for a place to get a healthy meal while in Billings on a business trip. The Fieldhouse fit the bill. The food was incredible, from the Brussels Sprouts with a Cashew Parmesan crust and a sun-dried tomato aioli, to the Salmon and Lentils in Red Curry. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, they topped it off with a raspberry brownie with homemade vanilla ice cream. Everything was fresh, local, and delicious. The service was top notch and the atmosphere is relaxing and modern. When I am next in Billings, I will be going back. If you are local, you need to go!
My brother and I went for an early dinner. We started with the tartare and the meat & cheese board. Both were excellent, the bone marrow was the standout feature between the two appetizers. For the main entrees my brother went with the ribeye which had a well developed crust while still being perfectly cooked throughout. I went with the duck breast and was thrilled by the medley of flavors throughout the dish. It was a little on the expensive side for local area dining options but in my opinion well worth it. We both will be going back again.
One of my favorite restaurants in Billings! Love it every single time!
