Love the location as it is in an old bank built in the 20's so the architecture is beautiful. This is going to be our new spot for bottomless weekend brunch as it was $22 for the mimosas and an entree. I had the pulled pork hash and hubby had the breakfast burrito with carnitas. Both were delish and we could have shared due to the size.

Even though I read of horrible service our server was great, just can't remember her name. Like I said, we'll be back :)

Beautiful building ... cavernous space making it very noisy
My salad was terrible and our Clients special of the night was left uneaten. Embarrassing to us to say the least. Won’t be back.

Had brunch and we both went with the classic breakfast. The cook seems to struggle with making over easy eggs but the bacon is quite delicious and cooked perfectly. Harder to get bacon cooked right than eggs but oh well.

Love the setting - but its some how off. Would be a great bar - but the space is so big they have to do the restaurant as well - but the food is definitely an after thought. Ordered the bacon brussel sprouts
- really good. Ordered the kung pao calamari - terrible. The waitress apologized and said we got the last order of the night - which was why they were cold. Took it off the bill - which was nice. Had the salmon, it was good - not great. Ordered an old fashioned - good. Took 30 minutes for dessert to be delivered - only real slip up in the service, but they took it off the bill...Good waitress, decent food, cool ambiance.

The salmon was delicious! However we all agreed the lobster bisque was merely infused with lobster as there was no lobster in it. Very disappointing. I really wanted to like this place.

Short staffed, our waitress was bussing too many tables than she could handle. Forgetting to get refills on drinks, gave us our bill with an item we didn't order. I have eaten here before and service is typically a bit better. Food was great though.

Absolutely loved this venue. Lovely 1930s music in the background. Great service, historic building, delicious options, including vegan. We had a family dinner followed by a late business meeting. The venue served well for both scenarios.

Only wish was that there weren’t distracting televisions at each side of the bar. Dampened the beautiful ambience.

I visited The Federal with an out-of-state friend, and it was a nice dinner spot! We went on a Monday night, and it was pretty dead. It is all in one large room, so it's apparent when the place isn't busy. We split an assortment of appetizers and both had sangria, which was great but almost non-alcoholic. They had a good bottomless sangria deal, which would be nice if you weren't driving!

I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and know it would be great on a Friday or Saturday night.

I've been here several times before on the weekend and great experiences, so when I friend came to town, I suggested we go here. We made a reservation for Tuesday at 6pm, but we got there around 5:15 so we just sat at the bar. There were maybe 10 other customers there at the time. I mentioned to the bartender that I thought I read about a Long Beach dinner special this week, and he said he didn't know anything about it. Moving on, the food was good but the service was so slow and the bartenders were not attentive. When we left after dinner, the back of the happy hour specials sign shows the Dine LBC special (not sure why pic won't attach). We were really disappointed we missed out on that, and I probably won't bring friend here again

Love the atmosphere. As always, service was exceptional. Love that they leave a carafe of mimosas instead of waiting to be refilled. I only wish the mimosa brunch menu was a bit more varied, but then I'm a very picky eater!

I indicated we were celebrating our anniversary, but that wasn't acknowledged at all during the evening. We were seated towards the front door, not even in the back were it was more cozy for a romantic dinner. It was not busy, so a reservation was definitely not necessary. The baseball game was on at the bar and they spectators gave it more of a sports bar feel to the dinning area. We had one drink and dinner and went elsewhere for dessert. Overall experience was not what we expected, especially based on our prior experiences at this restaurant.

I had only previously had drinks. The cocktail list is amazing. I like to bring out of town friends. Even my more jaded, sophisticated friends are impressed. This time I decided to try brunch. I have read uneven things about the food so was never in a rush to try it but they really got it right. Everything was delicious and cooked beautifully and to temperature. Being Fathers Day I think they got bigger groups than usual and were very backed up. We waited almost an hour and a half for our food. I was expecting overcooked food sitting under heat lamps while the waitstaff scrambled to keep up. Not the case. Everything was great. I don't mind waiting if the food is worth it. Luckily the mimosas flowed and they made up for it with free dessert. I would go back and also can recommend!

Overall The Federal is good place to eat but I do not recommend the Brunch Chicken and Waffle. While the red velvet waffle was delicious, the chicken was both unseasoned and dry. The waitress was accommodating by switching the chicken for a crab cake. The crab cake was added as a charge, which was later removed after complaining. The Manager also removed $10 for the chicken issue.

The Service as okay, but I expected more from The Federal.

I have visited the Federal previously for dinner and cocktails and the service and food were excellent.
