The Farmhouse Bistro at People's Light Ratings and Reviews
We had a great dinner and exceptional service at the Farmhouse Bistro. We had the pre-theater three course menu. Food was outstanding. The pumpkin-asparagus-crab bisque was amazing. Beautiful, unique glassware is worth noting. Lighting was too bright and it would have been nice if they lit the fireplace. But other than that, it was a very nice experience before we went to see Lights Out.
Excellent options on the Prix Fixe menu. Quite good value for money. My soup WA cold, but when asked to have it heated, it was accomplished immediately with a smile and a clean bowl and spoon.
Only criticism is too.much food for meal. Left with two "doggie bags"
We always enjoy dining at the Farmhouse Bistro prior to seeing a show.
Our server was extremely helpful, conscientious, and polite. He even took us the back way to the theatre. The swordfish was cooked to perfection and my husband loved the lamb stew!
Our only complaint is the ambiance and acoustics in the lower level dining area. We miss eating upstairs where we felt like we were alone and on our own date instead of someone else's. We were able to hear the entire conversation of a women sitting behind us.
Had a lovely brunch with girlfriends. When we went we were the only ones in the place which had me worried but it was fine. Food was great. Gave only 4 stars because they had a quesadilla on the menu but no sour cream on the premises. I thought that was strange to have one without the other.
The pasta dish we both ordered was to have crab meat in it. Both came out with no crab. they did bring us both a side order of crab when we pointed this out.
The pesto on the pasta was somewhat bland and did not reflect what we both were expecting as far as taste.
The subscribers 10% discount was not available on the fixed price menu and the wait staff was not aware of this nor was it listed anywhere we could find on their website.
Overall, this was a very pricy meal for what we received.
This is a restaurant that belongs to a theater so we went just as the show started therefore it was only us. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us a tour and showed us the newly renovated wedding hall- very nice!! Sandwiches were good. Not a fan of the avocado "fries" but an interesting options. Will definitely return and see a show as well!
My dinner was pasta and crab in a pesto sauce. The pasta was drenched in the oily sauce which completely overwhelmed the crab and peas. The accompanying salad was included but chewy and not very tasty. My husband had swordfish and felt his food was okay but nothing special. The service was attentive and prompt and the small room was quiet. The powder room was unheated , had no hook for hanging a coat or purse, and the light switch was outside the room (which I did not notice until after I entered.) We were disappointed overall.
Appetizers were very good but entrees were very disappointing. Scallop entree was undercooked and braised short rib entrée meat was quite fatty and small. Root vegetables were over cooked and had too much spice. Service was good for a small restaurant. Would not dine there again, we thought it would be much better.
Food was creative and very good. Frank "the Tank" was outstanding - friendly, helpful, just the right amount of attention. Prices were reasonable, actually quite good considering the creativity and quality of the offering. All-in-all, a very enjoyable experience and we plan to be back.
The food was all well-prepared, but there were a few disappointments. We booked dinner before the Panto, a child-friendly show, and were told when we got there that the children's menu was not available. Asked clearly for dressing on the side and when it came on the salad, was told "it's only a little," which was not the case (had to send it back). When it came back it clearly was not put together as nicely. Brought my daughter milk with ice in it, which was odd and resulted in it tasting odd.
We attended the Thanksgiving Buffet which ran from 12 - 8:00 PM for at 6 :00 seating. All the meat dishes were dry, dry, dry. The turkey and the pork loin were so dry, even the gravy did not help. It did however help make the stuffing more palatable. We passed .on the trout, since the cream sauce was boiling in what was supposed to be a chafing tray. The rolls were not only cold, but hard as a rock. Perhaps an enterprising sever, could make holiday door knockers from they with a little decoration. The meal ended with a choice of four desserts that were 50/50 and the coffee was weak. To get to buffet, we had to walk down a set of stairs and through a room to the main dining room, balancing our plates on the way back. One of us was on portable oxygen and asked if we could be seated closer to the buffet and our server said no, that the main dining room was for larger parties. If we had not had to pay in advance, we would have left at that point or after sampling the food. Later in the evening, we even thought that the overcooked nature of the food was due to us choosing a later dinner. We quickly determined that it was not the later dining. If the service is to run from 12 - 8:00PM, a more professional restaurant would have taken the appropriate steps to ensure all diners a pleasant meal and experience. Based on the quality of the food and the callousness of the staff, we would not recommend any of our friends to eat there.
Loved the creative and tasteful food and good portion sizes from appetizer to dessert. Very convenient to pay in advance for the dinner and theater combo, receiving the tix upon arrival at the restaurant. Was disappointed that with a 3 course prix fixe menu there was no vegetarian/vegan entree or ability to sub an appetizer. In defense of the restaurant, the menu was available for review in advance. Great experience overall and plan to return.
