We frequent The Farmhouse Bistro. The food quality and service are consistently excellent.
Not good, disappointing , had to return wine, food wasn’t cooked completely
Very good dining option before attending the theater. Courteous service, good wine and food.
We frequent this restaurant. It is consistently excellent.
Good food, good ambiance, good service. My only complaint is that it's a tad pricey. The onion soup was a good value but the vegetarian chili was around $15, which I thought was high.
Way to expensive for the meal I received
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and eccellent service make The Farmhouse Bistro a treat. Although connected to People's Light theater, you don't have to attend the theater to enjoy an excellent meal here.
Meal was 3 course fro $40 - soup was great, entree's vegetables were unevenly cooked- carrots were raw while potatoes were soft- dessert was a mediocre lime cheesecake- overall, not a great value
Had an excellent experience. Even though we came in very late, the waiter and chef waited for us, made sure that we had a wonderful time and food.
No show so we were the only table. Great service and food and enjoyed our own private night. Thanks for staying open!
Dinner and the theater are always a great night out, and this was no exception. There were seven of us, and we ordered just about everything on the menu, from 40 garlic chicken, to salmon to short ribs and a burger, and there wasn't a crumb left. Everything was well priced, and the wine list paired well with the menu. I look forward to going back.
The Farmhouse is a convenient location for a meal before a play at People's Light & Theatre. It is on the same property and within walking distance of the Leonard Haas Stage. For a performance at the Steinbright Stage, you have to drive over.
We ate in a small dining room that seated about 18. There is a second dining room where a group was having dinner. I did not see how large the room was.
The hostess was very helpful. She asked if we already had our tickets for the performance of Lights Out: Nat "King" Cole. When we told her that we had vouchers, she proceeded to call the theater and arrange to get our tickets for us. She brought them over to our table. That was a very nice touch.
The person who seated us seemed very nervous and tentative. The table we picked was wobbly. Rather than offer to find a way to stabilize the table for us, she made a gesture as if she was hoping that nothing would fall off the table.
We had one server ask for our drinks, then someone else came to the table without any explanation. Apparently there had not been a handover of the table because the new server was not aware that we had already ordered something to drink. I asked her to get something to stabilize the table which she did readily and quickly. This suggested to me that they are aware of the state of the tables. The person who sat us down should have checked on the table before she left if they know they have wobbly tables.
The food was the best part of the evening. We opted for the Prix Fixe Menu from which we had Pumpkin Asparagus Crab Bisque and Caesar Salad as the appetizers, followed by Forty Garlic Chicken and Horseradish Encrusted Salmon. For dessert, we had
Copa Marscarpone and Lemon Sorbet Ripieno. Everything was delicious. We truly enjoyed the meal.
Worst Thanksgiving dinner ever. Horrible buffet with almost no food. Server cleared away our place settings and glasses of wine when we went up for seconds. Never will I go back there!
We went to their Thanksgiving buffet. It took a long time for the wine to come and the waiter rarely came by to fill the glasses. Also, the plates were not cleared between courses. It was not very busy when we arrived. When we went to the buffet, the stuffing was about empty so was a bit cold. I went back for seconds and it was much better. The turkey was good but the sides were average. The pumpkin cheese cake was good but they had run out of both the pecan and sweet potatoe pie. They also automatically added 18% gratuity which seems high for someone to deliver a glass of wine and fill water twice.
We were there For their Thanksgiving meal, and the food was excellent! The turkey was juicy, the ham was succulent. The sweet potatoes has just the right amount of toasted marshmallow.
Our server, though, he was terrible. He came to our table 10 minutes after we sat down to take our drink order, and they didn't come until after we got back with our food.
We ran out of drinks, and we didn't see him for 10 minutes, and the only reason we saw him was that the best table over was getting their check. I asked him for more drinks, and guess what... He didn't show up again for 15 minutes! When he came again, I had to ask once more for drinks. When I went to the buffet, again, I actually talked to the person in charge of the buffet display. He said he'd talk to the head server.
The only time he ended up being quick was when he dropped off the check, and then left for 30 seconds and came right back to see if it was ready. I was really tempted to talk to a manager right then and there. It was Thanksgiving, so I paid the check, with the automatic gratuity, but you can be sure I didn't leave any more than that. If it wasn't a holiday, you can be sure I would've argued the automatic gratuity.
Had a problem with gratuity being included with bill. Know this is done with large groups but we were only two and no notice that this was done. At same time on menu it said that gratuity was included in price. Note "price", not "bill" or "check". Confusing wording and poorly handled.
The restaurant is great for atmosphere. Even better if paired with a play. That can't be beat. Service is normally pretty good, it was a bit under the norm for Thanksgiving, but still ok.
Great Thanksgiving Day buffet!
We went to the Farm House Bistro for Thankgiving. We sat in a cozy room with a wood burning fireplace. The food was marvelous! No stove top stuffing. Gourmet Buffet! I went back twice. And I never do that! Service was attentive. Will return!
We had a great dinner and exceptional service at the Farmhouse Bistro. We had the pre-theater three course menu. Food was outstanding. The pumpkin-asparagus-crab bisque was amazing. Beautiful, unique glassware is worth noting. Lighting was too bright and it would have been nice if they lit the fireplace. But other than that, it was a very nice experience before we went to see Lights Out.
We frequent The Farmhouse Bistro. It is always excellent. We've been there for holiday meals, dinner and lunch. There has never been anything to complain about.
Disappointing food with okay service. Shrimp and crab cocktail was mediocre, steak over cooked, spinach with too much oil....
Excellent options on the Prix Fixe menu. Quite good value for money. My soup WA cold, but when asked to have it heated, it was accomplished immediately with a smile and a clean bowl and spoon.
Only criticism is too.much food for meal. Left with two "doggie bags"
We always enjoy dining at the Farmhouse Bistro prior to seeing a show.
Our server was extremely helpful, conscientious, and polite. He even took us the back way to the theatre. The swordfish was cooked to perfection and my husband loved the lamb stew!
Our only complaint is the ambiance and acoustics in the lower level dining area. We miss eating upstairs where we felt like we were alone and on our own date instead of someone else's. We were able to hear the entire conversation of a women sitting behind us.
Waiter did a great job serving our every need.. place was casual and quiet in a private sort of room .. only wish they had draft beer.. would have made it better for me ..?nice and convient to theatre show
A wonderful spot whether you're attending a theater production at People's Light or not. A special venue to share with family or friends.
very convenient to theater. Food is good, but not great. country pate was flavorless and bread was stale. scallops and burger were very good. Service is friendly.
Had a lovely brunch with girlfriends. When we went we were the only ones in the place which had me worried but it was fine. Food was great. Gave only 4 stars because they had a quesadilla on the menu but no sour cream on the premises. I thought that was strange to have one without the other.
It was our servers first day but she made up for her lack of knowledge with great charm and spunk. My friend and I had a great time!
The pasta dish we both ordered was to have crab meat in it. Both came out with no crab. they did bring us both a side order of crab when we pointed this out.
The pesto on the pasta was somewhat bland and did not reflect what we both were expecting as far as taste.
The subscribers 10% discount was not available on the fixed price menu and the wait staff was not aware of this nor was it listed anywhere we could find on their website.
Overall, this was a very pricy meal for what we received.
Nice brunch, service was a little wonky.
Mother's Day Brunch - mixed bag, food looked great, but hot food was not hot, and
cold soup was meh. For the money expected more. Servers did not replace used silverware, no place to put sugar wrappers, toothpicks, etc.
Farmhouse Bistro is consistently excellent for food and quality of service. We visit here often and have never been disappointed. We've been here for everyday dining and holiday dinners.
This is a restaurant that belongs to a theater so we went just as the show started therefore it was only us. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us a tour and showed us the newly renovated wedding hall- very nice!! Sandwiches were good. Not a fan of the avocado "fries" but an interesting options. Will definitely return and see a show as well!
Excellent food in a very nice setting. Octopus was tender and great flavor , very nice salad and the chicken liver pate was house made and as good as I have ever had.
My dinner was pasta and crab in a pesto sauce. The pasta was drenched in the oily sauce which completely overwhelmed the crab and peas. The accompanying salad was included but chewy and not very tasty. My husband had swordfish and felt his food was okay but nothing special. The service was attentive and prompt and the small room was quiet. The powder room was unheated , had no hook for hanging a coat or purse, and the light switch was outside the room (which I did not notice until after I entered.) We were disappointed overall.
Our waiter Frank was very attentive and helpful. The facility has a really nice farmhouse feel to it, but modern. The brunch menu was well-appointed and tasty. Overall, a very positive experience!
Good atmosphere, the service was excellent and so was the food; appetizers and entrees. The only thing I would improve is the wine list, which is somewhat limited.
Great atmosphere, very good service, good food. Perfect for eating before the show at Peoples Light.
You should replace the dessert option with a drink instead. We would rather have a drink included.
