Nice bistro with great ambiance for brunch or dinner before a show. You save money on the show when you add the meal/show combo. A lot of food for the price.

A convenient restaurant when attending a People's Light performance. Food quality and presentation is very good, but preparation could be better, e.g. wonderful swordfish steak but cooked very dry. Farmhouse ambience and service staff quite attentive and pleasant.

We frequently eat here before the theater. The food is not fancy, but is fresh and well prepared and presented. I love the peaceful atmosphere after a busy day.

I had crab soup, which was very good; and the veal, which was just okay. My wife had the filet mignon, which was just okay. We both had rice and broccoli, which were both just okay - both had the same quality that we would have achieved at home. We weren’t impressed.

This outing was part of a dinner theater experience at People’s Light. It was delightfully relaxing to enjoy a quiet dinner at this restaurant which is right next door to the theater. The fixed price menu offered plenty of tempting options. We all selected seafood dishes, which tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. All of our food items were fresh and well prepared. Service was pleasant and friendly. We finished up in ample time to stroll across to the theater.

Brunch was yummy and our server was very courteous and attentive. A little pricey but you get a lot of options in the buffet. So you can get your money’s worth if your stomach allows it! Definitely worth pairing a meal and a show. It was a great experience!

I had the shrimp scampi. The shrimp was chewy and not fresh. Way too much pasta, and also overcooked. My friend had the veal, which was a bit chewy and her vegetables were overcooked and soggy. Our salads were good.

The whole experience was lovely. The food was delicious. The dining room can be a little loud but it did not prevent comfortable conversation. We did the fixed price dinner which had generous portions. We took our dessert home.

The food is mediocre and the service is lacking. I ordered coffee after our meal. It was tepid. When I informed the server he reheated it in the microwave rather than brewing a fresh pot.

Excellent service and delightful meal prior to outstanding performance in the theater. At $40 pre fixed dinner is a great option with several wonderful appetizers and entrees to choose from. My filet was perfectly cooked with a generous helping of seasoned rice and hearty vegetables. It was a fine meal even without the added bonus of the theater!

It was a warm and pleasant evening, and we wanted to find a place with an outdoor fire. We read online this restaurant had such a feature, so we made a reservation and drove nearly an hour to check out and experience The Farmhouse Bistro. When we arrived, we quickly learned in fact there was no outdoor fire (maybe only for events/weddings?), but we decided to keep our reservation and stay for dinner. The lightning was a bit bright, but the dining area had a slight charm of an old farmhouse. Only a set Valentines menu was offered. At this point we wish we would have respectfully declined and left. However, the service was nice and the place was next to empty (there was one other two top, which was finishing dinner in the adjacent dining room). We felt bad leaving and decided to be adventurous and stay, though we were starting to have serious doubts.

The first course arrived with was described as mushroom risotto. I would say it was more of a mushroom rice pilaf, but it tasted fine and we were hungry. The main course was dreadful. We ordered one prime rib and one filet. The prime rib was ordered medium rare to medium, but came out well done. It really seemed as if this meat had been cooking for awhile, and I mean a long while in not the good way. The filet was barely edible due to the very unpalatable accompanying sauce. We tried scraping the sauce off the filet and put butter on both cuts of meat in an attempt to save the dried out leather. We wrestled with our main courses for awhile before giving up and bracing ourselves for dessert. I am typically of the mindset that chocolate is always good and when made into a mousse, it can never be wrong. This raspberry chocolate mousse however was completely inedible. We both took a single bite and called it quits. The meal came with a “toast” of a very sugary, unpleasant, inexpensive sparkling wine that neither of us could stomach.

At $55 per person, plus drinks, and tip, this was an expensive and disappointing lesson.

A partial recommendation -- for convenience when going to a People's Light performance, The Farmhouse is great. As a destination place if not going to the theater ... so-so. Food is okay ... not imaginative (seasonings range from salt to pepper -- other herbs and spices don't stand out, though mentioned in descriptions; sauces and soups butter-rich, overwhelmingly so). The charming, warm old-building ambiance -- small rooms, wood floors, fireplace (in at least one of the rooms), interesting glassware, etc. -- can be destroyed by the loud noise levels when most tables are full.

Intimate dining room with wood burning fireplace, but lighting and general ambiance is stark, I almost felt like I dining in a hall way. Our server was super sweet but needs more training. The appetizers were awful. Brussel sprouts were mushy and luke warm, my guess is they were the frozen variety, dumped out of a bag into a pot of boiling water. Topped with balsamic and what appeared to be Kraft parmesan cheese from the green container. The spinach salad was doused with warm bottled italian dressing, to which bacon was added. The "starch" of the day was the star of the show--something between scallaped and mashed potatoes. Don't know what they were but they were good. The green beans were perfected cooked. Chicken marsala was so-so, scallops were tough. Dessert (cheesecake and flourless choc torte) were wonderful. We weren't attending the show but felt rushed out with the theater crowd. Sorry to say, very disappointing overall.

Dinner was excellent with one notable exception. The coffee tasted like it had been around since last week. It was sludgy and tasted burnt. My dinner partner had a cup before dinner and mentioned it to the waiter. We both had coffee after dinner and it continued to be undrinkable. Unforgivable sin in dining.

Could not access the restaurant! We made a reservation for 8pm. Went to the restaurant which had a sign on the door to ring the bell and someone would open the door. No one came and the restaurant appeared to be empty and locked up. I expect that most people eat there before attending the theater at People's Light. But we stopped at the theater and the 2 people there had no idea how to help us. Very disappointing.

Had a delicious dinner here before attending the People's Light and Theatre Co. We ordered off of the fixed price menu with it's many excellent choices. The house salad was outstanding with its apple cider vinaigrette dressing, cranberries, goat cheese and spiced pecans over mixed greens. The fillet mignon was done perfectly, although the sauce over it gave it an odd flavor. Perhaps the steak itself should be seasoned differently. The sides were also very nice and the pecan pie ala mode was delicious. All in all, we truly enjoyed our, first ever, dinner there.

We go to the Bistro frequently and food and service are often uneven. We usually go on a Thursday evening prior to the performance. On this occasion, we had dinner on Saturday evening. The meal and service were exceptional! I had a delicious and tender filet mignon and my dining partner had penne with fresh vegetables. Excellent value for three courses with non-alcoholic beverages. $40 per person.

First time and will not go back. There was only two tables for a la carte brunch and service was chaotic. Being that it is a banquet facility, the restaurant should not open if the event is overwhelming for the staff. Food was just ok, nothing memorable. Service was choppy and inattentive. Definitely overwhelmed! Very dissapointing as the place is beautiful. A real shame.

We had tickets for a show at The Peoples Light Theatre. Two of us were coming from NJ and ended up running late. The server Steven could not have been more accommodating. He paced the meal so we weren't rushed and were permitted to take our desserts into the theatre to avoid missing one second of the show. Our server Steven, the prefix-menu option, food and drinks were excellent! We will return...Thank you all!

We usually have a good experience at the Farmhouse Bistro. And the food was really good. But the service was very poor. We were there for a play, and we did not get our entree until almost 20 min before curtain time, and we had to ask for it twice. And we were overcharged for a salad, and the waiter did not offer any apology but rather was rude. But this was very out of character with our previous experiences at Farmhouse.

Chairs are very uncomfortable.
Lid of the sugar container was dirty. I wiped it with a hand wipe I had in my purse. I wonder if servers are reminded to clean the containers when they refill them?

We were there before a show at People's Light. Service was well-timed and friendly. The food came out hot and was plated nicely. The meal was well priced and delicious. We had 6:15 dinner reservations. The play started at 8:00 p.m. and we had plenty of time to walk over to the theater and be seated without being rushed. Will definitely go again!
