Service was outstanding, we arrived early & were able to be seated. Food was spot on, sides with our entrees were a bit small but as long as you order appetizers & desserts it was honestly ok. Only drawback was the table we sat I was facing a mostly blank white wall and was not able to enjoy or see the rest of the room. Not sure if they couldn't turn the two tops so both guests could enjoy the ambiance. It is beautiful, I actually rode horses at Normandy growing up, so it was fantastic to see how much they tried to keep the authenticity & farm feel.
Dined here twice for dinner over a two day period and wasn't impressed...
First night I ordered the "crispy skin chicken". While flavorful, the crispy skin was anything but. Instead it's texture was more inline with "lightly grilled after sous vide." Additionally, the accompanying side was comically disproportionate. This fish failed to live up to the description, especially for the premium price it was commandingly in the menu. Flavorful yes, but worth it - absolutely not.
I observed other dinners with similar reactions to their main menu orders as well.
The second night I ordered the Lancaster chicken sandwich. This was quite good actually. However this is off the bar menu.
A fellow dinner ordered the 14oz bone-in strip steak. What came out was far from impressive. While I understand that each chef will cook in their own manner, a $35 strip steak gives the impression of a will chared / crispy exterior cooked at high heat to deliver maximum surface carmelization and flavor - just like at any respectable Steak House.
What was delivered though was something that lacked the carmelization, and was a it gray color with a few sear marks and a flavor that feel flat. For the price, it was appalling.
The bar was respectfully stocked with a few craft beers, liquors, and wine. However, the mixers and drink appropriate garnishment and ingredients was lackluster at best for a venue that tries to appeal to an upper class clientele.
I will say that the value of the drinks was appropriate though - just set your expectation accordingly.
In summary, if you are staying at the lovely attached hotel, check out the bar menu and sandwiches + the decent value drinks. However, about the main menu until the kinks are worked out...
Had an enjoyable lunch. Service and food was wonderful.
We selected Farmer's Daughter for Valentine's Day and were not disappinted. The food and service were top shelf. If you enjoy a good steak, try the tomahawk ribeye. Great quality and prefectly prepared; worth every penny. The roasted tomato flatbread and beet salad were also outstanding. They get an A+ from me.
First time there and will definitely go back. Lovely and a good menu. Everyone really enjoyed their food and service was great.
Tried the new menu for our Valentine's date, a day early. Dining room was half full, so romantically quiet. The Ossa Bucco on squash/sauerkraut was delicious, and the carmelized collard greens were amazingly great. My husband loved his filet mignon. Joe's service was perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.
Good unique food, great service, The place was not crowded but there were kids present which made it a bit louder, also someone was coughing pretty loud. Nice experience overall!
So good as usual 😊 food, service, and everything was so good!
It began with bad oysters-old, squishy and foul tasting. Ruined the entire experience, had to settle for more mundane fare. Very very fatty prime rib, soggy fish with bland stuffing, plain peeled shrimp with no flavor, chicken parmagiana-didnt seem right. Undercooked waffles, excess of mini desserts.
I have been to this restaurant 2x before in the summer when the food was freshly prepared and quite good.
This was a big disappointment and waste of money and an embarrassment to me with my guest. You owe me $100. in restaurant voucher if we are to visit you once more.
The food here was absolutely the best I've ever had! We had a cheese board, goat cheese cigars, filet mignon (for me) and aged Tbone (for him) and the salted carmel molten lava cake. Everything tasted so awesome that I'm already trying to figure out when we can go back! Our waitress (Lauren) was very friendly and answered our many questions about the new menu(they change the menu as needed since they use local farmers). The price you pay is worth the mouth-watering food that you will experience. Put this on your list of places to eat SOON! (Reservations suggested)
Always enjoy lunch at Farmers Daughter. Waiter was awesome .
Great to get together with a group of friend we had a great time service excellent food fantastic we had a ball. Staff very friendly you do not want for anything with this great brunch and friendly staff , great for all occasions. Highly recommend.
Great food and service.
A gem in the burbs... enjoy a nice dinner and save room for dessert!
While Normandy Farms is a large hotel/conference center we found the restaurant to be better than what you normally find in a hotel.
The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the service is professional and gracious and the menu is well designed. When we walked in the aromas of the braised short ribs wafted the air. The entree selections were very appealing but we opted for small plates and the selections of sharing boards, appetizers and salads were innovative, big on flavors and beautifully presented.
We had heard that the desserts were something special and boy were they right - wow! beautiful, one of a kind pieces of art that were so flavorful and unique. We ordered one each and offered everyone a bite but after we passed once we agreed we had to pass around until they were all gone! When we tried to pick a "winner" it clearly was a draw. We'll go back even if it was a bit of a drive for us and would reco that you check them out. if you do, be sure to save room for dessert!!
This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant. The 1st time was with 3 other female friends, the 2nd visit was 2 couples. Both scenarios worked well.
The wait staff, the ambiance and the food were phenomenal! The menu has interesting and unusual offerings.
Can't wait to return!
The main dining room is very noisy, and the menu tries too hard to be different, making it difficult to find a straightforward main course. The three-glass wine flights are a nice offering.
When we arrived it was not that crowded but the server just seemed uninterested. The food took forever to come, and follow up visits, getting the check etc seemed to take a while. The food itself was very good. 20% tip was automatically added for 6 people, and the server did let us know
Outstanding food. Great service. Accommodated our being late for our reservations. BUT, microscopic portions. While we certainly don't expect to go to a gourmet restaurant and get a mound of food, when you pay $33 for a crab cake "entree" and 2 silver dollar size morsels show up, it is quite a letdown. Don't come hungry. Another alternative would be to schedule a second dinner after if you have any change left in your pockets.
We came to celebrate a special occasion— the dinner and appetizers were delicious; but the service was slow.....and servers not attentive. So much so that we asked for dessert “to go”. We ate dessert as soon as we got home but desserts were hardly edible— bread pudding was dry and tasteless and chocolate cake was a strange texture. It was a chilly night but since the restaurant in IN the hotel, i expected it to be cozy. I was cold the whole evening. I had high expectations and was a bit disappointed . Our meals - beef tenderloin and dry aged steak were very good!
As usual, The Farmer's Daughter did not disappoint. There is now cheesecake as a desert option and both pancakes and waffles. The only minor suggestion is to have Swiss as a cheese option at the omelet station.
Went here with my wife for a quiet dinner to be able to talk and catch up. It was a perfect setting for that.
Good food and price.
Fabulous. Great food. Great ambience. Great Bluebell escape
We took another couple, it was their first time. They loved it. Food was very good, service was excellent. Not rushed, we enjoyed ourselves immensely.
We wanted to go to Normandy Farms for my mother’s 97th birthday. It was a wonderful experience for all. The food, service and atmosphere was a great, especially our hostess who was thrilled to meet my mom and made her feel very special.
It never occurred to me to
Our first time there. Special occasion as our best friends were visiting from Portugal. Excellent brunch items; great variety to choose from. Service was friendly and accommodating. Very nice place/ambience. Will be back often.
Place was really busy but service was good . They have made some changes to menu and now a little eclectic ( trying to smart things with different ingredients ) . Harder now just to get simple dish made well !
Our service was slow. Food was good. Loved the bar.
Very nice place, nice atmosphere, great service. We thought the food was just ok. Duck rolls were greasy and not very flavorful. Ahi tuna was simple but good. NY strip and filet were both good, but my wife and I didn't eat the sides. Both came with potatoes with some type of spice, maybe nutmeg, that just didn't do it for us. Maybe just a personal preference. The bread pudding dessert wasn't bad. Not a bad meal, but for about $200 I would probably go somewhere else.
