Very good. Pricy for the amount of food that you get though. Would give it a 8 out of 10.
1at time visit. The setting, atmoshphere, food quality and service were worth the money. Would definitely recommend and hope to go again sometime.
As fine of a dining experience as one would receive virtually anywhere. My guests from Texas, Montana, California, and New York, who regularly travel throughout the country and the world, gushed with positive comments.
Amazing food and the subtleties are all there...a pianist playing, adequate time between courses, attentive service with a smile with the server actually making time to speak to you about your day/evening and what brings you there (and this is with every server as you can randomly over hear a few comments from other servers at other tables). Management and hosts are very friendly and full of smiles upon entry and exiting. Not in my budget to eat here often (2 ppl, bottle of wine and full dinner will run you $130-$175 with tip) but I enjoy the special occasions when I do!
everything first class. we enjoyed it immensely.
The place is amazing. We got to explore the Inn a bit & enjoy the bar.
The service was wonderful, very attentive & accommodating.
The food was delicious. Portions were very nice. Sides as good as the entree.
I’ve been to athe English Inn plenty of times and the thing I notice each and every time is that I felt welcomed and appreciated. I recently took my 12 year old daughter to dinner before our annual daddy daughter dance and I feel that the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and we enjoyed our wonderful dinner. We both had the prime rib and it was tender, juicy and well seasoned. I’ve had prime rib at many different restaurants but this was the best for me. Thank You English Inn for making our night special.
We went here to celebrate my wife's dissertation defense and were not disappointed. The service was excellent as was the food. I had the beef tips and lobster and my wife had the prime rib. Everything was cooked to perfection.
The ambience and the service were good. The food was ok but would have been better had it arrived hot rather than lukewarm.
From the waitstaff to the outstanding food. Everything was perfect. A great night out
One of our favorite places to eat especially on our anniversary which is Valentine’s Day.
As usual, the service was excellent, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was sublime.
As always, The English Inn continues to amaze! The staff is top notch, as is the cuisine. We always leave with a smile on our faces, and are so thankful to have this treasure so close to home.
We love the atmosphere. And the staff was also very awesome. The food was very excellent and I would definitely recommend this to friends that I know. This was our first time there and I look forward to coming back
We love the English Inn. And, when we bring the family - which was the occasion - they are gracious and patient. (three grandchildren under 5) The Beef Wellington was fantastic. The Prime Rib was superb. The Lobster and Steak tips was quite good. The filet was cut it with a fork tender and delicious. Not quite what was expected but very good. The stuffed chicken breast was great. The deserts, salads and soups fantastic. The Boge wine was sumptuous.
Food ambience and service is great. Noisy young children at a table nearby. Definitely will return and would highly recommend. Summer time is much more enjoyable to have drinks on outside patios
The room was amazing! I slept as well as would have in my own bed. Everything was clean. The entire staff was phenomenal, and the food was 5 stars! We will be back!
This place was absolutely amazing. This was our first time there for a romantic dinner & I would do it all over again the next day. Only disappointment is that they are not a dog friendly facility for spending the night there.
Everything was as expected. The dining room is beautiful...service is friendly & efficient...
We enjoyed it all.
Perfect location for date night , birthday or anniversary. Beef Wellington was delicious.
This was my first time at The English Inn, and I am happy to say I was blown away. We celebrated my father's birthday. Every aspect of the evening was fantastic! Can't wait for my Anniversary, planning on staying the night.
Enjoyed our visit to The English Inn. Will plan to return with friends soon !! Saw your Inn on UTR (Under the radar).
AAA Service best food and service anywhere top of the line . From start to finish of the dinner .
The menu was varied but not overwhelming. The house salad was delicate and the dressing had just enough sweetness. My date had the walleye with lobster and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had beef tips with lobster claw meat and it was ok. The server suggested the beef tips so I was a little disappointed as the flavor was fairly simple, I was hoping for a little bit more complexity than the brown sauce brought. The desserts were good but not especially memorable. The entire wait staff was very attentive and extremely polite. The dining room was very impressive. The web site suggested business casual so we knew we would be over dressed in a suit and cocktail dress but we were disappointed to be sharing the dining room with a guest wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. We will go back, but not any time soon.
The wait staff was outstanding. There was a wide selection of entrees on the menu.
I’ve been here on several occasions and always had a delicious meal. It is wonderful place to bring friends and family.
This was our second time there and it was even better than the first. We were able to sit in the main dining room this time. It is a warm, inviting room with a beautiful view of the river. There was also a piano player which rounded out the experience. We had the filet which was mouth-watering good. It was tender and cooked to perfection. We will go back many times.
Prices keep going up but food, ambiance and service were excellent
Absolutely fantastic experience all the way around -- great service, exceptional meals, romantic ambiance. Exactly what my partner and I were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful setting with delectable food and warm and friendly service. We love every dining experience at our charming English Inn! ❤️
AAA Servive and food top of the line over all everything there
We love the English Inn! It has fantastic ambience and always a seasonal menu. Service is excellent from beginning to end. Could not recommend more.
Never been disappointed... always worth the trip from GR!!!
Great ambiance and service. Good and wine selection was outstanding.
We always consider the English Inn for special dates and days. We both thought my parents would enjoy the food and ambiance and they were not disappointed. The food was wonderful. The service was wonderful and the Inn was beautifully ready for Christmas. We couldn't see the rooms as they were all rented but we peaked out the windows to see the grounds. We'll be back when it's warmer to walk the grounds and check out the plantings. It was a special time and the English Inn made it more special. Thank you!
This is usually a yearly tradition. I made the reservation for at 6:30pm. We were not sat until about 7:00pm which is no big deal. Once sat the waitress came over to take drink orders. It took almost 10minutes for her to come back with our drinks and take our appetizer order. While waiting for our appetizers we drank and chatted freely. About 30 minutes later we got our appetizers served by someone else. It then took more time for our waitress to come check on us and take our meal order. We ordered and waited for our food. We were never offered rolls and butter at anytime during our meal (as we have always received in years prior). Meals were then served again by another person who finally offered drink refills to the table. I believe our waitress checked on us once during our meal. It was getting close to empty by the time we were done eating and chatting. The waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert to whick I replied yes. She then returned to the table with the check and told us to have a good night. I took that as a polite way of saying that we are closing and it’s time to leave. Usually we have a great time with great service, but I can not say the same this time. Everything was great besides the service (and not getting dessert). I guess my recommendation would be to get an earlier reservation as they like to stay after closing. We will go there again at an earlier time and be sure to ask not to get that waitress again.
We were disappointed with our Thanksgiving dinner. The wait staff were not very attentive, likely because there were not enough of them. The traditional turkey dinner was ok, definitely not typical of finer English Inn food. The turkey was not fresh carved. It was some sort of turkey roast cut up into thick chunks. Served room temperature, sadly too. We will continue to dine there, just not for a traditional Thanksgiving meal anymore.
Excellent food and great service with wonderful ambiance.
Everything was great. We were sat near the door and it was a bit chilly, turn up the heat on a cold night or maybe a nice fire. I would order the truffle salt on the side for my filet. A little too salty and not much truffle flavor. The steak and the sauce were very good as was the Walleye, my partner had.
Fabulous place! Excellent food and service. We were very satisfied with our meal and the overall experience.
