Wonderful service, superb Manhattan, amazing filet!
Troy was amazing and took us on a tour of the hotel. Drinks were great and lots of great food options.
Great food and great atmosphere. It was our first visit and we were greeted by a high class environment with casual, freindly service that made us feel very comfortable.
The food was fantastic.
Dinner was close to perfect. Food was excellent, though I would have liked something a little more substantial with the pan-seared scallops. Had I not had a salad, I would have left still hungry. Desserts were delicious. Coffee was not good at all. It was made right at the table, which is nice, but I think the server used too much water. My first cocktail was outstanding, but the second was missing the sour mix and not good at all. The server did take it back and made it right. I will definitely return.
We enjoyed a wonderful buffet on Mother’s Day.
The presentation was beautiful. The food was delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. We will go again and will highly recommend this restaurant.
Mother's Day Dinner on Saturday eve. Food was excellent -- pork chop wonderful, scallops great. Server was knowledgeable, entertaining, very polite. Offered to take photos. Noise level moderate only because a larger crowd for Mother's Day eve. After dinner, the Bar / Lounge is excellent with lively atmosphere, great drinks, piano music. General Manager, Troy, insures that dining experience is superb.
The history and tradition of the English Grill is as advertised. Ask for George. He is a great server and gentleman!
We were traveling to Louisville so we waited to celebrate our anniversary at The English Grill. It did not disappoint. The service was outstanding and the food was fantastic. Thanks for a lovely evening. Worth the wait.
We have lived in Kentuckiana for 16 years and have always wanted to try a Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel. It was everything we hoped it would be! Food was great. Service was fantastic! Ambience was quiet and relaxing. Live piano player in the background also helped. We will have to make another visit
Amazing dining experience beginning with the amuse bouch and ending with the flaming melting chocolate dessert. The iconic hot brown did not disappoint. The service and ambiance completed an overall fantastic impression of this wonderful, unpretentious but elegant restaurant.
It was a wonderful meal. The was excellent and George our server and his assistant did a great job!!! We will return to the English Grill soon.
We had no trouble getting a reservation for two on a Friday evening a week before the Derby. The ambience is fantastic, looking just like an English Grill from the last century. Our server Kelly was appropriately attentive as well as providing tips about what to see in the city. My wife and I shared the Caesar Salad that was prepared table-side, which was quite enjoyable. I had the prime rib which was tasty but just OK. Overall it was a great experience and met our expectations.
The English Grill has returned to the excellence of its past. Beautiful room, of course, and the menu and food quality are top-notch. Service was excellent- professional yet friendly. I had not been there in several years but will now add it back into our fine dining rotation. Very pleasant experience.
Excellent, Just let them know if you need to be finished within 2 hours.
Undoubtly the best dining experience ever. The food and service was excellent.
Wonderful meal and atmosphere. The original Hot Brown is the best!
Me and my Empress had a really great dinner for her Earth day and we really enjoyed ourselves the food was amazing.
BRINGS BACK THE BEST OF LOUISVILLE'S BEST AND MOST ROMANTIC DINING SCENE. OUTSTANDING CUISINE, WORLD CLASS SERVICE, AND ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DINING ROOMS IN THE REGION. GREAT HISTORIC HOTEL. EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL STAFF FROM THE WATER SERVER TO THE GENERAL MANAGER.
The atmosphere was a delight, as was the service and food. I couldn't have been more pleased and we used a coupon without any problem.
Staff professional and accommodating
Salmon and Delmonico Steak delicious
Chocolate chip and walnut pie outstanding
Lovely room and exceptional service. We are traveling and this was the best meal 7 days into our journey.
Food was delicious, but the service was awful. We had friends in from Florida who had always heard about the English Grill at the Brown and wanted to try it. Very disappointing. We specified beforehand when making the reservation that we were going to the ballet. They recommended reservations at 5:45 for the ballet at 8 pm. We were even early for our reservation. Our waitress seemed preoccupied with the table next to us , therefore in my opinion ignoring us. We had to ask for a wine list, bread, she got the lady's drink order wrong, but basically blamed our guest for ordering it wrong.I had a staple stuck to my lemon in my drink. They did take that off the bill. We asked to place our order but she said she had to get the other tables drinks. A couple other times she would tell us to wait two minutes, three minutes, while she did other things. Believe me, we were not impatient, just concerned we wouldn't make it to the ballet. She didn't even offer us dessert menus or coffee. By then there wasn't time anyway. We had been there over two hours. She left the bill without askng how to divide it, which meant she added it all together. When the men asked her to divide it, she answered by saying she didn't know who went with who. She didn't bother to ask early on. The overall experience there was very disappointing. We had intended to have a leisurely dinner, drinks, dessert before the ballet, but it was anything but, sorry to say. The English Grill is very gorgeous, and the food was delicious, but the waitress ruined it for us. We dine in fine restaurants frequently, and I usually don't comment on an occasional unfortunate meal, but I really feel like the English Grill should know this happened.
The food and service was excellent.
Loved the atmosphere, hot brown, and service. This is by far the best and only place to have the best hot brown in town!
We had a relaxing dinner with delicious food. Service was top notch. Definitely recommend!
The maitre d' was fantastic. Very helpful and made us very welcome while we waited for our table. He was very concerned that we had a good time. Waitress was helpful, cordial and was a pleasure to deal with. Buffet was excellent and the plated main course was very very good. So much much better than that hotel up the street.
it was a great experience. the food was beyond expectation and the wait staff was attentive.
We stayed at this hotel and went to a show at the nearby Palace Theatre as part of a birthday celebration. We ate dinner at the English Grill and it was WONDERFUL! I had the Hot Brown and it was delicious. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic place to dine and socialize. Food selection is exceptional. Jameson and his team are extremely attentive with the right subtlety for intimate dining
Excellent. Our experience was fun, elegant, and comfortable. The staff was kind and attentive. No where else I would of rather spent the evening with my family while I visited from out of town.
Anniversary dinner. Romantic and memorable.
A no rush evening with good food in a nice setting. Great service. An upscale meal at upscale prices.
Loved the food we had the Hot Browns very, very good although I didn't taste or see any bacon?
The current sorbet was excellent. Everyone should try it.
It's worth it to go once. For the price, there are many other better deals in town.
Go here for The Hot Brown. The food and service were amazing but I feel that you're paying for the atmosphere and history here.
My husband and I had an amazing evening at The English Grill in The Brown Hotel. It's been awarded the AAA Four Diamond on multiple occasions, and its definitely understandable why. The food and service were impeccable, and it was easily the best fine dining experience I've ever had.
My new favorite restaurant. Fabulous. The food was amazing. And the atmosphere set you back in time. Beautiful decor. The staff was so kind and on the spot.
