Wonderful experience! Everything was perfect!
With covid going on, my wife and I wanted to get out and feel "normal" and decided the English Grill was the place. The manager (Troy R) and his staff did an outstanding job taking us back to a time before covid. Although the menu was limited, the choices were excellent and the food equally great. The service was equally impeccable, as was the atmosphere. Thank you Troy for another excellent evening and helping us forget for a brief period of time.

After a long wait, we were finally able to dine again at our favorite place in Louisville. This English grill was actually temporarily closed, but J Graham's Café is going strong. The Filet Mignon was perfection.
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Louisville. Not trying too hard - just is. The food is exceptional. Thought given to every dish flavor-wise. Love it! Staff is fantastic.
This could not have been a better Birthday Dinner for my husband (& I and our guest). The food was terrific. Rob our waiter was a docent of sorts on the history of The Brown Hotel as well as an excellent server. The flaming desert they brought my husband was over-the-top. The bill for the 3 of us was quite reasonable and a great value for what we got.

The best Restaurant in Louisville! Ambiance and service is a cut above the rest. The Hot Brown (creates here) was Spectacular and even my Vanilla ice cream came with a generous serving of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. A delightful meal.
Our dinner was wonderful. Ken was a very knowledgeable waiter and quite helpful. Our dinner was exceptional, starting with the amuse-bouche and continuing with the arancini, all the way through to the dessert. The duck and salmon were both cooked perfectly. It was a wonderful evening.
Rob, Harold and Yasser were all fantastic! Knew when to engage and when not to. Just a fabulous experience for our 50th Anniversary.
The Brown Hotel and English Grille was beautiful. It was like stepping back in time. The services were top notch and the food was delicious!
Service initially was poor as our table had no coverage until the maitre'd took charge and took our drink orders. Things improved after: caesar salad was outstanding, duck very good, and hot brown was outstanding as expected.
I took a group of ten to the English Grill for dinner. We had a Great experience. I would highly recommend their venue for your next special evening.
Very uneventful experience. Our waiter barely talked to us and I had to prompt him to take additional drink orders. The food was good but the experience was a bit depressing. It seems like they could put some renewed energy into making this landmark more appealing.
My reservation specifically stated we should not be seated by the kitchen. Yet when we got there that was exactly where we were seated. Fortunately this did not detract much from our otherwise wonderful experience.
We went there for Valentine’s Day. We were told beforehand that it was a pre-fixed menu. The lobster bisque was lobster flavored water with no lobster actually in it. The salad was pretty good. The entree was the best part, steak cooked perfectly and everything flavored well. Was not a fan of the dessert. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was very nice. I will not go there on a holiday again so that I can choose what I want to eat and not be forced to spend 100$ on food I could not choose.
Very classy and great service! We had a set menu because of Valentine's Day but they were able to accommodate a vegetarian request.
This was to be a Valentines dinner but we were a little disappointed because it was just like any other dinner presentation. Last years presentation was more festive, with the ice sculpture luge and the flaming dessert. Still a great meal and atmosphere.
My wife loves the hot brown and I’m a huge fan of the filet. Service is always great and if you have a chance say hello to Harold.

First, this is the place where the Hot Brown was invented so you have to have one there. It's superior to any of the other versions I've tried. Next, the dining room is gorgeous and the staff is friendly, knowledgable and delightful.

The setting is old world. The ability to hear your dining partners unsurpassed. The attention of the waiters commendable. AND the food was outstanding.

We had a wonderful dining experience at the English Grill. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. He gave us an in-depth history of the hotel in addition to great service. The food was absolutely fabulous! However, I think the highlight of our dinner experience was the special care each table got from Harold, who told me he’s been working in that dining room for 27 years! He was absolutely delightful! Thanks for a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back when we’re in Louisville.
This was the first time we have got a less than great meal. The steaks were cooked close to the way we ordered them but they were very dry. The vegetables were cold. The waiter was not as good as the usual waiter. They were not as intensive as usual. We have reservations for Feb. 14th our anniversary, hope to find a much better out come.

Impeccable service, food, and atmosphere as always. We stay at The Brown every 3-4 months and always dine at The English Grill. There is no need to venture out anywhere else.
We have yet to ever have any negative experiences there. The staff is so friendly and warm. It’s always evident they are passionate about what they do, believe in providing excellent service, and also have knowledge of the rich history of the hotel.
We dined two nights in a row on our last stay and everything was excellent. I had the pork chop the first night and the salmon the second night - both were perfectly cooked and came out hot. My partner had steak both nights. The second night it came out slightly overdone, but Yaser immediately offered to fix it when he came by and happened to notice, despite us not saying anything as it was fine anyway. Everything was hot, beautifully presented, and delicious as always.
Yaser’s service was warm, friendly, attentive, and a pleasure to talk with him as time permitted. We’ve had him serve us on previous visits and the first night of this stay. We specifically requested him for our second evening.
Also, would like to mention Harold, who has been there for years and oversees the dining room - you’ll see him when he brings your amuse bouche, bread, refilling waters, and resetting the dining room. We always look forward to seeing his smiling face and warm welcome whenever we return. His standard of service and excellence is apparent and he always treats guests like family regardless if it’s your first visit or your 100th.
Looking forward to our next trip to Louisville so we can dine at The English Grill.

The braised pork shank and the filet were fantastic. The themed dessert was also very very good. What completed the experience for us was the staff - we loved our server Kelly and our other host Harold. Both of them kept us smiling and in good spirits. My wife and I dined here following our wedding 24 years ago. We’ve been back countless times and never failed to have a wonderful experience. Jamel and Harold provided exceptional service (they seem like old friends!), the food was fabulous (very large portions), perfectly paired wine and a delightful room to enjoy all this.
