The Emporium doesn't fail. The river view is nice, as well as the outdoor patio - but the food is fantastic. The menu offers unusual variety and more than the normal day-to-day expectations, but they have that too if you want it. Prices are not bad considering what you get. Service was excellent.
We brought out of town friends for a special lunch get together. They loved the building, the waiter and the food. We had a wonderful lingering lunch with delicious food and drink. The server was excellent as well. One of my favorite places to eat, hope to be back soon.
The tilapia wasn’t great, it lacked any flavor service was wonderful.
Prompt and friendly service. Broad selection on menu. Fun and Hip Location!
Terrible food for all in our party, only saved by our pleasant and gracious server
We celebrated our 45th anniversary at the Emporium. We enjoy getting a seat by the window overlooking the river. The food is always delicious and our waitress was very friendly. She let us pick out desert free because of our anniversary and the carrot cake we chose was wonderful.
The 14 oz pork chop was huge and was cooked perfectly. We eat at the Emporium several times a year and it has ended up to be one of our favorites.
It was great. Great food. Great service.
The food and service was great along with a beautiful building. Was also a great location being right in the river giving an excellent place for a walk after dinner. However, the only downside was that my reservation for 2 made with Open Table was not in their system. Luckily we were still able to be seated right away even though there were several prom kids everywhere. Not sure why they didn't have the reservation though. I've made several reservations using Open Table before and never had a problem. Overall it was a great evening
As usual, the food was great! It was lovely to sit out on the patio. The only negative of our evening was the slow service. If it had been super busy, I could understand. However, it was not busy at all. I had to ask for the bread basket after waiting around 45minutes.
Unexpected POOR SERVICE; food was "fine."
We (party of 2) arrived at 6:24 after making 6:30 RESERVATIONS to coordinate with an 8pm show at the Morris. We had eaten here before a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.
Upon arrival we were told we would be seated in 10 minutes, even though we had reservations (?). As we were waiting, we heard 2 not overly busy hostesses tell another customer that the waitress at their station was covering a lot of area so there might be a delay in their service. We heard them reiterate to arriving customers how very busy they were.
We were seated at 6:45 at a 2-seat table in a small 3-table section on the same floor as the hostess desk overlooking the main floor. I was about to get up and ask at the desk when at 6:55pm a server came to our table. It would have seemed that one of the (now 3) hostesses we had been watching talking to each other at the front desk could have been re-routed for beverage/bread service - or just to let us know we had not been forgotten.
Our waitress asked our forgiveness for the delay and explained that she was running a million miles an hour because they were "so busy." That statement didn't jive with reality in that the patio was only ~50% full, and we were looking down on a main dining area with 4 occupied and at least 6 totally empty tables. There was a large table adjacent being set up for a large party, but it was still empty.
We advised our waitress of our show time and said we would like to go ahead and order. I chose the salmon entree, but was told there would be a $3 SURCHARGE for switching from asparagus to green beans. So I then asked about the Trout special, and she said (not joking) "that comes with your choice of any starch or vegetable." WHAT?!?!?
Our food was fine, nothing extraordinary; nothing to call us back. But Emporium management needs to up their customer service efforts quite a few notches.
We won't be coming back for next year's season tickets.
Disappointed this visit; kitchen seems to be inconsistent. I was SO looking forward to ordering the Tilapia Oscar based on my previous experience with it the last time I had ordered it. First time I had it, it was delightfully rich; fish was moist, asaparagus was properly steamed, and the crabmeat was generous and tasty, as was the yummy Hollandaise sauce that covered the crabmeat and asparagus. Unfortunately, this evening's fish was dry and 'fishy', the asparagus difficult to cut, and the Hollandaise sauce might have been a couple of tablespoons at best. The 'crabmeat' was not layered under the sauce, but rather, sprinkled to the sides of the asparagus looking dry, as though it had been forgotten and added after the fact; 'crabmeat' seriously tasted and LOOKED more like tuna than crabmeat. ???
The last time I ordered this meal it was so generous and rich, I couldn't finish it and had to have half of it boxed. This meal was so disappointing, I just plain couldn't finish it - period. I probably should have just sent it back after the first couple of bites confirmed my suspicions, but we really didn't have time as we had a play at the Morris to catch.
One that note, I will also say that although we arrived lbefore our dinner reservation, we were left standing 10 minutes past it before they seated us at our table. So it was at least a full 25 minutes after our arrival before our meal orders were turned into the kitchen by the time we had placed our drink orders first - and we both already knew what we wanted before we were seated. We had this same experience with having to wait to be seated with our last dinner reservation. Fortunately for both visits we had excellent waitresses who were very attentive and pleasant.
I do love the Emporium for the nostalgia of the place, but the kitchen needs to be more consistent. I certainly would be embarrassed if anyone that I had gushed to about how good their Tilapia Oscar is, had gone there for it on my recommendation.
As always, food was delicious and the service excellent.
Many years ago the food was wonderful. Now, not impressive. Our salmon was dry, the rice had some very hard, dry pieces of rice in it. Only had four stalks of asparagus. French onion soup not near as good as it used to be. The dinner rolls and coffee were good.
I had family in town so we went for an early lunch and had a fantastic experience! Emporium had friendly service, delicious food, and a beautiful view of the river. I had the caramelized onion and bacon mac & cheese and the prime rib salad, both of which were great. Would recommend for groups, dates, or business meals, had a friendly and nice but casual atmosphere.
My boyfriend and another couple went to the Emporium for dinner before our prom. The food was delicious, the service was great, and we definitley left all full.
Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the meal and great service.
We always enjoy our date nights at the Emporium. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the food is wonderful. We've tried many of the menu options and everything is delicious...we do favor the salmon and the fish and chips.
Just awesome all around with atmosphere, service, and delicious food
The cosmetics of the building are spectacular. The menu wasn’t too small nor too overwhelming. Our server was amazing! I wish I could remember her name. She was spot on with her timing on water/drinks, app ordering, entrees, and checking in on us to ensure we enjoyed our dinner. Very polite and always smiling.
It was nice. A little old looking. Our waitress gave us our drinks free and it was my birthday so I got a free dessert. I was a bit disappointed it wasn't more upscale. But there really wasn't anything to complain about. It is a neat old building and right by the River Walk so that is cool!
It was my birthday and I love coming there!
Within 40 minutes of being seated we only received 2 waters and our appetizer of breaded mushrooms. After 40 minutes we received 2 salads and a basket of cold rolls. I was also informed that my prime rib i ordered 40 minutes earlier is not available cause they ran out. So I ordered the New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wifes food came out nice and hot and my steak came out well done when i asked for medium. The mashed potatoes were slightly cold but the asparagus was delicious. When desert was offered we ordered a chocolate cake with a moose in the middle. We shortly came to find out they were out of that too so we just payed and left. We were on a schedule because we were going to a play across the street which started at 8pm. I made reservations at 6pm so we could enjoy dinner and not have to rush. Well since our food didnt come out til 7:10. So we had to hurry and eat and not be able to enjoy a nice meal together.
Did not have a table ready at time agreed upon, had to wait 15 minutes and sit upstairs and a bunch of 10-14 yr old Hockey players made a to much noise for this price point of restaurant. Food was good but not served Hot. Server Sofia was great & attentive but the menus looked worn and tattered, the light bulbs in the fixtures were mismatched. A once, very nice restaurant, that is showing its' decline. It is a real shame.
We decided to check out the Emporium for our Anniversary dinner on Saturday night. This place is located on the river and has really great views of the water and all the lights. We made a 7:30pm reservation and we got right in. Our server Anya was awesome! She was spot on and very attentive to our table. We ordered French onion soup, Emporium salad, New York strip and shrimp Alfredo. Everything was great!! We ordered the apple tart for dessert. Overall we had a good experience here and will definitely be back in the future.
Loved the layout of the restaurant. It was very quiet and peaceful. The food was prompt and delicious.
Was so glad we found this place. The food and atmosphere make for a wonderful experience.
Really nice location. I'm going back sometime later in the evening to take in the river lights. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive and prices are reasonable. Overall, a great experience.
The food was great! We all had a different dish and each one looked fabulous.
Love the view and the building has great character. The food is tasty but could use some cleaning up as far as plating. The hostess/waitress was sweet and nice and prompt with drinks and food but not very helpful in recommendations or descriptions of the food.
Good food, good service, great view. Not very busy on a Thursday night.
It was my mothers 85th birthday. The chef prepared an appetizer gluten-free for us, the waitress was wonderful and made my mom feel really special, and the food was amazing. Thank you Empirium for helping give my mom a very special night out.
We had a nice lunch there with a good view of the river . Our sandwiches were tasty and the restaurant had a nice ambience.
Prices were reasonable as well.
We had wonderful experience, arrived a bit early for dinner but had a couple of drinks & appetizer & relaxed after 6 hour drive, when first choice of wine for dinner was unavailable a couple of well chosen alternatives were offered at a discount, and the food was absolutely fabulous
Everything was awesome, except...when I made the reservation online for seating specifications, I requested cozy and quaint, away from children, they wanted to seat us right in the middle of the main dining area. There were plenty of open seats. Thankfully, I requested a different location, just as I requested. Jenny was an excellent server!
Overall great dining experience. Great menu, great food, great atmosphere, always accommodating !
We hadn't been there for some time, I ordered the filet Oscar and the crab meat on the steak was pitiful, the steak was good quality and the salad was good, the mashed potatoes were horrible, lumpy and cold.
The food, service and ambiance was great. I would recommend it. The waitress was very nice.
Good food. Environment was good. Value is there. Only negative was the homeless man waiting in the lobby asking us for our leftovers. Other than that it was a good night and the food is always excellent.
This was my first time dining here and I was very impressed!
Food: My Salmon dinner was excellent; my wife's and son's Talapia was average; my wife's brother's shrimp dinner was excellent.
Service: (Adam) was very good, very attentative !
Ambiance: Very nice setting. For being busy is was quiet enough to converse without having to yell back and forth. There were no unruly, screaming, crying, whining kids, which was a nice respite from other restaurants we've experienced.
