Awesome place and the food was great.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff! Great date night restaurant!
Anacini was frozen in the middle and waitress(Jessica) took care of it right away. Very Happy with great food and great service.
We went to the Emporium for Valentine's Day. Our waitress was excellent. She always kept an eye on us and, as we were leaving, she noticed my husband forgot his take home box and caught up with us! It was a vety enjoyabe evening.
Ribeye steak meal did not have taste
Filet seemed stringy like a roast
Not good food experience at all
Really.good meals for my wife and myself...very friendly also
Plates that the food was served on were not warm. Several of our party had food too cool. One had to send her back to be heated up. Otherwise everything was great and delicious. I did notice that no bread or butter was served with our dinners. I'm the only person who looks for bread and butter ! No one really missed it as we had appetizers and dessert. Otherwise, A great choice for our group after the theater.
seated, 15 mins later we left without having had a single interaction with a server or otherwise. attempted once (at about the 5 min mark) to get attention, without success. a waitress on two separate occasions was within 2 feet of us. we did not sample the food. however, if the food appeared appealing we may have waited a few more minutes.
Enjoyed dining at the Emporium with several of my girlfriends.
Great food, great service! Very unique and historic venue! Recommend dining here for any occasion!
Staff had confusion on where our table was. After being sat we had to find someone to serve us. We were still not getting much service, finally after becoming uncomfortable we canceled our meal and left with out eating. With no apology or thank you the sever said okay goodbye, seemed as though we were more of a nuisance than costumers. Felt like we were not welcome there and it was quite humiliating.
went there for our staff Christmas lunch. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance and the food was delish.
Enjoyed our total experience. Food was much better than the last visit. Have gone there for years and the new menu has a nice variety. Love the atmosphere. Bonus was an extraordinary sunset!
Very poor experience. The most expensive glass of red wine on the menu was not fresh. Tasted like it had been sitting around open for to long. The food was not well prepared. They brought it out within 5 minutes of ordering which tells me the ingredients were prepared ahead of time and just kept cold or hot. Dishes could not have been prepared in any other way. The chicken in all of our dishes was way overdone and almost impossible to eat. Tough and tasteless. The pasta in one of our dishes was cold on top and very hot on the bottom and the asparagus in the pasta was almost raw. The fish and chips had so much batter on them that you could not even taste the fish. One of the worst meals all 4 of us have had. Certainly not up to the standards the restaurant would want for their customers. We have eaten here many times before but it will be quite awhile before we will consider returning.
Overall experience was very good. Wobbly table fixed with a napkin. Bathrooms were not impressive. One person did not get their coffee and one plate was not removed. Waitress did a good job with a celebrated birthday. 😋
We go after attending shows at the Morris. It is always a nice treat.
It was a great choice to come here for dinner! The service was great, the food was amazing, and the setting was fantastic! Definitely recommend.
We had an absolutely terrific time at The Emporium for a family get together. Our table was excellent; our server was the best we've ever had. The food for every single member of our party was outstanding, delicious, and fresh. It was really perfect.
Service was pretty bad—I’m not going to lie. The waitress brought the menus then disappeared for about 20 minutes at a time on several occasions. I asked for a glass of wine, lucky it ever came. Food was not that great. Hot food was not hot (my pet peeve since I want hot food to be served hot.) My son ordered a steak but it was of such poor quality (mostly fat) that it was essentially inedible. Prices were not commensurate to the quality of the food, but were inversely proportional. Don’t think I can go back.
Dinner before a concert at the Morris Civic
This restaurant said that they could handle gluten free but they can’t. I have celiac and can’t have cross contaminated food. The fryer is shared with breaded items and the buns are cooked directly on the grill making those insafe also. When I addressed this with the manager on duty, he laughed at me. I would not recommend this restaurant.
There were 3 of us dining, we were in town to catch a concert so I made our reservation in an earlier time slot, definitely not during the dinner rush. The restaurant wasn’t busy, so there should have been no excuse for the way our visit turned out. Apps and drinks were fine, but that’s where it ended. I ordered fish tacos that were painfully dry and over cooked with little slaw or sauce, my husband had the grilled shrimp and our friend ordered a medium-well filet. Everything came out cold and way overdone. The filet looked like a hockey puck, done way past medium-well, and the sides were wrong. My husband’s shrimp were rubbery and didn’t have much flavor. Our server was MIA for probably 10-15 minutes after our food was brought out. We sent the steak and my tacos back when he finally came back, spoke to a manager and had our entrees comped. The manager was accomodating but he also tried to pass the filet as medium-well. The food is definitely not worth the high price tag, find somewhere else to go. It’s a shame that such a beautiful building houses such a sub-par restaurant.
Went here for my wedding anniversary. Food was fantastic!! Servers were very nice and friendly.
Not very busy on a Sunday early evening and not just did we get non attentive service we witness tables around us getting slow sporadic service. No manager was visible on floor and actually we barely saw our waitress . With service like this this place is only going to get slowwr
Been there many times and took out of town visitors there on 9/28 which they enjoyed very much. Service was a slower than usual but it was VERY busy and there was also a private party upstairs. Because it was so busy, it was also very noisy but that was to be expected. Still, it is our favorite go-to place in South Bend.
We had a reservation. Our table was ready. Our server had much knowledge of the menu. I had the pecan-crusted tilapia special - delicious. We will be back the next time we're in South Bend.
Food was very good, however, two of the meals were fairly cold
They were very accommodating when it came to seating preference, we really enjoyed being able to see the river lights..
We will definitely be back!
The food at the Emporium was as good as I expected but the service was not that the great. They did not have enough wait staff to accommodate the number of people in the restaurant so noone took our order in a timely manner and our food took longer than usual to prepare. As a matter a fact the table next to us got their food before their appetizer. I would still recommend the restaurant but something needs to be done about the service.
The evening we ate at the Emporium improved when we moved to an outdoor table. There was a party upstairs for young boys which accounted for the noise! The pork chop that a friend ordered was very dry and she was disappointed that a salad did not come with her meal. Our waiter didn’t ask us if wanted a salad for $ extra until He was asked & then he offered to bring us dinner rolls (which are free) if we wanted them! My steak Oscar was delicious thankfully.
We have been here at least once or twice per year for several years. This time we were rather disappointed. The steaks were overdone and not good cuts of meat. The tilapia was not good. The service was excellent however. The food needs lots of work. Also it was extremely loud in there. They need better acoustics.
Our go-to spot in South Bend. Right on the river!
Third time ordering the same item in the past 3 months. First time was excellent, second & third time, very disappointed; not good at all. Chicken salad pita was so loaded with onion it was overpowering all other flavors. Picked out at least 25 pieces of onion and that was not all of it. Ridiculous amount of onion for such a small portion of chicken salad.
Barely any cheese or bacon on it either; all you could taste was onion. WTH? Fries
also were d.o.a. - - barely reheated; leftover from lunch?
We also ordered the Brie in puff pastry
for an appetizer, which was good and served with a nice presentation of sliced strawberries and apples. A+ on presentation; F for slicing the strawberries with the same knife/cutting spot that was obviously used to chop the onions, as each slice of strawberry had the aroma and slight taste of onion as well. Sadly, it seems that their kitchen needs an overhaul. This used to be our go-to restaurant for any event we are attending downtown. Probably ate there with various friends at least 8-10 times a year. After my experiences with meals there in the last year, I give up. Won't be back.
Even after telling the waitress we had a deadline to leave for a nearby concert, it took an hour and a half from order to getting food. The food was overcooked and dried out as if it had been under heat lights for some time.
We have eaten at the Eporium before and had a positive experience. But, this time, we had issues with the server. First of all when I gave her me groupon coupon, she immediately circled the part that said we were expected to tip based on the non discounted bill.We were aware of this. My husband always gives 20% as a tip. She came back to check on us and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We have another groupon coupon, so, we will probably go to use that.
Great appetizers, great service (Jenny was surpurb), nice decor. Would have given food a higher rating, but, both filets that were ordered medium rare came out burnt, tough stringy and just plain poor quality...
Slow service and food not hot. Have done better in previous visits.
Made a reservation and when we arrived 10 minutes early we were told the kitchen had closed and the restaurant never got the reservation! I showed them the confirmation and they simple said, we are closed!
Great place to eat especially in the outdoor seating. Food is delicious and the service was on point.
