The Empire Lounge and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Top to bottom amazing experience at Empire. The food was outstanding, cocktails perfect, and service was spot on. My wife and I had never been before, but now it is sure to be a go-to spot for us. The Ruby Red Trout and Saffron Risotto were divine. I can't wait to go back and explore the menu further. It is well worth the cost, everything is handmade with care from the taste to the plating it was on point. Looking forward to our next trip over. The Empire has won over these two foodies.
A local favorite -- for a reason. Good food, warm hospitality, great outdoor patios and a casual atmosphere make The Empire one of our favorites. Never disappoints with a good and varied menu. Well worth the drive if you're not a local
Just checking out Gluten free rest and saw this pop up on open table nearby. For starters we had the figs wrapped in bacon sitting on top of some soft goat cheese. That was great. Bacon was crisp, figs were sweet and the goat cheese just helped it melt in your mouth. Wife had the saffron risotto and for dinner it was very good. I had the "fried chicken". Wow, had 2 legs/thighs and a huge chicken breast. Was lightly bread crumbed by very juicy and tasty. Came with mashed potatoes. Urp (I had to bring the breast home it was so much). Service was good, pretty fast, food was excellent.
Calmari salad, duck hash, crepe, eggs and home fries were excellent. However bacon soggy, and service poor. We got a dirty spoon ask hostess to fix and she NEVER CAME BACK EVEN AFTER WE MADE EYE CONTACT WITH HER WHEN SHE SEATED ANOTHER PARTY FIVE MINUTES LATER. WE WERE OVERCHARGED TWICE AFTER ASKING WAITRESS TO FIX IT. WE GAVE UP AND LEFT. WAS NOT SUPER BUSY SO NO EXCUSE.
The Empire Continues to Please
The menu was updated again with lot of new treasures to sample. The short-rib tacos and the Reuben were outstanding additions this time around.
We went in support of the Earth Day event that the owners of The Empire put together for downtown restaurants to make a donation to an environmental cause, and very much appreciate their community-mindedness. thank you!
The staff is always friendly and service is spot-on without being overbearing.
I've have been coming to the Empire for years with my family and friends and it has always been a great venue but they have just revamped the menu and KAPOW! - It has taken a stratospheric leap in the right direction.
Go try it.
Friendly servers, buzzing bar area, booth seating in the main restaurant and high tops by the huge front windows - in good weather these are removed for a complete indoor/outdoor viewing experience. Summertime there's patio seating on the street. What more could you want? This place has it all. Did I mention the fantastic cocktails too?!
We always love the Empire. Their staff is excellent and many have been there for years, which is always a good sign.
Be careful when they offer you bread. It is freshly made and you can easily fill up on bread before your meal gets there!
We went on Valentine's Day. We were sat immediately as we had an Open Table Reservation. The staff was very friendly. The ambience is great; local, casual with good energy. However I thought the pricing was over the top for the portions and quality of preparation. Small plates and happy hour seem to the best value at this restaurant.
Booked a table for 6 before 9 pm on a Saturday. Our waiter was only okay but the kitchen was out of many of the entrees and the kitchen staff left before we got an opportunity to look at the dessert menu. Basically got kicked out of the place by 10:30 on a Saturday night.
Won't be going back.
It is a beautiful space and they have one of the best bartenders in East Boulder County, but over and again the food totally disappoints. I ordered crab cakes, a special entree. $27 for four greasy, pancake thin, nasty tasting crab cakes, that had all-too-obviously been cooked on a dirty greasy flat top and smooshed with a spatula. Terrible. Husband had the burger, which was overcooked AND cold, a truly unhappy combination. This place makes me sad because I want to like it, need a place like this in my 'hood, but the food is just over priced and inconsistent.
We have always loved the Empire but its been pretty hit or miss over the past year. This past visit may be our last sadly. The food at times is really quite poor, being half cooked or completely unappetizing. After waiting an hour for a lackluster meal we were presented with our (expensive) check with all of our dirty dishes stacked on the table in front of us. Friendly but poor service.
We went here for a New Year Birthday dinner. The first place we picked was booked solid, this was a fall back. I am very glad we couldn't make the first choice work. I've been by this place a dozen times and never went in because I assumed it was a typical bar and grill. It has the comfortable feel of a bar and grill, but the food and atmosphere are really top notch.
The staff, Jim, Lexi, and our server Emily were OUTSTANDING.
Knowledgeable about all the ingredients and menu items, and when something wasn't right, they went above and beyond to fix it.
Reasonably priced and DELICIOUS and the service was extremely attentive but not intrusive.
The house cocktails are impressive!
Thank you! Our favorite restaurant in Louisville hands down.
We will be back!
We hadn't realized there was a modified New Year's Eve menu despite having days-ahead reservations; hostess and wait staff treated us like we were imposing on them at 5 pm (lots of "getting ready:" carrying up wine and beer, glasses, drying plates, which made for painfully slow service, we were never asked about having another drink, slight eye roll when I had to stop our server to ask for the check, when we'd been completely finished for 15 minutes and in our booth for over an hour total); mediocre food (house-cured bacon, rubbery mushrooms and lemon make for a strange confit); prices, at least for what we received, were high. Won't be back.
Disappointed. Sorry. Our waiter was wonderful and the place is always so comfortable. But they have a new chef and there are menu problems. I spent $40 on mediocre food. None of the staples from the original Empire are on the menu. It is a very simple and unimpressive menu. It used to be a place for foodies and families. It is overpriced for what it is now.
I Have been to Empire at least 5 times in the last 9 months. This visit had way to many shortcomings. Food on the menu was not available, food ordered ran out before we were served. In general a mediocre experience and I can get that anywhere I go to empire to enjoy the oysters and everything else they do so well. What has been one of my go to places just completely under performed this time.
It must have been a very off night... They ran out of almost every main dish on the menu. And on a Friday? Service was obnoxiously slow because the did not let us know about the food shortage until 30 minutes after we ordered. The pork was overcooked and dry; paella, dry and tasteless. The bright spot was the 33% off discount on their (excellent) bottled wine list. What's happening, Empire?
