The Edmondson Faculty Center Ratings and Reviews
I had the Morton Cobb. The amount of protein in it was snack size and the entire salad was very small. For the amount they are charging at least have 4 oz. of chicken to make up for the size. The chicken pieces looked like I was sharing my half breast with someone else.
We had a business lunch set and the alarm went off shortly after our meal came out, and the staff was absolutely fantastic. They set a table for us outside and they had our food and drinks out and were just amazing. There was not a single flaw. We are so grateful.
The food is usually very good, but this time, my steak was very salty, overcooked, and dry (I asked for medium rare). Also, the server ran his pen against my husband's light-color Polo shirt and didn't even apologize. We're not sure if we can get the pen mark out of the front of the shirt now. Very disappointed as this is fairly unusual.
I've eaten here a few times....and this last my guests were complaining about the poor service. It seemed there were waiters taking care of all of the tables around us, but it took the restaurant more than 10 minutes to get our drinks and another 10 before someone took our order. I like the food and it would be so much nicer if the servers were more timely.
Work events bring me here, usually for lunch, once or twice a year, for several years. Usually get the same unfriendly waiter, Victor, who does his best to make you feel like an annoyance. This time, as is generally the case, it didn't appear to be busy in the restaurant, yet he's in a hurry. Too busy to explain anything on the menu. Just wants to get you in and out as quickly as possible. How has he kept his job for so many years? (Maybe he wears someone else's name tag) I think your survey is laughable! Other than the decor, not much has changed.
I got the hamburger, because even with "department" money, nothing looked interesting or to be of good value. The burger was essentially an unseasoned hunk of meat. The meat was OK, but there was no attempt to make it flavorful. The menu emphasizes that the burger has "caramelized onions", which I like. I asked Victor for extra grilled onions; he made a note, and when he brought the order, said "with extra grilled onions". There were very few onions and the burger had no flavor. I don't see significant improvement over the last 8 years or so.
The food was delicious and expertly prepared. However, only go there if your work is paying for the meal or you are feeling extremely generous. I had a beautiful seafood meal that only took about 10 bites to eat it all and cost $30! And of course, the non-alcoholic drinks and dessert added quite a bit more on the bill. For most wealthy people, I am sure this must seem very reasonable, but for me, I could only afford this kind of meal about once a year and just for a very special occasion. But like I said, the food was awesome!
The remodel was very nicely done and the ambience was modern and pleasant. I ordered one of their non-alcoholic specialty drinks with cucumber and coconut water and found it to be a bit too salty. My colleague ordered an iced tea with gold flakes, which was beautiful. My vegetable sandwich on focaccia bread was poorly presented and small in portion for the price. It had way too much olive tapenade so all in all I was disappointed by the food.
This was my third time in the new Edmundson. The first two were in a group in a private room. All went well. On the most recent occasion it was just two of us in the main room. The waiter clearly forgot about us. I had to get his attention to order. I also had to go to the front desk, after waiting far too long, that are meals, two salads, never arrived. My guest had to leave with her meal barely touched. I attribute this glitch to the first weeks' transition and look forward to better experiences in the future. I will be back.
