The AC was a bit high and we were a little cold
Great selection of food and drinks. Quick, friendly service. Worth it!
It is a lovely location. The bar service was not good -- the old fashioned was served without a garnish and the other drink order was completely wrong. Most of our food was pretty good, although we waited for about 5 minutes for plates for the arancini, which was lukewarm by the time we got them. It was also served without a serving spoon, so we each had to stick our forks in the dish. My Caesar salad was all outside dark leaves and had nothing to recommend it. Everyone else enjoyed their main courses, however (salmon, short ribs, steak). Dessert (chocolate cake) was amazing. It was loud, but not overwhelming.
ONLY HOSTESSES FRIENDLY
RESERVATION AND waited forever.
The view is so lovely on a nice day, just really makes you enjoy Tallahassee and the lovely park. I wish this place was not so hit and miss. Recently I had a reservation for 6 for a birthday celebration only to arrive and discover they were closed and had not updated the Open Table data. Most recently ordered a bottle of white wine for brunch and was brought a different bottle for a significant upcharge and it was warm ( white wine) and the server stated they had not "had time" to chill any wines ( for a holiday weekend ). He broke the cork and seemed unfamiliar with even how to open wine. It was warm and not drinkable. The "medium rare steak and poached eggs" arrived well done leathery and hard-boiled eggs. Sent back. not edible. Overall a serious of disappointments. I would say , if you go, go with 0 expectations and just enjoy the park. Do not go for the food or service. The manager came to our table at the very end ( too late) and took off my bad food but the wine should have never been sent out by the bartender such as it was ( for $75). Never see the same manager or server twice here.
No parking available when we arrived and the noise level was excessive inside. But everything else was great.. Food, service, ambiance were very good
Server was kinda slow.
We had to wait a fair amount of time before our waiter showed up. Thought the portions were small particularly the shrimp and grits.... needed more shrimp. No complimentary bread.. $4 dollars for sourdough .......food was good just thought the value wasn’t there. Great atmosphere though...
Nice place, good food and great servers and host.
Really nothing that great...or that poor, just sort of mediocre. Nice looking building, with a nice feeling.
Probably will not return, too many other fun and special places in town and around the university.
Gorgeous views of the park while enjoying a savory meal with attentive service. I will definitely be back! Hoping to try brunch next time.
New Years dinner. The place is very nice , modern loft style. Food was good nothung our this world but still tasty! Would definitely recommend
The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. I would recommend The Edison to all my friends.
Wonderful experience. Good and drinks were fantastic. Service was great! Can’t wait to go back
Shared a wonderful meal here with friends. We live nearby, so we enjoy being able to walk to the restaurant. Sitting outside with the park sites and breeze is very enjoyable. The food is very good and the service was good, as well. If you like desserts, get the bread pudding!
We made a reservation through OpenTable over 2 weeks ago for work lunch, when we show up today there was nobody at the hostess stand we had to grab somebody's attention out of the kitchen and they said they were not open for lunch and sent us downstairs to the power plant which is for breakfast where we were treated very rudely by the person working there until we decided to leave. Very disappointed that with the reservation of 2 weeks nobody could reach out and tell us that they were closed and the reservation was not valid. Will be the last time I ever try to go to the Edison.
The food was cold and just like last year on the Santa brunch very mediocre. The coffee is also always cold. The Santa part was adorable but again the food completely lackluster and pretty much every other breakfast place in town is better.
The food was good and my server was attentive and friendly. It's a beautiful space and I love the feel of it. However,I would recommend that they get on the straw ban bandwagon like so many other restaurants, as well as get rid of the styrofoam to-go boxes. I didn't even have a chance to tell the server "no straw" because she brought the glass to my table before I sat down. Otherwise, I enjoyed my dinner and loved the repurposing of a great little building.
This is a great downtown place to meet a friend for dinner. We had outstanding service and our entrees were delicious!
Great Thanksgiving meal! Service was outstanding!
We went for Thanksgiving and it was perfect! All the favorites, brought to your table with your specifications. I had a steak instead of turkey and ham, and it was delicious! The best part was they offered extra leftovers to take home at no additional price! Our server Cassidy was attentive but not annoying. And of course you can’t beat the architecture inside and beauty of the park if you are sitting outside.
Waiter spilt water on table and menu, made no attempt to clean. Good very salty, could barely eat.
Great location and setting. Great drinks and service, but just okay food. For instance, the crab cakes are reminiscent of store bought from a freezer with heavy breading. Some of the menu items show great potential.
Good overall. New server so service was lacking. Manager made it right when we spoke to them about over charges and service. We will give it another try since we had heard it was great though ours was not this time.
The waitress was very attentive and the food aweseives quickly. The Nacho portion was smaller than the last time we had it a few months ago.
Service was amazing! Staff was very helpful and attentive even though it was a busy night. Food was very good. We will be back.
Florida Board appetizer was okay; entrees of salmon, shrimp and grits, and chicken were all solid but not great. Chocolate cake with raspberry was delicious. Service was good and attentive.
Overall experience was okay. Went for Sunday brunch. It was too crowded. The staff seemed to rush us in and out and the menu didn’t match what was online. When we asked about the brunch items missing they advised as they were too busy during brunch they had to stick to quicker meals. That wasn’t quite the experience we were looking for to match the pricing.
Restaurant decided to have a “select” menu with very limited food based on expected large attendance from fsu home game. No notification - not on web, not from hostess prior to sitting and left it up to embarrassed server to inform us. He stated 3/4 of his tables had walked out in disappointment- as did we, after at least giving him a tip based on empathy for having to put up with that environment from the management staff.
We eat at this establishment 8-10 times a year, and this might have been our last. Disappointing.
By the way, the restaurant was 1/2 empty - so poor planning with “limited” menu.
The ambiance and food was amazing! Really enjoyed the bottomless mimosas as well. Was disappointed to be told upon arrival that there was a limited menu for brunch that day. While I booked online using open table, I also call three days before to increase the number of guests. At no time was I told it would not be the normal menu.
We came to The Edison for Saturday Brunch. The food was served cold and the grits tasted as if they were left over from the previous day. They were lumpy, not creamy and the came so cold that the butter would not melt in them. I love the ambiance of The Edison, but the food is not worth the visit. If you are going there just for cocktails, your visit will be enjoyable. Our party of four all had something different, from The Celebration Menu and no one thought their meal was delicious.
Would recommend to a friend, but not on a game weekend! Was disappointed that it was a limited menu and there was nothing online to that effect...but that should mean that the cook times would be fast, right? 25 minutes for guacamole (there were only 3 other appetizers to choose from). We were sat 25 minutes after our reservation time. Dinner seemed to take a while as well but fortunately we were enjoying the company of friends by that point and didn’t pay attention to how long it actually took. Willing to give it another shot on an off weekend as we were really looking forward to the full menu but would not return, nor recommend, for any weekend where there are a lot of people in town, ie graduation.
We should have been notified upon making the reservation that this venue has minimal indoor dining room seating. We ended up being seated in the coffee shop area in the basement. And we had a reservation though Open Table!!!! We were not happy. We told the owner this on our way out.
We went to the Edison based on several recommendations and the extensive menu online. We were in town for the first time, and we were only going to be in for two nights. We had a reservation and were immediately seated, though we did not get seated in the actual restaurant. We got seated in the coffee shop area on the lower level, which was a major bummer because there was no ambiance at all. They had a fireplace playing for a short time on the TVs, but it soon changed to a Netflix preview and they never changed it. It was relatively quiet down there at first, which was nice. Service was slow but they had to get up and down mostly by elevator. Still the biggest upset was that the menu was extremely limited because it was a FSU game weekend. Yet my food was amazing - we didn’t have many options, but husband had the grilled chicken and I had the fried chicken. Husband said his food was good, but he ate quite a bit of mine because it was phenomenal. We had wanted an appetizer but again, almost no options, not even bread service. So all in all, the food was very redeeming, but the ambiance was awful, service was kind but slow. We sadly may not be back to town so we may not get to try it again on a better night.
Fun night limited menu
They had a limited menu with NO prior notice due to "Football Weekend".
But worse yet, my wife asked them to simply remove the mashed potatoes from her plate and she was told that there would be a "$5.00 Removal Fee".
We picked this restaurant based on the online menu, but when we arrived we were given a very abbreviated menu because they were expecting extra business for homecoming weekend at FSU. It wasn't all that busy at 8pm. Although the food we ordered was good, there were absolutely no extras, not even some bread for the table, and salads were served with the meal, not before the meal. We were also seated next to a table of people with a little barking dog. Since when are animals allowed in food establishments?? This was absolutely not a service dog! I also had to ask the server to change the channel on the TV screen that we were seated by. I do not need to listen to annoying CNN spewing their fake news politics when I am trying to relax on a Saturday night. We left feeling aggravated. Would not go back.
Quick service, great environment!
We sat outside for brunch and had a great meal and great service .
Birthday celebration for my daughter’s 19th bday. Service was slow at first but after placing order the server was attentive
