Love this place, definitely coming back, food could be a little tastier.
Beautiful place, great music and service but a bit over priced. $16/drink....not necessary to gouge like that. It’s a place where people go to drink, don’t have to charge such steep prices.
Bad management. Cancelled reservation last min, 2 hours before because of: „a sudden private event that booked out the whole venue“. Ruined my birthday celebration that so had planned there. Never again!
We booked our reservation through Open Table to bring out of town guests too. We went all the way into downtown LA had to pay $20 for parking showed up and were told the entire place was closed for a private event that night. The bouncer was very nice and apologized. What a disappointment.
Had An Awesome Time Celebrating My Birthday With Friends And Family.
The most pretentious, rude, obnoxious staff I have ever experienced in my life. The place smells like a dirty alley.
We showed up on time for our reservation....the hostess downstairs had gone home for the evening. They took about 30 min to find someone to seat us. We finally got a table and it took about another 20 mins just to get a menu dropped in front of us. The waitress passed by at least 5 times before she even said a word.....That's just the first half....now the food......The Truffle Mac and Cheese looked like it sat in the window for to long, the cheese topping was cold and hard....it lacked any essence of truffle and the pasta was undercooked....the Kobe sliders were tough to eat through and lacked any seasoning..at least offer salt at the table of the chef lacks any interest in tasting the food before it even reaches the pass...the fries were the only decent item. Dessert was a bust and lacked any effort.....if your going to put a twist on a classic Elvis delight at least to it some justice....Lacked flavor, execution and over all presentation....The cocktails were executed great....Now Dress Code.....This place used to bring some elegance and style to DTLA...More than half the guys in the building were wearing ripped jeans, sneakers and no collar shirts...it matched the music the dj was playing...there used to be a good blend of genres and yet it lacked anything remotely to what was played in the past.....overall Anniversary Dinner/Date night was a bust!
It was a beautiful night. Definitely coming back for the next special event!
I seriously had at least 6 people check to be sure I had a reservation. I felt like I was doing something wrong. That was in addition to having to confirm twice by phone. Also, you have to bring cash for their cover charge, even if you plan to dine there and meet their $50 min per person. You'll also need cash if you want a shot. Overall great place and I liked the show and food/drinks, but the service was... Strange.
The waitress and manager were awful!
went there for my son's 30th Bday he and his friends had a great time
One of my favorite spots. I always highly recommend the Edison.
The Edison is a great experience regardless of what you and your company are there for (happy hour, sweet potato fries, absinthe, birthday, small intimate gathering, etc.) It has 1920's imbibed in its heart which will make it timeless for at least the next couple of years. The only gripe I have about the place is that I expect with that kind of spirit and atmosphere of time-honored and American tradition is that the service reflect the same sentiment. Hosts and waiters were not accomodating and expressed little to no knowledge of customer service. The Edison is suppose to be a neighborhood lounge with no pretentious attitude. Some of its gears need to be switched or retweeked but other than that it was a good experience overall.
I've been a fan of the Edison for a few months and decided to begin my 40th birthday celebration at there. All of my guests loved the vibe, an excellent combination of the 1920s and present times. It was the first visit for many of them and I am already getting requests to go back. Our server, Drew, was very attentative. I especially like Soup Kitchen Fridays. If you make it to the Edison, make sure you get there in time for happy hour. 40% off drinks is a deal. I would also recommend the shanghai wings.
We visited the Edison for Happy Hour last Friday to celebrate my birthday and we had a great time. Since we made reservations and went early before the crowds we did not have to wait to get in. We had a great table and our waiter provided excellent service. I was very impressed by the entire place and will definitely come back again.
The Edison had a great atmosphere and vibe. It's not a place for a main course meal, but a perfect place for drinks and good appetizers. It's also great to have a group outing and to enjoy the cool environment that it has to offer. It was filled with a good mixture of people, from the downtown business people, to the sleek, casual group to the eclectic. I'd definitely go there again.
We went out for a girls night and had such a great time. The place is beautiful and I love how you feel like you are in the 20's. I absolutely love Edison, I will go there a lot more!
The Friday soup kitchen that runs from 5-7pm is a great deal. Free small tomato soup and bite sized grilled cheese sandwich. A 35 cent drink per person and 40% off drinks during happy hour. We didn't order any appetizers, but the drinks were good as well as strong. The ambiance is amazing in this historical building. Definitely worth checking out. A great spot to hit in downtown LA.
Great place to meet with friends for a special occasion. Highly recommend.
Service is great. Food is great. Drinks are great.
If you are looking for a unique experience, this is your place.
Booked a party of 10. Twelve showed up and it was not an issue. Extra friendly service. Amazing ambiance! We had a BLAST!!!!!!!!! Will frequent this spot.
Loved the ambiance. Beat the line, arrive early or make reservations. I will definitel be returning.
The establishment is an architectural gem in itself and I have been there for several occasions and the wait staff and hostesses are friendly and accommodating. I recently had a reservation for two, and I was seated in a very small coffee table. Given that there is $25 minimum per person we ordered 3 drinks and 2 appetizers and asked for 2 glasses of water to wash down the really yummy drinks. The down side, as soon as the appetizers arrived there was only room for one appetizer and two drinks – the other appetizer I had to place on the coach where another patron without a reservation almost knocked it off.
So what was the point of having a reservation with a minimum requirement if I could not even fit my order on the table and was seate
Feels very grown up. Elegant, drinks are a little expensive and the waiter wasn't that attentive but worth it. Make sure to follow dress code or you won't get in. Good show!
I decided to go to the Edison to celebrate my birthday with friends and family and had a wonderful experience. A few guest arrived early and were able to be seated at my reserved table a little early. The wait staff was very attentive with food and drinks. The ambiance and old world style of the Edison is one of a kind, right out of the 1920s era. The 'Southside Fizz' cocktail is to die for, excellent. Now I am not a woman who drinks hard liquor on the rocks, but the 'Scotch' on the rocks the waiter recommended was smooth; watch out Joan Crawford. The sliders and sweet potato fries hit the spot for me. Everyone enjoyed themselves and want to go again soon.
The Edison is such a classy bar, a real gem in downtown LA, so close yet so far from all the hollywood drama. My favorite day to go is Thursdays because there is no cover charge & it never gets too crowded, the drinks are great, the live jazz is always poppin & the dancers get everybody going. Cheers to the edison.
I was looking forward to this experience, going back to the depression era. The martinis were $16 and the appetizers were highly priced and nothing to write home about. The entertainment was okay loved the costumes and the dancers. Very strange experience. I would go again but when they have the lower price specials and with a group of friends just for an evening out.
Edison was very vibrant for a Weekday Night. Great ambiance and definitely a bar I would be attending again.
Just had my 24th birthday here. Not only is this the most elegant and classy place in LA, but the staff is not only accommodating but friendly. They were able to get me out of a bind when more people showed up for my party then expected and their drinks are incredible. A MUST visit!
A number of my friends had food that they enjoyed. Drinks were so/so. But Ambiance, design, coolness of the place was tops. Hard to hear, but fun to people watch and watch movies, listen to GREAT music. My new favorite place.
Loved the decore and style. Im going back soon!
Really unique, neat place. A gem in the heart of downtown LA. Good food, great ambiance, cool crowd. Drinks were so-so, but could have been the bartender or the night. What they lacked, everything else there made up for! Will definitely be going back!
Wow!!! That was the word for the night - from the time we walked into the restaurant until we left. Came with a group of people with different music tastes and ages and everyone had an equally wonderful time. Had never been to a club/restaurant of this caliber and was amazed at all the special lighting, techniques and overall show that was given. Absolutely marvelous and will be talked about for some time!
The show that evening was great. However, we wanted to see more singing and dancing rather than just acrobats. The performance troup deems themsleves as a cabaret burlesque show. But I have been to those types of shows and this was nothing like it. I would say they are more on the street performer side. The actual lounge itself was very nice. The food was ok. Nothing really pops out for me to comment on. The drinks need a little more help. Their specialty cocktails were not as good as advertised. So most of our party just stuck with more traditional cocktails.
Fantastic architecture and decor - beautiful and chic surroundings.
Enjoyed everything but the food. I have never seen such small portions on a platter at such a high cost. I would go there again later in the evening (we arrived at opening time - mistake) but would not order food again. Waste of money.
We had a great time and I would definitely recommend it as a vibrant bar scene to friends
Good place to take out of towners to show them that LA has class.
Great ambiance, Outstanding spot for after hours drinks for professionals.
Ambiance is a 10, but this is not a great place for groups after about 9pm. It went from pleasant speakeasy to super loud club. I couldn't hear my friend across the table.
Its not a restaurant so why is it opentable
Menu (food and beverage)quality can be and should be improved for the food offering does not fit the overall place/ service. We were lucky that our waitress was an absolute delight (friendly, witty, attentive, quick and accurate with the orders). However, the receptionist was exceptionally unfriendly, unaccomodating, and lazy.
Our server, Drew, was prompt, sociable, and patient with our party. He made great drink recommendations as well. The appetizer platter for two and the Kobe beef sliders were delicious.
The Edison is rated 3.4 stars by 61 OpenTable diners.
