Tables are tight and the volume was intense. The music was great but so hard to hear over really boisterous diners. Can’t blame the establishment. Maybe Tuesday would be a better night than Thursday.
Food was divine. Boyfriend said the salad was the best he had ever had. We went for restaurant week and the wine pairings were delicious. I love French wine and got turned onto a new grape I am excited to explore. My stuffed cabbage was so full of flavor and crunch and the Kabocha “fondue” deserved to be licked off the plate. Boyfriend had the seafood stew. Scallops were so fruity and fresh. Bread is a must for the broth. So glad they participated in RW. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful meal picked from the delicious restaurant week menu. The wine pairing was a definite plus. Our server was extremely intelligible, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant itself is perfectly cozy and nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend.
Visiting NYC, we were looking for an intimate neighborhood restaurant with great food. We found both at The Eddy. Very welcoming with great service too. We’ll go back on our next trip and recommend to friends.
Though the food was delicious, I ultimately found the portion size of the entree (seafood stew) to be beyond the scope of what was justifiable by either price or level of cuisine. This is the first time in a decade of New York I’ve ever felt this way.
Went to experience restaurant week. Was slightly disappointed the ribs didn’t come with anything part from a small amount of purée but they were very tasty! Would definitely return. Lovely ambience for all occasions!
Good food/wine and service, but the portions were pretty small. Perhaps it was because it was restaurant week? But I went and got something else to eat after my meal.
Very good overall, but just short of great. Salad was amazing as was the carpaccio, but the rib eye was just ok. Not sure there’s enough value, $270 for two people for the tasting menu and a couple drinks.
Food was all over salted. I ordered the Lamb ribs and it was a terrible cut- hardly any meat on it, mostly all fat. The fish stew was hardly that. My partner said the shellfish was sitting in a parsley-puddle. Overall it was very sub-par.
Quaint friendly little place in the East Village. Excellent service. Very reasonable prices. The house Cabernet Franc wine was delicious. Gave a generous 15% discount to us because we were en route to the NYTW. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Right now this may be the best restaurant in N.Y.C. Shhhhh! Comfortable and cozy. Welcoming. A changing and always interesting menu. Terrific staff. Good wines, reasonably priced. Our 5th visit. Each one better than the last. Oysters with schmaltz? You must be kidding but so delicious. Where else will you find tongue on the menu? And pastramied at that.
Wonderful night. The service was outstanding. Very intimate atmosphere. Flavor was incredible in all dishes--even a winter salad! Very impressed. The chicken liver mousse and seafood stew were to due for.
Disappointed with my entree because it bore little resemblance to stuffed cabbage. My friend’s lamb ribs were excellent as was the service.
Unfortunately nothing to write home about, was very much looking forward to this dinner
Pricey, but it was NYE. Tables were pushed too close together 2x2. Other than that, great!
Wonderful Chanukah menu. My wife wanted a Chanukah dinner while visiting NYC, and the Eddy more than delivered. We had a great mean with fantastic service.
Superb food and great service!
My friends and I went to the Channuka Tasting menu this past weekend. While The Eddy is one of the only places in the city with a Channuka Tasting menu (props to them!), the meal was really expensive. The food was delicious, but my friends and I left hungry. If you're looking for a delicious meal, with small portions, this is the place to go. The waiters were top notch, and the ambiance was great...I just wish I had twice the amount of food!
We went to the Eddy for the tasting menu, after reading rave reviews online. It was reasonably priced (for NYC) at $75 for 4 courses. All of it was good, but none of it was amazing (except for the bread course with ricotta, which was AMAZING, but not something they actually cooked). There was also some kind of issue with the main courses, which only arrived after a really long wait. Overall, though, it was a nice meal, with nice service, in a cozy dining room.
Overpriced for the quality. NY Steak was not worth $45 - the meat was chewy and lacked flavor ( also was served room temperature and had to be sent back ). Lamb tartar was too plain. Wine by the bottle was also overpriced - French Pinot that sells for $16 at the store cost $52.
This is the perfect small restaurant for you, your friends ... anyone, everyone! Super food, service, and ambiance (small, crowded, noisy--perfect!). A gem! Exciting location that is real NYC. Try the tasting menu. And specialty drinks.
Really nice time at The Eddy! Was a bit of a splurge, but the service and food was excellent so it was the perfect place to celebrate my new job. My cousin and I had a blast, and the food was great for sharing so we could try a bunch of things on the menu. Will be back for another celebration I'm sure!
Tasting menu is a bust.
Especially the wine paring
First time and definitely not the last! The Chefs tasting menu was delicious and the family style plates were a great portion! The wine pairings were exceptionally priced and while most were familiar varietals, each was unique and really paired beautifully with the course. The bread course was unlike anything I have ever eaten - sweet, salty, crisp, light and decadent - I wish I could eat that every day! The staff was so kind and friendly and I can't wait to go back soon and sit in the cozy bar area next time.
Great drinks. Wonderful wait staff. Very nice Langos (sp?), Hungarian fried bread, deviled egg and salad apps. Avoid the bone-in NY Strip, tough, grisly, covered in butter.
What an attentive wait staff. Going above and beyond to tell me more about the wine I was drinking. Food was out of this world. Beautiful setting. Highly recommended.
My partner and I wandered in one night when every cocktail bar nearby was full and were very happily surprised. The cocktails were fantastic and the staff was so nice! So we came back the next night for dinner. The wine list and cocktails were both amazing, the service was perfect, and the food was a great mix of inventive and classic both. Would go again!
Great tasting menu, great date atmosphere, and great cocktails. I would have preferred more courses or larger portions since we were sharing rather than having our own plates. Excellent service; they received us with champagne since they knew it was an anniversary and there was very little wait time between courses.
Excellent food. Menu features seasonal, fresh ingredients. Everything cooked perfectly.
Excellent service. Great atmosphere.
Wonderful cozy atmosphere! I had never heard of this place but it was near a show we were going to see so we decided to make a reservation and we were not disappointed. The service was on par and the food was absolutely delicious. Try the steak and definitely their specialty bread appetizer. We opted for all a cart instead of the tasting menu but if I went back I would definitely try the tasting menu.
Not all the dishes were "out of the park" experiences. The starting bread was far too sweet for pre-dinner cocktails or a dry starter wine. And there was no savory/salty alternative for a traditional, non fruity/non-sweet cocktail. The staff member who brought courses placed them to the side of the table rather than in front of us and didn't remove the placeholder/course plate from the table, he also failed summarize the dish as it was set before us. Don't think the experience was worth charge.
Loved the modern take on Hungarian cuisine and attention to detail. Excellent!
Great food and environment. The staff was great as well. I thought the food was slightly overpriced but I would recommend for a date or special occasion.
Exceptional food, service, and wonderful atmosphere. Consistently cool crowd and exciting menu. Always love our visits to The Eddy!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I’m brining my clients here!
Excellent tasting menu and super wine list ! Bartender really kind. Very good experience !
Wonderful service! Food was solid
Best of staff an very attentive
We were visiting the city and the Eddy was convenient to our hotel. The room was simple with whitewashed walls and wood accents. As the room filled up the sound level increased, but never loud enough that it interupted or drowned out our conversation. The menu is varied, but the Langos, (hungarian fried dough with garlic, parmesan and honey) were a delightful starter. Heirloom tomato salad with shishito peppers was fresh and seasonal with a kick while the tagliatelle was a flavorful blend of parmesan, garlic scapes and egg. The mackerel was well prepared, but not our favorite. The service was delightful and we felt well taken care of.
A very charming restaurant with a delightful ambiance. The food is outstanding ! It is fresh, flavorful and offers a different twist to the usual variety. Highly recommend the lamb loin . The borscht and tomato salad were also excellent. The langos is a must:)
The staff were very professional and the Chef Extremely talented!
although main course selection is a bit small and could have been larger, the food was amazing. Service was professional AND courteous. Atmosphere is intimate and decibels... well, one can have a conversation with your date (and with other tables, as we did), without having to scream. Definitely a gem without too much fanfare.
