The food was very good if a little overpriced for what we had. The waiter only offered bottled water, either still or sparkling and it seemed standard tap wasn't an option so we chose a bottle of still. Only after that we saw a guy wandering around filling up glasses with iced tap water so we were a bit annoyed the waiter up sold us to a bottle. When our bottle was empty it was replaced without asking when we'd finished our meal so we did not drink it. I asked the second bottle to be removed from the bill and the waiter did but did not seem happy about and did not apologise. I would reccomend the food but not the service. They must be on commission for selling bottles of water.
Excellent menu options for restaurant week. Great value.
Our server Erin was so helpful and attentive. Her cocktail and appetizer suggestions made our meal even more delicious!
Service really sucks. Felt so rushed literally having plates taken away mid bite. Spent $465 on a 4 top and felt rushed every step of the way yet the server didn’t show up for 15 minutes at one point. Food is great but service and bussers kill it.
excellent rib eye steak for two, very good oysters, nice wine list. looking forward to coming back.
Americanized versions of other cuisines, with mixed results. On the whole, it is a good restaurant visit with nice service, with some reservation for a little well-enthusiastic selling waiter.
I’ve been a few times, menu underwhelming and staff always pretty lack luster and unwillingly to go that extra mile
Food was alright but definitely not worth the price tag.
Fun date spot for any age over 20
Restaurant week menu was great. We very much enjoyed the steak tartare and the shrimp cocktail with crab louie. We personally weren't expecting much from their main courses. Fish tacos and a roast chicken salad really don't sound like much, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how the dishes came out. The fish was tempura fried with pickled ginger and cabbage and yuzu sauce for dressing and topped with what appeared to be salmon roe. And the grilled chicken on the salad was tender and moist.
Service was great, both the waiter and greeter were polite and made themselves available constantly. No complaints at all.
Would definitely come back!
After all these years The Dutch is still firing on all cylinders. The duck, steak, and fried chicken were all spectacular.
The Dutch is my favorite place to dine I always get the Hot chicken and my wife gets the hanger steak anytime we are in NYC we always make a point to dine there we always sit in the bar and the bartenders are super friendly ...and very attentive to the “T”
I was vacationing with my 16 yr old daughter and went to Dutch’s because we saw it the day prior while shopping in Soho and it looked like a quaint corner spot to dine. Then on the way to the restaurant I noticed Yelp reviewers only gave it 3.5 stars. But this restaurant far exceeded my expectations and the Yelp rating. When we arrived I was promptly attended to by a bartender who made me a perfect bourbon Old Fashioned. I am from Kentucky where the Old Fashioned was “invented”, and this one was as good as any I have had. My daughter ordered the salmon with summer squash, and I ordered the heirloom tomato salad and steak tartare. We were both extremely pleased with our selections and the whole experience. Our waiter was friendly knowledgeable and attentive. We capped the dinner with strawberry pie and honey lavender ice cream - Delightful! The atmosphere on a summer night with the windows open was very pleasant. I highly recommend The Dutch.
Thank you for the attentive service. Surprised to receive the birthday dessert and Polaroid photo - it was a lovely touch. We had a great meal!
Poached eggs were delicious!!! I will definitely be back for more :).
A bit of attitude. Not really warranted.
We also noticed that they are offering tables on open table when they don’t have any. Most people are asked to wait at bar past reservation time. Food was fine. $17 margarita had tons of ice and glass was far from full. Wait staff very nice. Won’t be back soon.
Great place and excellent food! We have visited The Dutch twice and both time it was amazing. We have tried variety of food looking if there is any week spot of the restaurant. There is none. I would recommend the following appetizers: soft shell crab (if available), fish tacos (a must!) and little masterpiece fig on sunflower toast. The choice of main course is also fantastic. The light version of your dinner could be handmade taglierini with pecorino. Extremely delicious, well balance and a great obviously made at The Dutch. If you are ready for more food, try organic chicken, pecan duck or T-bone (with local sauce). In any case ask staff for advice, they are really good at it and helpful! And my special thanks go to sommelier for his recommendations! Summary: The Dutch is worth Transatlantic flight!
You forgot it was a birthday!😢
With the exception of a really obnoxious diner beside us (not the resturant's fault) everything was great! I was running late and they were very accommodating. The services was great as was the food!
Not so memorable or special. The waiter, while certainly professional, wasn't engaged whatsoever. The hostess, however, was quite kind and gracious.
The seating at The Dutch is very comfortable and the atmosphere is congenial. Our server was particularly helpful with my elderly guest - quipping him in just the right way and helping him with the menu, pointing out details that helped him make his choice.
Once you are in NYC, you have to visit The Dutch. Excellent dinning expierence. Fish tacos and pasta is a must! Trust advice of staff, they are really good at it.
Good service good food but not particularly inventive but this was what we were looking for since we did not know our guests taste.
The soft shell crab was amazing
The Dutch delivered! GREAT in every way-food, atmosphere, service!
Food was so creative and delicious!!
Very good and slightly overpriced for the quality.
Way too noisy by 7pm and only made worse by "energetic" music.
Excellent USA wine list (cool they show the AVA's) and a smart sommelier.
Never order wine by the glass. The pour was pointlessly stingy. When you spend $425 for dinner for 3 (inc. tip) you really shouldn't be short changed like this. Come on guys!
Striped bass, oyster sandwich, oysters, desserts all superb.
Fried chicken, a signature dish, for the first time not top notch - tasty but slightly dry, overcooked.
This was a go-to restaurant for us. Will return but not as often.
It was my first time at the Dutch - great meal (crab) and beautiful spot. It was pretty empty when we got there (it was 6:30) and was hopping when we left; we ate at the table but there is a big rectangle bar in the middle where you can eat too and will check that out next time.
Sunday brunch. Cool place ( but not that cool).
Nice place, busy and buzzing on the loud side for a quiet romantic dinner or family meal but food very good. New York prices but not crazy, a wine list around the 3-4X mark-up with a strong bias for US producers. Would definitely go again.
Were originally dining in Williamsburg but decided to stay in Manhattan. Were able to snag a last minute reservation. Hostesses were lovely - we were seated within 15 minutes (good because bar was packed). Service was great - never had an empty glass or messy table. Menu was terrific - something for everyone and it was all excellent.
The air conditioning was too cold.
We always go back!!!
Maybe we are just getting old and cranky, but really hard to enjoy a meal, no matter how good, when tables are packed 8” apart, and the noise level is so high.
Had a lovely dinner, however left credit card behind. They called me that evening to remind me of my loss (good). Went next day they did not have it but promised to call when they found it. Two days later no call (bad). So good dinner, poor management or level of care.
PS- turns out my phone message from them only registered Sunday night. So have to add then, their service was very very good, my phone message system bad. Enjoyed the meal, very much.
My fiance and I enjoyed a dinner at The Dutch for their special 4th of July menu. We ended up sharing the BBQ plate, and it was wonderful! Their sides were also wonderful. The staff was kind and the bathrooms were clean!
We were attracted by the Fourth of July menu combination and were not disappointed. We spanned three generations of food preferences and all were satisfied. The atmosphere was cheerful; service exceptional and personal. The wait staff found a way to appeal to each of us.
A totally enjoyable experience.
Always a fun place to dine. Love their special holiday menus.
Wonderful service and food in an interesting and well decorated space. Eclectic wine list. The signature menu item - fried chicken - is not to be missed.
