We went for breakfast. Delicious organic eggs worth the visit. I wasn’t thrilled to be seated in the back room as I prefer the front for the ambience and light. For those who take the time to make reservations would be nice to offer the front.
Food was good. Crowded and noisy. Young couple making out at the table next to us as if they have no where else to shack up. Drinks are low quality brands for whine and whisky and significantly overpriced. Not worth spending money on drinks here.
The eggs were so good. We ordered with salmon and it was a huge dish. We enjoy a lot in there.
Great spot for brunch or dinner but be sure to grab a reservation. Food and ambiance on point.
Everything was great except for the AC blasting on us in the middle of winter! Our waiter took care of it but 30 minutes later cold air started blasting again. Made us call it a night sooner than we would have normally.
Other than that we loved it.
My husband and I went there for my birthday and we loved it. The service was extraordinary, professional and efficient and food was outstanding. Loved our Waitress Katie. She's the best!
However, by the time we left the restaurant, it was brutally loud. Glad we went early. We will definitely go back (but on the early side).
Bravo to The Dutch!
We had a reservation for standard seating at 8:00 on a Tuesday night. We were seated at 8:35 in the bar area. It was crowded and cramped, but congratulations for attracting a full house on a “slow” night. Our server did a good job of getting us the best service she could provide. Appetizers (oysters and a wonderful ceviche) and pre-dinner cocktails arrived at the same time. Okay, it’s crowded! But the $139 Rib Eye for two was absolutely cold and raw in the middle. We sent back for more cooking, but the “thrill was gone”. We love the Dutch, but hope it does not be on a victim of it’s success.
Have been to The Dutch before and have enjoyed the food, service etc very much. This trip was the same for the service and setting but food was crushed with salt. I had the flank steak and my wife had the fried chicken. Both were disappointing, hoping it was a one time only deal. Note to kitchen, ease up on the salt!
Delicious burgers! Perfect fries!
Corporate approach to hospitality masquerading as cozy, authentic neighborhood place. Food is actually pretty good and servers probably want to be helpful but vibe gets in the way.
Always a great place to eat. Ive loved this location since it was the Cub Room
The Dutch never disappoints. The staff are terrific - from check in to coat check to server to wine steward and general management. They somehow keep a friendly customer focused vibe and make you feel special. Food is generally interesting and terrific.
We came in to celebrate our birthdays and I just can’t say enough about the way we were treated, the fantastic drinks and food and for an overall wonderful time. This is one of our favorite spots and we know several of the staff, but I never expected the Queen treatment. They have customers for life!
Won’t seat you until your party arrives... even when the restaurant is empty
Went for my partner’s birthday. Lovely cozy ambiance. Unbelievable steak tartare. Just quite pricy. Great service.
Oysters were not good at all. Very surprising
Absolutely LOVE this restaurant having now been twice and will make it a regular haunt-my only slight reservation is the noise level, especially in bar area, but I know that's something you can't do much about!
Both the food and the service were great. The server was very knowledgeable regarding the menu. We shared the calamari appetizer, the hot fried chicken, pumpkin agnolotti and the side of Brussel sprouts. I would recommend all of the dishes. The cocktail Smoking Jacket has to be one of my all time favorite drinks.
Delicious food but I left hungry. Small portions that are expensive. I am used to spending money and rarely complain about it but the portions were too small. Not sure if I would go back. Had to pay $4 extra for 2 slices of 7-grain bread and I was still hungry.
I was apprehensive about making this reservation after reading some of the sub-par reviews of late but happy I was not dissuaded from visiting The Dutch on a Saturday evening. We had never dined at The Dutch before and lucked out with a very last minute reservation at prime time. The restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside but the rooms are nicely broken up. We were seated in a two person (one chair, one booth) spot near the fire place which was great on a cold, wet night. The service was truly a standout (thank you, Christina) - extremely attentive and personable, which seems to be a rarity when 20% is expected from many NYC wait staff. The steak tartar and duck gnocchi were the standouts. The hot fried chicken was good, would likely try something else on the return visit. The tuna hamachi was a little bland, better options for that in the city. The cocktails were also very impressive!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Dutch. The service was impeccable, and we were seated right on time. While it was packed and a bit noisy, it wasn't too loud and made for a great date-night spot. I had the fried chicken, which was delicious. The farm salad was a bit lacking in flavor of any kind. The dressing was pretty watery and tasteless. Dessert was phenomenal--get the beignets!
Always a great experience. Cool bar for a before dinner drink. Friendly and attentive service. Delicious food.
We will be back!
Love this restaurant. Great food, excellent service, chic ambiance. Four stars due to their limited menu on gluten free options.
Great service, delicious food and wonderful cocktails
Service here is excellent. Everyone is attentive and treats you like you are their only customer when in fact the place is quite busy.
Had the Hot Fried Chicken. Loved it. The biscuits and cole slaw were excellent too.
My friend had to take several phone calls outside during our long meal (new baby left with the grandparents = lots of phone calls) and each time he had to run out, someone would come refold his napkin for him. Little things like that made us feel welcome and appreciated. That coupled with the great food, it’s a very good restaurant.
The Dutch is a fabulous dining experience!!
Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu - we went for some of his recommendations and liked everything . Good service, good food, and we loved the ambiance
Thought it was very overpriced
Overall, our New Years Day brunch was really great!!! Looking forward to next time!
Wonderful experience! Thank you!
Went for brunch on new years day. Had omelet, green juice, chia pudding - the best I've had. Service was great. Would definitely go back.
We had wonderful NYE dinner (first seating). Everything was delicious - appetizers were my favorites: Alaskan crab, Burrata on toast, lobster rice. I do not eat meat but my husband ordered prime rib and is still raving about it (2 days later), I had a sea bass which was great as well.
Excellent Sommelier and friendly staff! Food is always great, my favorites are the fried chicken and steak/kimchi fried rice
Loved the vibe, the food, the drinks, the service. Overall cool place. Downsides - food a tad overpriced, not a large menu.
Outstanding experience! Love the warren of cozy rooms which gave the restaurant a wonderful intimate feel... The service was warm, friendly and attentive. Consistent with the service and atmosphere, the food was fantastic. Thoughtfully designed dishes that were flavor rich without an ounce of pretentiousness.
I arrived at 5:20 for a 5:30 reservation for two. Although the restaurant was virtually empty (only 1 or 2 tables occupied) I was told to either wait on a small, uncomfortable bench or in the bar "area" until my "party" (one other) arrived. The bar area was very crowded and noisy and there were no seats available. My "party" arrived at 5:35 and we were shown to a table in a virtually empty dinning room that remained so during our entire meal. Understanding the problem restaurants face in tying up tables while the "party" is assembled, this was ridiculous under the circumstances and the imperious maitre D was oblivious to my discomfort level perched about 4 feet from her station . My "hot" fried chicken was overcooked, dry and at $33 not exactly a bargain. I won't be returning anytime soon!
Very nice restaurant. Originally they put us on a horrible table shoved in the corner, we asked to be moved and were moved to a very nice booth in another section. Lunch time menu very limited and it was expensive but the Lobster Roll was delicious. We enjoyed a nice quiet lunch with friends where the noise level was low and we could talk properly. I would recommend this restaurant but I'm not sure I would go again for lunch due to lack of choice.
My sister and I continue to enjoy getting together for lunch at the Dutch. The food is delicious, the service wonderful, the setting, lovely and the welcoming feeling, just right. AS long as we are all in NY we will look forward to being together, for lunch, at the Dutch.
Excelente comida, buen servicio
Muy recomendable para paladares
Everything was delicious! I had the duck, which was flavorful and tender. My companions had pasta dishes which they raved about. The service was excellent. We will return!
