Relaxed atmosphere, good menu and service. The food was excellent add usual.
Superb restaurant and bar, in rural setting, always very clean and welcoming. Not cheap though !
Limited menu, but it was a Sunday. Needs to decide if it is a pub, or restaurant. Waitress wore jeans.
We enjoyed our meal but found the pink beef a bit too pink and too thickly sliced. My husbands beef contained a large amount of fat which appearance wise was very off putting.
We were being treated by our expat son for our birthday weekend. From the moment we arrived to leaving the following morning we were dealt with in a totally professional high class way. The room was tremendous, with all excellent hotel touches. The evening meal was AMAZING. The quality of ingredients, the choices, and the presentation were second to none. The highlight was the dessert. A chocolate experience, bought out from the kitchen by the chef, with all elements described and combinations recommended. Nothing was too much trouble throughout. Highly recommended
Good food, good service, good venue. Menu not huge but sufficiently varied. Suits couples to small family groups.
Great food, great service
Lovely place for a birthday lunch
My partner even got a chocolate decorated plate that said happy birthday
Great food, really friendly staff.
Beautiful country pub great Sunday lunch had a table by the window in the conservatory staff very good a little mistake on the order but put right straight away well worth a visit
Great place that we use several times a year and have done for some time, it has always been hi end dining and so so enjoyable.
However, it is now starting to get extremely expensive! I’m left questioning the value (£150 for 2 people to have 2 courses with wine!)
A wonderful place to hold an informal meeting.
As my clients didn't drink too much, great food and reasonable price. - David
I could not fault the service, all of the team i came in contact with were extremely polite, the pub itself was very cosy.
Unfortunately both my friend and I made a decision to have a sandwich, big mistake. The description of the sandwich was acceptable but it was noted that it was accompanied by chips or fries I can not remember. OMG - can I advise you not to bother with the portions, in fact you really need to look at having this whole option on your menu. It was soo disappointing. The fries were like you would receive on a taster plate, talk about minimal. The sandwich was described as made with sourdough bread, again OMG that was one tough tiny sandwich. It was soo tough my friend left half of hers. This is not a dish for a male or a person with an appetite. Please do you and your customers a favour and relook at this, I left disappointed and hungry !
Fantastic as usual. We look forward to returning soon.
Always fabulous! We absolutely love coming. It’s like a family!
Incredible food as always. The deserts seem to get better and better, Michelin Star quality, presentation & flavours all the way!
A really enjoyable and memorable birthday lunch experience. Perfect atmosphere, gorgeous interiors & lovely staff to match the fantastic menu.
Lovely atmosphere, unhurried and attentive but not intrusive service.
Food was very good .
Excellent service from start to finish. Easy booking system.
We had a fantastic meal at the Duncombe Arms, we took our daughter who hasn’t been before so it was a real treat for her. Our starters were perfect and our main course delicious, what we really like is the way the food is presented , and portion size just right. We had desserts and they were gorgeous .
Great ambiance in the bar and restaurant, professional and attentive staff.
A fabulous time and a wonderful meal.
We shall return
This is our favourite place to dine! Reliably excellent and varied menu, always beautifully presented.
The quality of service is second to none. All staff are very polite and well dressed. Every detail was accounted for and we had a truly amazing experience. We have never had such great service before. The food was delicious too.
Beautiful gastro pub with top notch food, superbly presented.
Always a pleasure going to the Duncombe. Lots of lovely touches in the look, feel and service and the food is beautifully crafted. The extensive wine list has a huge variety but is getting a bit pricey. Even so, one of our favourite places and worth a round trip of well over an hour.
Always amazing and can never fault the service or food! Only thing I would say was that it was extremely smoky
Greeting and service was prompt, friendly yet professional and faultless. The staff were knowledgeable of the menu and happy to help. The food was great value for money and the ingredients were clearly of impecable quality. The haddock souffles were absolutely delicious! The apple tarte tatin, recommended by a friend, absolutely did not disappoint. Will highly recommend and cant wait to return in summer to enjoy the lovely outdoor space.
Came here for Sunday Dinner and thorough enjoyed my beef sirloin roast with Yorkshire pudding. Would definitely recommend!
We had a meal on Saturday evening which was excellent the choice was very good. With this in mind we booked for Sunday lunch as we had friends visiting. We found the menu to be very limited as I am a vegetarian there was literally one option.this was basically a plate of carrots, there was nothing served with it, a roast potato or two would not have gone amiss. It was extremely poor value for money. My husband does not eat meat but does eat fish, but the fish was served with chicken sauce. This was a very small piece of fish and came with a spoonful of greens. Having had a very good meal on the previous visit this was extremely disappointing.
Table for two last Saturday night. The service and food was fantastic as usual.
Will return soon.
Excellent food and service in a beautiful venue. Do no think you could better this.
Good food, good service, in a pleasant environment
Was our first visit, but will definitely return. Fantastic food in lovely setting, with excellent service😁...
Staff lacked a friendly personality. The food was ok for the price and I can see why it’s list it’s popularity
Excellent in every possible way. Accommodation way clean and comfortable and breakfast and evening meal was first class.
Wonderful food and service, one of the best places in the area.
Lovely atmosphere sat in the bar next to the fire for Sunday Lunch.
Had the sunday lunch menu and it was lovely. Plates were piled high with beef and couldn't fit in a dessert. Would recommend to ask for more gravy to be served as the yorkshire pudding was large.
Had Sunday roast, the beef was delicious rare just as we like it. Most of the veg very disappointing apart from the roast potatoes. The cauliflower cheese was awful really overcooked and a soft soggy mess. Lovely big Yorkshire pudding. Not worth the money, won’t be going back.
Lovely place to eat, steak was fantastic and tarte de Tatin incredibly nice
High class pub dining experience. Ambiance is outstanding and obviously a lot of thought was given to the renovation. The menu is interesting and the quality of good standard. Outstanding wine list with huge choice and generally acceptable prices. Would recommend the Duncombe Arms as well worth a visit.
OK food but poorly balanced meal - vegetables were extra. Not offered tap water. Attentive but predatory service. £120 for 2 is seriously expensive for what we had - 2 courses a la carte , 3 courses set meal , 4 glasses ordinary wine + 1 bottle water.
Lovely meal. I found the main meal a little too carb heavy with the large amount of mashed potato to accompany a very filling pastry pie and no veg. The pie was delicious though! Very good service and atmosphere.
