The Dubliner Ratings and Reviews
There was a lot of miscommunication with our server. When we asked for more water he said well that is the server assistant job. He was not personable. It was as if he knew he was receiving gratuity on our table so there was no need for great service. It was a disappointment. I would not recommend this restaurant for large parties. It seemed like a fun place to have a beer, watch sports, or grab a quick bite with a small group.
First visit before going to Sprint Center. We had a reservation and were led to a small table with a 'Reserved' sign on it. The table was a bar table as opposed to a dining table; an odd choice considering we had a reservation and they specifically put this table on hold. Ordered a beer and wine as soon as we met waiter, it took 25 minutes before they arrived. We had already finished our appetizer and water. The waiter said it was crowded and the bar was slammed; however the kitchen had no problem keeping up with orders. All beverages are served in large plastic cups similar to a Solo cup; not a great presentation for a glass of wine and I would think a 'pub' would be serving beer in frosted glasses or quality glass. I had the macaroni and cheese and it was very good. The service overall was poor, we never really saw our waiter. Not sure if we will return. They really need to invest in glassware, and save the plastic cups for outdoor dining only.
Food was good and the service was excellent. We were a little disappointed in the open table reservation process however. We were looking for a 5:30 reservation and the only option provided on Open Table was 3:30 or 3:45. We opted for the 3:45 figuring the restaurant would be filled. When we got there for our reservation ours was the only group seated at the tables. There were perhaps 6 other patrons in the whole restaurant/bar all of whom were sitting at the bar. The restaurant began to fill around 5:30 and was still not completely filled when we left at 6:15
I had the mac and cheese. Had no flavor and sauce was watery. When we asked for the drink menu, our waiter told us there wasnt one because there were no featured drinks that day. However, the main menu clearly states that there is a specialty drink menu. Later on we noticed another table receiving a drink menu upon request. Never received my side salad, but waiter did remove it from the bill. Overall, just sort if meh
I made a reservation on this app and when I got there they said they don't do reservations for people with group less than 8. My reservations was for 7. So I had to wait 35min at the bar until they got a table for us. The young blonde hair woman didn't apologize didn't give me updates on how long I would be sitting there. The waiter was good and our food came out fast. It doesn't make me want to go back.
The food was ok, but the service was terrible! It was clear that our waitress didn't think much of our group. When she dropped the food off at the table, she left so fast to get back to flirting with the men at the bar, she didn't bother to notice that she had forgotten my 5 year old's grilled cheese. She also didn't bother to refill drinks and dropped a knife on me. Moral of the story. If you're a forty something man, you'll get plenty of attention. Otherwise, don't bother. I would also add that the restaurant was nearly empty.
The hostess was surprised we had a reservation using Open Table and said it would be an additional 5-10 minutes after our reservation time before we would be seated. After ten minutes of seeing her write names down, we realized she never wrote our name down so we went back to the hostess who then wrote our name down at the end of the list and then proceed to seat everyone else before us. When she said we were ready to seat us we went to follow her, she looked surprised and said she was going to seat another couple first.
I've been to Irish pubs in many cities across the US and didn't find the Dubliner compared very well. The location is extremely convenient since it's directly across the street from the Sprint Center. Food was only so-so and more expensive that it should have been for the quality. I guess you are paying for the location. I probably wouldn't visit again or recommend unless specifically for their selection of Irish alcohol.
Something has changed. We enjoyed this restaurant on other occasions. Might be under new management. Very poor service. Food fair at best. They forget about the patron. We had to walk to the seating desk to get someone to give us the bill. Disorganization between waiter and server. Menu has changed and is now minimalist. Irish authenticity is gone. Overall bad.
We were seated at the table in front of restaurant. We were waited on by waiter and after food was ordered we did not see him for drink refills or to see how our food was. We had to find a different waiter in order for him to tell us when he thought our food would be ready, as it seemed to be taking a while.
In town for business and I was looking for a place for good food, beer and a place to watch Monday Night Football. The Dubliner delivered on all 3.
Staring from the soft pretzel appetizers to the bangers and mash for dinner, the food was outstanding.
The variety of beers available and the Guinness floats (definitely try the Thunder Cloud) was perfect for a night out.
First off our waitress was amazing. She was prompt and unfortunately had to deal with poor service from the kitchen. When you think of bar nachos you think of a nice platter of nachos with lots of melt cheese. You don't get that here. It's on an appetizer plate with a sprinkle of shredded cheese. A friend Ordered the "plump" chicken sandwich and under the bun there was a boneless skinless chicken finger. Sent it back and the manager comped it but seriously how did it make it to the table. Food wise this place needs to step up its game.
The food was very mediocre, but I didn't order Irish food because it was 100 degrees and hearty stews didn't sound very good. The service was a little slow but fine. The beer was so cheap and I can't figure out why but a Guinness was less than $3.00. It might have been happy hour. Anyway, it was great to have a place to go before a concert at the Sprint Center and be able to get a reservation. Would go back and maybe order better next time.
Not a lot went right during our visit to the Dubliner. When we sat down, a table flyer said to ask for a drink menu to see cocktails, etc. We asked our server and he said "we don't have one". Speaking of the server, it would have been nice if he came by more often than every 15 minutes.
The advertised "Kansas City's Best Corned Beef & Cabbage" was certainly not that. The corned beef was certainly not tender but more chewy and tough. The potatoes were not completely cooked. The other items we ordered, Shepherds Pie and Bangers & Mash were average at best.
To top it off, I get a message from Open Table the next day that the restaurant had "cancelled my reservation" so I would not get any points credited.
It is doubtful that I will return.
The food was outstanding. My wife said that the salad she got was the best she's ever had. The service was really good too. I wish I would have gotten our waiters name so I could give him full credit. He did a great job. We plan on making this a regular stop on our way to the Sprint Center.
Took what seemed like forever to get our drinks. When they finally came we then ordered appetizers which never came but after our main meal someone came out and brought our appetizers. really? I had to get up and find my waiter to find out what was taking so long a few times. The meal was just barely edible. Mostly a bowl of French fries with 3 small strips of fried fish on top. Will never go again. Lots of better places to eat.
We went out of our way to make reservations at the Dubliner for 3 couples at 5PM before an event at the Sprint Center. We were able to be seated on time, but the service was slow. We had friends who didn't have a reservation who waited 45 minutes, were seated, ate and left before we even received our food!
I'm pretty sure our waiter forgot to put in our order because the two people who joined our table and ordered after us received their food in a timely manner. Then once the food started coming out about an hour-ish after we were seated, salads and food came at the same time.
My friend and I shared the Irish stew which was barely enough food for one person, and some of the people in our party didn't get their food until 15 or so minutes after we did. Some of the food wasn't even warm. But the time the horrible experience was over, we were nearly late to our event which didn't start until 7PM!
I will not be going back to the Dubliner for dinner. It's fine for drinks, not for food.
We had reserved a table. Upon showing up at our reserved table time, there were no tables available. We were lucky and a table was made available outside. But, if we had chosen to stay indoors, we would have had to wait for a table. Why even make a reservation if it s not honored ?
I made an online reservation. And in the comment area I stated I would prefer patio seating. A few days prior to my reservation I called to confirm and I was informed the date I reserved, they are overbooked for the patio, but they still encouraged me to come in. Day of I went to The Dubliner and was sort of worried they wouldn't be able to accommodate my request. I checked in and was pleasantly surprised my table on the patio was ready, with my name on it. That day was very packed because of a free outdoor concert. But my server was great, food was good, The apple cake they have is excellent. I would go back.
