The Drapers Arms
Very much a pub we are as welcoming to one person sitting with a beer and a paper as to a group having a special meal. In an informal and relaxing atmosphere we nonetheless take our food, drink and service seriously. Well chosen and carefully tended ales (Harveys Sussex and two on rotation) and wines (18 available by the glass) add to a range of authentic lagers, spirits and soft drinks.
Our food is all freshly prepared and our menu changes every day and across the seasons. With a focus on being enjoyable, honest and seasonal we are also affordable - we were very pleased in our first year to receive a 'Bib Gourmand' by Michelin for 'Good food at affordable prices'.
Our upstairs dining room can accommodate weddings, christenings and parties and is among the finest private hire options in London.

Food was fantastic, but it was packed and we were nearly half an hour late being seated because they couldn’t move a group of drinkers who had swamped our table. In the mean time there was between 0 and 1 person behind the bar so getting a drink was impossible. And the acoustics are dreadful downstairs so we having a conversation over dinner basically involves shouting!
Shame, it’s a lovely pub and the food is great but not somewhere I’d rush back to for a relaxing night out!
Amazing food, really chilled, friendly service, and great house red wine 😍
Really good quality food and the staff are so quick and friendly. It was £16 for a pie with no sides which is a bit steep and they don’t mention it so be sure to order some sides if you’re expecting a whole meal. Lovely pie though. Really nice atmosphere and very friendly. Quite noisy if you were with older people it might be a problem.
Good hearty food with interesting drink menu
Loved it. Magnificent meal and our waitress was a legend, recommended a nice Italian red and she didn’t stop running around. (The girl with the tattoos)
We booked a table at 12.30pm on a Saturday lunchtime. The table was ready when we arrived at 12.15pm and they were aware that we had 2 kids with us (aged 3 and 10 months). We ordered 2 adult main courses and two vegetable side dishes and were told it would be a 32 minute wait which we agreed to. At 45 minutes we spoke to our server who said it was going to be another 5 minutes. At an hour we were told they were plating up. At 1 hour 15 minutes there was still no sign of our food and we had to leave without having eaten - so hungry kids and adults. We were the first table to order downstairs in the restaurant and we cannot understand why we had to wait so long for such a small order and ultimately leave the pub having not eaten. The meal was booked as a special treat and the lack of service and a meal completely spoiled our day.
Evening meal out with friends. The service was friendly and we felt well looked after. The food was generally excellent, but we were disappointed by the puddings. (Greengage Plum tart which didn’t have much flavour and creme caramel which also seemed a bit ordinary). It was also very hot inside the pub although we did open the door to the garden it was difficult balance to get the temperature right. Generally though these are minor points on an otherwise enjoyable night but gives an idea why it wasn’t 5 stars across the board
Excellent! Good honest fare. Cheerful courteous staff, good food, well cooked and well served.
We were 2 next to a table of 20 who around and chatted. Perhaps the restaurant should have arranged tables differently as items were knocked on our table several times.
Very quiet on a Monday ....menu of quality...service of style...an asset to the area.
Overpriced and only one vegetarian option which was poor
Insanely loud for a small pub, I booked it for a small dinner with family friends and we couldn't hear each other at all. We asked the waiters if they had a quieter table possibly and were seated right in the middle of the room. It was truly a shame, it was a cozy space and the food was good but impossible to have a conversation. Probably not going back, there are other options nearby with similar food/price and better ambience
Food was very good and the venue was lovely. Service was rather slow however it was Saturday night
Drapers Arms is one of my absolute favourite gastropubs. The food did not disappoint. However, the noise on this particular evening was out of control. I thought a 6:30 PM booking on a Saturday would mean missing peak noise, however, a birthday party (including lots of shouting) had gotten underway early and they were having a great time. Not the pub's fault, but it meant that we could not hear one another well enough to have a conversation over dinner and so skipped dessert to just escape the noise. Have not had this happen before in the many many times I have been there, but my least enjoyed experience to date.
Disappointing food and service. Very limited vegetarian choice. Steak to share was good, other choices were below expectations.
We had one of the best Sunday lunches that we have had at a pub in a long time. The roast lamb was delicious, as were the roast potatoes and greens. The very extensive wine list meant that we could find the perfect wine match as well. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. it is no wonder that this place gets booked up on most Sundays, but it is definitely worth the effort of getting organised and booking a table in advance.
Unfortunately what I wanted for main course was not available and it wasn’t too late in the evening. However it was the very high level of noise in the room that really marred the evening.
Wonderful as ever. Great staff and relaxed but attentive service. Food worth breaking the good behaviour for.
The Drapers always delivers. Damn good food, whether you’re with mates for boozy one or taking your folks for a roast it’s hard to beat. Thanks again
One of my favourite places for a Sunday roast in North London - the big sharing roast dinners are the best!
The menu was varied and offered a wide range of dishes all of which were not your average fare.
Food when it arrived was piping hot and delicious.
Staff were very attentive and helpful in all aspects from choosing a dish to selecting a wine.
Atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a casual lunch.
Would definitely return
Outstanding service from all bar and restaurant staff, great interpersonal skills too! - a great team.
Sunday roasts were really lovely, we had the pork loin and the lamb -both cooked perfectly - well worth the price.
Tiny criticism - The creme caramel is hugely overpriced at £8 - it’s nice but no different from that bought at any high street supermarket.
Overall a fantastic experience and we will definitely be returning on a regular basis.
Thank you to the wonderful staff
Beautiful rib of beef for two, friendly staff, and a nice beer garden at the back.
Since last visit menu simpler and cleverly priced.
Very pleasant to sit in the garden and share three starters.
The Sicilian white by the glass delightful.
Charmingly served by our attentive member of staff.
Will come again later this month.Thank you.
£8 for 5 half of mini fried artichoke and rocket
£8 for 12 pieces of beetroot, 5 bits of goats cheese and watercress
Both are a joke did that price
£9.5 for 4 mini bits of squid with chorizo and beans seems a little pushy too
Overall quiet dissatisfied.
Service was soulless and didn’t try to get us drinks
Excellent cooking. We would have appreciated being able to book a table in the garden.
Such a great place !!
Very cool wine list - must see
Lovely pub has a really great feel. Would recommend.
its a great room, and the staff immediately make you feel like you've come to their place! i had clams and the lamb, and both were outstanding. definitely restaurant quality, albeit at restaurant prices.
Food was good, able to sit in garden in the sunshine
Took really long to get our roasts. They had said 20 mins after the starters was cleared but it was close to 50 mins. Also, the waiter claimed to be an expert on wines (said he had done a wine tasting earlier before the restaurant opened that day) but the suggestions he gave was completely off (i.e. he said a fruity and light red was very heavy and dry).
We love The Drapers. It’s just of the grid, so it’s rarely packed. The food is great. The ambience is fantastic. The staff are great. So is the wine list. Good people watching too. We often bring friend who are visiting so they can experience a lovely little slice of London life.
Standard excellence from the Drapers Arms... it is like that old jumper that you always put on in the knowledge it’s comfy and toasty warm... dependable! More than I can say for a lot of the questionable restaurants / ‘gastro pubs’ around at the moment...
Fantastic meal again at the Drapers Arms! They were very accommodating of us eating outside and of our 7 year old daughter!
The food was very salty, otherwise a lovely spot! Have always enjoyed the drapers arms
Beautiful pub and delicious food, but a little too noisy.
Great food, service and atmosphere but we were moved on after a few hours despite being told this wouldn’t happen at time of booking.
Always good food at the Drapers Arms, plus excellent, v friendly service on this last visit.
Yummy food and fantastic service. Quite noisy in upstairs room with big tables near us
