The dorrance is beautiful, best way to describe its interrior. I went with my parents and boyfriend. The food was very unique, I ordered the burger and had to send it back twice due to it being undercooked. Regardless, the staff was very polite and helpful and continued to make the experience a lovely one. An owner was sitting by our table as well and was extremely attentive, and really made our table feel appreciated. The burger was quite good after the end result, and its noted that my fathers risotto was exquisite.
I have never had such great attention as this restaurant, although the food may not be as great as the decor, ambiance, and authenticity of the place, the owner really went out of her way to ensure it was a well worth evening.
Was amazing! The atmosphere in an old bank building is phenomenal! Great food & impeccable service. Would definitely go again when we’re in town!
Excellent cocktails, attentive and helpful server, even though he was stretched.
Exceptional food and service. Great cocktails paired with our meal at the recommendation of the restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere with live music that was not too loud. Can't wait to go back!!
One of my dear friends and I went to The Dorrance in celebration of restaurant week and it did not disappoint! The portions were more than enough, the flavors were delicious, and all of the wait staff and staff were accommodating and lovely. I would definitely return!
We went to Providence Restaurant week at The Dorrance. The server was great. The food was awesome. We had been disappointed with an earlier restaurant week choice. The tastes the chef sent out were amazing. We will go back for sure.
We loved our entire experience at The Dorrance last week. My wife and I plan to become regular patrons!
The waitstaff and the ambiance make this place. The drinks are amazing, and the food is good, but really we went for the ambiance anyway.
Everything excellent, except tiny portions (while I understand Fine dining doesn’t mean quantity). Thus, overall value, despite Restaurant week, was diminished.
Our waiter was excellent.
Reward staff for hard work dinner.....
I never give ratings, but this restaurant deserved a five star. The service and food were excellent. The chef even sent a special dessert to the table! Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, and impeccable service!
Restaurant staff called to confirm our reservation the day of. The restaurant interior is beautiful and well lit. The food was delicious (from both the restaurant week menu and regular menu) and environment was comfortable. Their drink selection is vast. Cocktails were impeccable. Service was timely and the restaurant was very accommodating. Overall a positive experience. Thank you for having us!
The service was excellent, the food was even better! Definitely will return.
The ambiance was wonderful. Great upbeat vibe and the inside was beautiful. However it was frustrating that they seemed to be out of everything we wanted. Also the sirloin was not as good as expected. The drinks however were very good. Overall it was a fun date night but a little overpriced for the amount of food you get and the lack of selection.
Excellent service, excellent dinners, outstanding dessert.
This restaurant is a favorite of mine. It is a go to for special occasions. The food, service and ambiance are amazing every time. They pay special attention to detail - the service is outstanding. We had several appetizers to start - the hummus, oysters and calamari, all delicious. I highly, highly recommend the lobster tortellini as well. It's mouth watering! And there is a great portion of lobster in the dish. This restaurant is a must try!
The ambiance was to die for. We LOVED our drinks and the food was amazing. I loved the complimentary mini appetizer and dessert. We will definitely be back.
I have been trying to get there for three years. It was worth the drive from Boston! Great service, fabulous food, gorgeous setting, and that ceiling! They knew it was a reunion for my family and they sent out surprises through our meal and complimentary prosceco which added to our experience! Can’t wait to return!
One of the finest restaurants in Providence. The chef was very creative and the presentations were fantastic. Each ingredient was carefully matched with other ingredients and their cocktails are top drawer.
My wife and I enjoyed our meal and drinks at The Dorrance. The food was fresh, not overly seasoned (you could taste everything), the service great and the cocktails were very nice. No room for dessert, unfortunately.
Great good, great service, great decor, great drinks. what more could you want?
I've been meaning to make it to The Dorrance for a while and a friend's birthday came up, making it the perfect occasion. It is such a beautiful location and the food was phenomenal. My friend and I both had the Filet Mignon and boy was it worth it. The portion was perfect too. Our cocktails we're so delicious and creative. There is definitely something for everyone. The wait staff were friendly, helpful and just wonderful al around. Can't wait to go back!
Jim, our waiter was fabulous
Absolutely beautiful building. However, we were there to dine not just look.
The food prices were of course reflective of the style and beauty of the building. charging for bread for the table?? Why would there be a charge for bread when four full dinners and four appetizers, cocktails and wine are involved? Ridiculous bill padding.
No salt or pepper were offered and the food was severely unseasoned. ( no I’m not a salt lover)
The Caesar salad was bland and watery. The tornadoes of beef were flavorless. The lobster tortelloni was cold.
The service was fine, and so was the food. I had to laugh when they brought out an "amuse bouche" made of salmon, but I am a vegetarian. Perhaps they should consider that in the future.
The Dorrance is set in a former Federal Resrve bank with the actual bank vault preserved in the back corner. The floor are marble, the interior early 19th century and ornate with big beautiful picture windows over looking Dorrance Street. The food is excellent with award winning cocktails.
The venue is absolutely stunning!!!!! The food was delicious!
Disappointed with lack of lobster in pappardelle dish which was otherwise extremely good.
Lindsay the manager made our celebration dinner special as well as our server ! It's a beautiful restaurant that I recommend for special occasions! From the valet to the server to the runner & up to management everyone was AMAZING! Kudos to the Chef excellent food Thank you !
They charge for bread; suspect that lobster in the pasta dish was frozen. Fried capers in Caesar Salad left bitter aftertaste. Very mediocre overall.
The service was really great...my date and I arrived almost 30 minutes late for our reservation but the hostess was extremely friendly and immediately sat us at an amazing table. Our waiter was also very friendly and knowledgeable when asked to help pick out wine.
Great food, good drinks, excellent dessert. We got oysters, scallops and a filet mignon. All were delicious. We had a martini served very heavy on the vermouth, when we notified the waitress, she quickly had the drink remade. Great service.
Great cocktail bar, good wines by the glass and bottle, service was exceptional and bar scene was excellent. I would go back again so I could spend a little more time and check out other drinks and foods.
Excellent! Felt a little rushed to order dinner from the waiter....he indicated it would be a longer wait to eat if we didn’t order right away. That was really the only negative. Everything else was perfect !
Very slow service and kitchen. We sat at our table at 7pm, we ordered around 7:15pm, we did not get our meals until after 8:40pm. Very disappointed.
Food is good, but the kitchen needs improvement on their delivery of meals.
I don't think the food was worth the price. It was standard fair and not very creative. Our server was attentive. It was too loud to even have a conversation.
The Dorrance probably does the best drinks in Providence. The service is wonderful, the decor is beautiful, and the food is great. Portions might be a bit on the small side. Otherwise, outstanding all around.
Service and food was good. The back of my wife’s booth was broken with a 3” gap. They should repair this soon
Very nice find! The building used to be a bank so it is very spacious and the décor is wonderful. Try the artisan breads....fabulous. Meals are very creative and it was well worth the money. Nice wine list, too.
