The Dorrance Ratings and Reviews
The food and ambiance were excellent.....this may be my new favorite restaurant. You could make this a special occasion or simply pull up a seat at the bar. I feel like it's difficult to find a place with a good bar and cocktails, but The Dorrance has it. We'll definitely be returning!
We were on a two-night stay in Warwick and dined at The Dorrance for the first time. What a beautiful space--a re-purposed classic bank with an amazing large bar. We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail and were not disappointed. The bartenders are a treat to watch. True artisans and professionals. We both had the Bardstown 94. We were seated immediately when we were ready, served promptly and served quietly throughout the meal. The food was excellent (scallops for my wife and a swordfish special for me). Also, the valet parking is a terrific plus. Easy to use.
Where do I start? We love the Dorrance. This time we shared our love for the Dorrance with another couple. They left very impressed. The mixologists were on point and the food was excellent. Service, doesn't compare! This is quickly becoming our go to restaurant!
Drink menu is good. They have a cucumber drink which I very much enjoyed. The decor and feel of restaurant is cool and has a fun vibe. Both my friend and I LIKED our food but I feel like I'd choose other places in Providence for dinner any time. I'd certainly go back again with group for a night cap and place to sit at the bar but probably not for a dinner for any special occasion.
Perfect choice for a relative's 85th birthday. Noise level and lighting were a great match for her. All the staff were so accommodating of her. The birthday girl enjoyed the royal treatment (thanks to our waitress, Nina.). Drinks and food choices and quality far exceeded all our expectations.
The Dorrance has evolved into one of the very best restaurants in Providence. The owners are present and engaged in making the restaurant a total dining experience. Every detail is thought through to make the Dorrance both fun and exceptional when it comes to the menu choices. The staff is well trained and very pleasant. The staff likes their work and get better with every visit. The bar tenders are artists. Their artisanal cocktails are always something to look forward to, and the menu options are fantastic. Don't miss the baked Alaska for dessert.
Went last night for Restaurant Week, drinks were good and the steak entree we both had was very good (flavorful with a nice crust to the steak, even though the portion was small) but the appetizers were NOT great (fig toast and stone fruit "salad") and the desserts were also not very tasty (my chocolate cake was better than the terrible cobbler - cobbler shouldn't be bitter!) Surprisingly, the samples of the gazpacho and the sugar cookies with lime custard we received on the house were DELICIOUS.
I think the appetizers and dessert failed from trying to be too "unique". The fig toast would have been miles better if it had Brie instead of the very sharp cheese it had instead. But Brie is probably too mainstream...also the plating of the fruit salad and the entrees was bizarre, way too much empty plate that only emphasized how minuscule the portions were.
Fun and different experience for Restaurant Week, but I will probably not be returning except for drinks or the gazpacho and cookies.
Was so excited to go to The Dorrance for the first time and booked a table for two for our anniversary. The atmosphere is impeccable. The service was spot on and friendly. The menu was extravagant and well priced. From the amuse-bouche through to dessert we were overwhelmed with the decadence of the dishes and the attentiveness of the waitstaff. All-in-all, incredible experience!
First and last time at the dorrance. Food was average at best and very overpriced. Service was average. There were 6 in our party with a $450 bill I was definitely expecting better tasting food and higher quality service. With all the great restaurants in Providence, I'd skip the dorrance.
My wife and I dined there last Friday for the very first time. As soon as we arrived thru the main entrance, we were greeted as if they knew us. The hostess even read my "special request" on my Open Table reservation and... it was the most romantic table in the restaurant (Thank you!). That said our server, Brian, was great and the food outstanding. We already told our friends and some of them have already been there. They too spoke highly of it. Also, my wife said the Bartender knows how to make a drink...lol.

Ambiance & value low levels were awarded due to the restaurant hosting an excessively noisy event in the bar area which rendered normal conversation among the 4 of us diners essentially impossible.
We were seated as far from the special networking event as possible, but there is no getting away from the noise from such an event in this restaurant.
The food while very good quality was minimally portioned for the price charged.
A $300 charge for 4 people in a restaurant where we were unable to share conversation at our table is totally unacceptable. While we have used this facility for special dining occasions in the past, we will not be returning after experiencing this disaster.
We believe that when making reservations, we should be told if there is a large special event being held the night of the reservation. The restaurant did call that day to confirm our reservation , but failed to mention that we would be having "competition" that evening.
