The Dogwood Ratings and Reviews
This is our favorite Friday night date spot. We usually have pizzas at the bar, but this time we decided to try food other than pizza and sit at a table. Our first table, one of the high tops, was next to the loudest group of people screaming and we weren’t able to hear each other speak from across the table. Thankfully the hostess was kind enough to move us into the dining room. Our server was attentive but when my food came out cold, he brought it into the kitchen to be heated up and it didn’t come back out. By the time my boyfriend was almost through with his meal, I had to track down another server to ask them to cancel my meal altogether. The manager then brought out my meal and nicely offered to take it off the bill. We really appreciate that they helped in that way, but we were bummed to eat separately on our date night. We love this place, but we’ll definitely remember to stick to the bar in the future.
Unfortunately the A/C was broken and it was an incredibly hot and humid evening, however the staff was upbeat and made what could have been a really bad situation into a good one. Food was delicious and the staff were incredible friendly and courteous considering how uncomfortable and hot they must have been.
We made a reservation in advance for 12 people, but ultimately only 9 could make it. Since a few of us ran the BAA half marathon, we were later than expected and called to extend our reservation. The staff was extremely accommodating for such a large group with all of our changes, which I find to be very rare. When we arrived, they had our table waiting for us in a lovely private corner. The staff were very friendly, the service was fast, and the food was great. I would recommend brunch here for anyone, especially if you have a larger sized group and want to make a reservation. The dogwood is awesome!
The Dogwood is about 17 min walk to Eliot Hall where we went to see a play. I got the buffalo cauliflower and kale&corn dmplings which were good. The veggie burger was ok per a vegetarian. The pasta with meat sauce was decent . It looks like they make their own pasta which is the size of lasagne noodles. Our water was never refilled. The restaurant was very busy.
I'm a regular at the Dogwood. That being said, I usually can find something on the menu I haven't tried yet. On this visit, it was the grilled salmon with lemon-caper sauce, parmesan risotto and zoodles. Loved it! It was HUGE, so I got two dinners out of it. This is one of my and my boyfriend's favorite places to eat (pretty much our #1 favorite). Julie has waited on us more than once on a busy Friday or Saturday night and is always excellent.
Went for brunch and had the Mexican style breakfast pizza and it was amazing! Love the decor of this place. Definitely suggest making a reservation for brunch. My friend ordered a drink that was WAY too strong to drink but the waitress was extremely understanding and took the drink off the bill. Overall, awesome place, definitely will be going back.
We made a reservation on the fly for a group of 6, a little over a half hour in advance. The reservation time was available and we received confirmation. When we arrived at the appointed time, I was told that they would not honor the reservation as it had not been made one hour in advance. Fortunately, the common table in the bar area was open. Not sure why you can book a time that the restaurant is not prepared to honor....otherwise we love the Dogwood.
We love the Dogwood. It's our neighborhood go-to-spot. Consistently good food and good service. Staff are friendly and helpful and management is on site and responsive to concerns.
It's fun and lively and draws a diverse crowd. The menu has many options: the brick oven pizzas are great, they make a great burger and the main dishes are varied in price and type. They also have nightly specials.
Great place for lunch really nice lunch menu. I like to go in for dinner sometime. Couple of TVs going if you choose to go in by yourself for a quick bite. Certainly quiet enough where you could have friendly or work discussions. Definitely recommend this spot!
Food (calamari, pizza, fish/chips, cod sandwich and beer salad) ambiance and drinks were spot on for our family of four (12 and 10yo). Felt like a funky hip place that was still appropriate for kids! Our reservation was messed up and the hostess proceeded to tell us we couldn't be seated but once the manager was involved, we waited about twenty mins for our table--which was acceptable for a busy Saturday night. Will go back!
It was very hard to carry on a conversation - we were seated right near the back wall which was adjacent to the dish station and kitchen. The waitstaff were banging dishes really loudly at the station - - this was constant which made conversation a challenge. The waitress was okay. The food was great, but the disruptive atmosphere was unfortunate.
