The Dog & Cask Ratings and Reviews
Have been there several times and the food is always good. Although good, the service is always slow, even when there aren't a lot of people in the restaurant. Don't mind low lighting for dinner, but went there for brunch and it was quite dark - would have preferred a little more light.
Much nicer than we expected. Lively bar scene on a Thursday night, but dining room was relatively empty. Comfortable interior, especially the little nook area by the fireplace, but the entire restaurant felt cold. My wife and I had hot sandwiches and craft beers. Very good. Service also was very good. Worth a visit.
Waiter was new and a little confused .
Appetizers were ok,but before we finished them, the entrees came out!
Not only did they confuse who wanted their burger cooked a certain way,the side fries were wrong and cold!
By the time they brought new French fries and sweet potato fries,we were almost finished eating.
They never cleared the dishes before bringing coffee and dessert.
It was a quiet Sunday,so we can’t imagine how it would be in a busy night.
Good food, but not sure if we’d return.
I went here with my boyfriend on New Year’s Eve. When we walked in there was no one at the front host area. We stood there waiting for a while. I had a reservation but they for some reason made it seem like I didn’t. Even though they called me the night before to confirm. As soon as the manager came up to us, we were told right away that we have to leave by 10pm, which is not how you greet people at a restaurant. I ordered a salad, and got maybe 7 pieces of lettuce scattered on a plate with some sliced tomatoes and cheese on the side. It was a $17 salad so I expected an entree salad, but it looked like an appetizer, if that. I was with my boyfriend, but the bus boy still felt it okay to constantly check me out which made me very annoyed. Not professional at all.
Everything was great. The hummus was very tasty as was the crispy shrimp appetizer. For our main courses, we had the chicken sandwich, roast chicken, and pastrami short ribs: all nicely done as well. Save room for dessert: especially the apple cake and bread pudding. Compliments to Chef Justin. Service was gracious and relaxed as was the atmosphere too.
The owner is exceptionally down to earth and a pleasure to talk with ALWAYS. Food is consistent and on point. Great drinks. If you like seafood and a little spicy, the Octopus app is killer. The Sriracha Salmon appetizer is executed well too and the Salmon entree is on point. The pastrami short rib is not only unique but also a fantastic dish & one of the best I have ever had (7 times now). There is something for everyone on the menu. Enjoy!!! ~ Todd
We had a great time at Dog and Cask. We were seated in a very comfortable area and were immediately met by our friendly and knowledgeable server who remained attentive through our whole meal. Food was creative and delicious and we enjoyed the entire evening.
Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I celebrated my birthday with a group of friends and had a great time. For only $25 per person, the brunch is a great value and a must. Everyone loved the crunchy french toast, it was definitely a hit. There was a lot to choose from, from salads and antipasti to an omelette station and an ice cream bar for dessert. I will definitely be back!
Disappointing. Surprising lack of taste. Chicken wings are breaded and fried and served with what appears to be bottled sauces on the side. They tasted like the breading didn't even have salt-and-pepper added; same goes for the burger meat. Not kid friendly. Waited 10 minutes for high chair, no kids menus or changing table.
Myself and a friend both ordered hamburgers. Both were ordered to be cooked and medium and both came out rare pink and juicy throughout. Assistant manager also decides to tell me that I ate to much of it when I ate half and realized it was still raw through the middle. Customer service was terrible and I will never be returning. Also will never suggest it to anyone I know.
The food and service were excellent. However, when I make a reservation I expect to be seated at a table in the dining area, not at a high top table in the bar area. They did accommodate our request. The pre-printed beer and specials menu had blank lines running the length of the paper making it difficult to read and even harder to read in very dim lighting. Even the waitress had difficulty reading the specials, which she should have had memorized.
Food took 40 minutes to come out - nothing fancy- burger, steak sandwich and salad. Server apologized multiple times and reason was because there was a party going on and kitchen was backed up. Manager took our drinks off the bill. Food was good when it finally came out.
They need a kids menu of some sort, its not hard to make chicken fingers, not all kids eat pasta, that they charge $12 for (plain in red sauce) and they have NO changing table! The service was actually SO slow the night we went, I've been before & its never that bad, we had to keep reminding them for stuff also, the restaurant was mostly empty too, so no excuse for that. Also I noted in my reservation about a highchair and a birthay and neither were considered.
I've had good experiences at this venue before, so I thought I'd give making a birthday reservation a try. Nobody told me that on Mother's Day, Dog & Cask closes early. I booked my reservation for 6:30 Sunday on a Thursday, so there was PLENTY of time for the management to inform me that the kitchen would be closing early. Instead, (on the day of) my party was ready to order food our waitress told us the kitchen was closing soon and we were basically getting last-called(drinks/limited food). I was very disappointed because I went through a lot of trouble to get this group together. It was such a quick turn-around that I didn't really get to enjoy my experience and feel comfortable.
We took the family here for Mothers Day. They offered a buffet, which was very good. The food was all warm and changed frequently, everything was tasty. The wait stuff was on point clearing plates and running drinks. On such a busy day of the year, they managed to keep everything going smoothly. Very impressed
We booked the Sunday brunch for Mother's Day and we were glad we did. We had a large group of 12 people and the buffet was perfect for everyone's taste. Service was very good and the food was very good for a buffet. We will be back to try it with just two of us next time.
Came for a Sunday brunch on a recommendation from a friend. It was great! Food was there spins on typical brunch fare, and it was delicious. Smoked salmon, pinko encrusted French toast, omelette station... it was very good. Some great craft brews on tap as well. Definitely will return.
I've only been there for Brunch, but it's fantastic. The price is extremely good if you ask me- all you can eat for $24.95 with tons of options including breakfast and lunch. It includes 1 brunch drink (mimosa, bloody mary) and a dessert bar/chocolate fountain!
Went for dinner with my wife. Had a reservation and got seated right away. Waitress came over took our drink order but took a while to get. When she brought our drinks we ordered dinner. Just got burgers but took 45 minutes to get them. Service is very slow and non attentive. 4th time here and was only good once. Will not be back.
Dog & Cask has a very nice atmosphere in the bar area and offers a very nice private room for small parties. A nice place for a casual night out or to watch a game with many tvs in the bar area. No one in our party of 6 complained about any of the food nor was anyone thrilled about it either. One person had the French Onion soup and it was luke warm. Service was adequate although nothing memorable however the server was friendly. Would probably return but will not be at the top of our list next time.
