The Dock Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I decided to dine at The Dock recently based on its exemplary on-line reviews. Am I glad we listened to my fellow cyberspace food critics. Upon our arrival, we were somewhat surprised by the simplistic, nonchalant entrance to what has been hailed as "one of Newport Beach's best." No valet, no fancy gas lamps or topiaries. Just street parking and a perfectly nondescript front door. Our surprise soon turned to joy, however, after being escorted through the diminutive space to a cozy table by the water. The well-placed infrared heater kept us comfortable throughout the evening. The interior space of the restaurant is intimate and relaxing. A perfect spot for a romantic evening or quiet conversation. The wine list is impressive (though many of their offerings are on the pricy side). We started out with potato leak soup and Brussel sprout leaf salad. Both were excellent. My wife's scallops were perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed the market fish selection (sea bass). We finished the night with banana bread pudding, which was good but not great. The service was impeccable. If you're looking for a quiet night (or day) and a fantastic dining experience, I suggest you give The Dock a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
The Dock is literally on a boat dock looking out into a boat channel. The food is really really good. The staff are obviously empowered , friendly, and care about the experience, as if they were owners. Even the background music is carefully curated and spot on for the venue.
The Dock offers a unique dining experience especially if your arrival is by boat. This beautiful intimate restaurant offers a varied menu - with the notable desert selection from banana bread pudding with caramel to a handmade chocolate ganache. The wine selection is spectacular too!
We keep bringing new friends to the dock. Everytime they are blown away. Our last visit, our friends said it was hands down the best meal they have ever had. We were there for the restaurant week menu. Everything is perfection: food, ambiance, service. It’s hard to beat the total package u get at the Dock!
My absolute favorite place to eat in all of the OC. The chef and staff strive to make each dining experience a special one. We brought our guest from out of the country and she was thoroughly pleased with not just the lamb but the ambiance and service. We love The Dock.
The Dock's ambience is wonderful . We were shown to a table right on the water (we'd indicated it was a special occasion for us.) The lobster bisque was very good. The halibut entree was quite good but the duck breast was bland and uninteresting. Presentation of food was lovely and the service was good. This is not an inexpensive meal and I clearly felt that the experience was not a good value on this particular evening. While we may return another time, I could not recommend The Dock to discerning friends based on this experience.
We selected "The Dock" to celebrate my Wife's Birthday after recommendations from her Son and others. We were looking for someplace local, with good atmosphere, quiet, good menu with great food, and an attentive friendly staff. We found all that at "The Dock". We'll be back!
The Dock is a little gem situated on the water of the Newport Bay. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about the wines and menu and the ambiance is wonderful. Usually, I have the rack of lamb which is one of the specialties and is fantastic. On the last visit, I had the filet mignon and it was one of the best I'd ever had, if not the best. The wines are quite pricey but the experience at The Dock is well worthwhile.
We had the best dining experience at The Dock on Friday night. The ambience was warm and inviting and we had a beautiful view of the harbor.
The food was absolutely amazing! I won’t go into every dish, but the general consensus from our table (and my own experience) was that every dish was delicious and had so many layers of flavors. We loved the roasted baby beet salad and the Spanish Octopus –so tender and flavorful, and the fish of the day – a tender and delicious halibut with risotto. Our meal was paired with some of the best wines we have tasted.
The staff was exquisite and we all said it was the best service we’ve ever had in a restaurant. Our servers Erik and Danielle were the best – so knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Truly first class service and overall wonderful experience.
The dock is truly the pinnacle to which i hold all other fine dining restaurants. When we dined there the other night it was amazing as usual. Danielle and Erik ( our servers) made it a truly memorable evening. Chef prepared some michelin quality dishes in my opinion and their wine selection is also impeccable. For all these reasons we keep coming back to the dock for the majority of our special occasions! Highly recommend!!
Nice restaurant. We went for Sunday brunch. The food was delicious. For 30.00 you choose 2 items. I started with the roasted octopus, very yummy. Then I had the eggs Benedict... very good. They toasted the French bread on the bottom, so it wasnt soggy!
The bloody Mary’s were delicious too! Nice view of the boats floating by!
This was the second time my husband and I dined at The Dock. It has a lovely ambiance, the brother and sister who manage the restaurant are a pleasure to interact with and clearly love what they do. We started with their octopus appetizer and finished with their signature desert. The vanilla ice cream is made in-house and is fabulous!
