Django relies on the history of its building and upscale hotel to give you a great jazz experience but the food and service were lacking. First, my reservation began at 7:15pm but the jazz show didn't start until around 7:40pm. They also charged a cover of $25 per person and then include it in the food bill to trick patrons into paying a tip on the full amount, especially since there is no reminder that the cover charge is included in the final bill anywhere (outside of the itemization). The cocktails were good but we were promptly kicked out at after 2 hours even though the show didn't start until later that evening.
Amazing place! The waitress from Morocco (I forgot her name) Varesca I guess, she is incredible, she is so sweet and amazing service by her.
I love the music, the place…
I love the Django for the atmosphere and great jazz. The management however could do with some improvements. I had booked in advance and even added a note to my booking that I was coming to celebrate my partner’s birthday and to give us a nice table closer to the jazz band or in full view of the band and also to bring the dessert I order in the end with a birthday candle. Unfortunately not one of these requests was honored without me having to ask and almost beg for them in person. When I got there, they tried to seat us at a table all the way in the back room with hardly any view of the jazz band even though there were still some empty tables with better views. But because they want to reserve the best seats with full view for larger groups, they don’t want to move them apart to accommodate couples. I had to make a stink and ask the waitress to check our reservation notes and speak with the manager to try to accommodate the fact that this was to celebrate a birthday. Finally after speaking with her manager, the table materialized. For the dessert, I had to ask for a candle which spoiled the whole surprise and bday moment. This shouldn’t have happened. Management needs to get with it and train staff on this kind of stuff. Most people who drop over $200 in two hours are there to celebrate. Regardless they could take a moment to read the rez notes. You’d think they’d be more cognizant. Anyway, despite that, the design of the space and the jazz was worth it in the end. But I’d think twice before coming here to celebrate a special occasion unless I was coming with a group.
Music was outstanding! Fantastic bands performed and we had a fabulous time. Service was not that good, drinks took a while to be served and the waiter wasn’t very friendly. Food was ok.
Great jazz club with dining.
Went here for NYE and it was a horrible experience. From the food…the incompetent service…the unorganized jazz band that played that night. Ruined my NYE 2022! Thumbs down
I love the Django and I probably go every other month. I love everything there usually. I was there for the NYE celebration last night and I have to say the food was not the best last night. Sauce for crab cake was soooo over powering and salty I had to scrape it off. The turbot fish dish had scale on the skin every bite I took I had to spit out the scale. It was gross. Steak dish my bf got was very good tho. So I’d say considering they are usually very good, some inconsistencies were happening in the kitchen last night.
All in all, The Django is great.
Was the best NYE experience I’ve had in years
The Music was much too loud and distorted.
We tried to point it out but were not taken seriously by the staff and manager.
We did not feel it was our night but the lead singer’s. He repeatedly hushed at the audience.
We payed a lot of money to please his ego, and we only got arrogance and disrespect from the staff.
We had a great time. The cocktails and for were delicious. The music was wonderful and as well. No complaints at all. In fact, I hope to become a regular there.
The service was awful. Our drinks took 40 mins because they were out of one of the cocktails. I asked to make an adjustment to one of the drinks and the sever said no changes could be made because drinks are “pre batched” so how it took 40 mins to make a pre batched drink is beyond me. My boyfriend also ordered food before the rest of us (he placed his order first not knowing the rest of the party hadn’t decided on food) but said to wait to put it in. It showed up before the rest of us were able to even get an order in. It then took another 20 mins to flag the server down to place our order. Last, my boyfriend and other friend each ordered a drink. My friends came, my boyfriend’s didn’t and we were asked to leave because if another reservation (I had made this reservation weeks in advance and it was still under the 2 hour time limit). Awful experience.
Great live performance and staff was really good. Was a shame that we only had 1.5hrs on the table as would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the performance.
Great experience! Great place, great food and great music. I just didn’t give it 5 stars because they make you leave before the show is over.
Great food. Great music. Great vibes. Staff seems to be slightly short handed but overall a great experience. Ordered half dozen oysters, club steak, Atlantic salmon, and warm apple tart. All great options just a little smaller in size than I would have hoped (all pictured)
Great venue for jazz
Great room with fantastic energy! Amazing crowd from 25-60. Bartender deserves a 10. Couldn’t ask for a better small venue.
Went to The Django with my boyfriend during our event NYC trip and we had an INCREDIBLE time. Great venue, fantastic musicians, and pretty good food. You’re paying for the experience more so than the food here, but you will most certainly have a great time!
We had a great time! Service, food & Gotham Kings were fabulous!
Wonderful experience!! Will return again!!
Nice place, Nice staff, amazing music ali rounds, loved the ambience.
Best place for jazz in the city. Great, friendly staff.
Arguably the best jazz club in NYC. Terrific cocktails. Great music. Highly recommended.
The service was absolutely horrible. Took over 45 minutes to get a check. The hostess was extremely rude and hostile. Great music, but would not bring guests back due to the attitudes of the staff.
Due to what appears to be a shortage of staff, we waited 45 minutes to order a second round of drinks and instead of assisting us the waiter arrived with the check. So we just left. We would have ordered more if anyone had come by our table. It is a beautiful venue and great music, but please get it together with the staffing.
Pricey but you get what you pay for: they don’t skimp on cocktails and the food options are pretty wide. Service is helpful and accommodating asking me for my seating preference. I left my credit card and it had immediately gone to the manager who handed it to me on my return. A really nice experience.
Very nice jazz club with a fantastic jazz band . I higly recommand this place.
First time to Django and loved the room. Though I ate lightly, what I had was well prepared and presented. Staff was pleasant and attentive, and also did a good job keeping the audience noise to a minimum so we could hear the band. Looking forward to my next visit. Thanks to all.
Nos cobraron 90 dolares por una copa de vino y un cocktel por 40 minutos que duró el concierto
Had a lovely time - only negative feedback is that they have a time limit on the tables, which we knew going into the evening, but ended up being sort of off-putting in the moment. We had ordered a couple of drinks and a full meal and that still wasn't enough time to finish our glasses of wine before we were told we needed to vacate the table. They were very nice about it but it felt tacky to ask guests to leave in the middle of the first music set and while they still had wine in their glasses. I'd switch the policy to having your table reservation lasting for the entirety of the first set instead of 90 minutes (especially because there is a $20 cover charge per person).
Band was great!
Amazing. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful night listening to talented jazz musicians, good food, and a atmosphere that’s just totally unique. You feel like you’re in a movie. My wife and I loved it!
Great night as always at The Django. Fantastic ambience, service, and of course the music was superb. Televana! Make them a regular at the venue, please. Such exciting and excellent musicianship, and by the end people were dancing.
(My only negative is the food selection; almost nothing vegan. Please consider adding many more vegan options...or even going completely vegan, as more and more restaurants are doing. Diet is one area that we need not be "retro".)
We had an amazing time! Life music was fantastic and overall experience was great! We will be coming back
Place was nice, waitress were polite and friendly. However, had a bad experience with the Man who manages the hostess or it’s a second host.
I had reservation for 7 and not enough seats, ok. The friendly staff was trying to figure out and one of them told me to speak with this specific guy who Manages the tables( the hostess was a women)
When I approached to try to talk he literally told me SHiShhhhh
and gesticulating to go away.
A manager in a place like that can’t ever talk to a customer in that way, he was arrogant and totally unprepared to solve SMALL things like seating.
He was in one point gesticulating and stressed talking to me and the hostess. One of my guest saw that and she was HORRIFIED and told me how rude he was. He later apologized, but at that point I was mad.
My night turned out good because I was with a group of friends and the Waitress were so nice and friendly.
I came here with my husband to celebrate his birthday and I must say this was an amazing experience. This was our first time seeing a live jazz band and they were awesome. We were even able to converse with one of the musicians. We will definitely come back to this establishment. We did not have to wait long at all for a table and they gave us one of the best seats.
Had such a wonderful time. Surprised my husband for date night. The music was lovely, the food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. Felt you were transported away from NYC.
Great entertainment and beautiful atmosphere. The only drawback is that your table reservation is only for 1.5 hours, so you can’t watch the full show of the band you came to see!
Fix this, please!
This is the second time visiting Django. The band was much better last time. We ordered drinks and deserts. Not a lot of selection. I will go back but depending on who is playing.
The django did not disappoint!!! Took my husband there to celebrate his b day! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! We’ll be back!
The place is great! But be aware of the $20 cover + 2 drinks minimum per person and crazy expensive food. Also after 1 hour and a half they kick you out. Also they ask you to “lower your voice” if you are talking with your friends because of “echo”
