The Dining Room at Brentwood Bay Resort and Spa Ratings and Reviews
We were very happy with our experience at the Brentwood Bay Restaurant. Food was amazing, the ambiance was beautiful and the service was good.
One thing though, I felt like our server was polite and gave good service, but we could both tell that he was trying to rush everything. Not sure if he just had a lot of tables to take care of that night but he spoke very very fast and was very rushed.
We encountered extreme waiting times (2 1/2 hours for a 3 course menu). Took more than 1/2 hour until we had a drink after we arrived. The fish dish was partly bland, partly overcooked , did not showcase the flavours listed on the menu. The chicken dish was good and the lamb dish had a rather dry potato cut in 3 slices which was listed differently on the menu.
We went with a Groupon and as such you get mini portions (as per staff, Groupon guests get smaller portions than 'regular' guests). All in all, it was not worth a Cent more than what we paid. I'd say that's marketing gone wrong as happy guests come back as full payers.
Dirty table to start with. The waiter tried his best but was overwhelmed with too many tables to serve. He kept apologizing for the waiting time but not once were we offered a small amuse gueule or simply a refill of the bread basked as a gesture to compensate for all the waiting. We all paid our drinks by credit card and the waiter just left each time one of us punched in their PIN and then it took another 5 minutes until he returned and enabled the next person to pay. I have been to many restaurants and never have I seen a waiter not wait at the table the few seconds it takes to enter a PIN. A manager in training showed up minutes before we left rather than after we complained during the meal. All in all a very sad performance of a highly rated dining room of a first class hotel. Lots of room for improvement.
We went to the dinig room at the lodge. We arrived at 7:45 and ordered tuna and salmon sashimi to start, after we both had the lamb. The sashimi was nice and fresh (I find they always do a good job with their sashimi). We then waited until 9pm for our main. The restaurant was not busy, so I have no idea why it took so long. Our server came to ask if we would like more bread, and we said yes. 15minutes later and still no bread he comes back, again he asks if we would like more bread. We say "yes please (not mentioning the fact he'd already asked.) Again, he doesnt bring the bread. 9pm, our meal comes, and we have to ask "can we get some bread with our meal please". It was strange. All in all it was just "OK". The lamb was nice but nothing special and not worth waiting an hour for.
THE SETTING OF THIS RESTAURANT IS WIDE OPEN OFF THE LOBBY OF THE LODGE, SEATING WAS COMFORTABLE, WE WERE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FIREPLACE WHICH WAS NICE, BUT STILL FELT CHILLY IN THE ROOM. THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AS WAS THE THREE COURSE TASTING MENU. WISH THE PUB SIDE OF THE BRENTWOOD LODGE OFFERED MORE VARIETY IN THEIR MENU OR SOME DINNER SPECIALS. THE PUB SIDE HAS A MORE COZY FEEL TO THE ROOM.
We have been to the pub side before, but this was our first dining experience at Brentwood. It was a Groupon for a taster menu and it was delicious! Katherine was a very attentive server who made valuable suggestions re: menu selections. Would certainly go back.
I wish I could remember who our server was - we ate at 9pm on Friday, January 20th and he was one of the best servers we ever had; very friendly, attentative without being overbearing, knew everything about the menu, catered to a few special requests and we didn't wait long for the bill to come (my number 1 pet peeve). Because of him, and the high quality food, we'll definitely be coming back.
I forget his name, he had short blonde-ish hair and was incredibly friendly. I gave him a 30% tip and he probably deserved higher.
I've gone here before and never disappointed. Always have amazing service and great food. The hotel rooms are beautiful with ocean and poolside views. Clean, updated, wicked jacuzzi tubs with seperate showers, fireplace and king size beds make for a very comfortable stay. Would highly recommend Brentwood dining room, pub and hotel to anyone.
Had a lovely family dinner at Seagrille. It took them a while to sort themselves out and seat us but they had just opened for dinner at 5:30pm and our reservation was for 5:30pm. Food was delicious and their cocktail list is extensive. My sangria was delicious and flavourful! I've had sangria in other places before and it would taste watered down.
We decided to have our Christmas Eve dinner at The Dining Room at Brentwood Bay Resort.
It's always such a terrific venue! We haven't been in quite a while and it was just as good as we remembered!
The staff are friendly and attentive, the food delicious!
We both had the Christmas Dinner I started with the amazing bisque and my hubby had the oysters. The turkey was good and we loved the potatoes!! Plum pudding was yummy and the rhubarb tart was good, but could have been better.
We were very satisfied and will be back.
Overall, dining at the Brentwood Lodge is a most enjoyable experience. The dining room is beautifully designed, the tables are well spaced, and the fireplace is most welcoming on a cold night. The view is outstanding. We went there with a Groupon and we were given 2 choices of starters, 3 options for the main course and 2 dessert options. My dinner was delicious; the caprese salad, lamb sirloin, and creme brûlée were well presented and tasty. While the portions were not large, none of us felt hungry at the end of the meal. My husband did not enjoy his soup as it had little flavour. The server was pleasant and attentive although the kitchen staff seemed a tad slow that night as we waited a full hour before receiving our entree.
On a negative note, the room temperature was a little too cool to be comfortable and we noticed a few people folding their arms in an attempt to feel warmer. The front doors that are in line with the dining room create quite a draught when opened and closed.
Well, I have to say I was disappointed. There was a large party that took up much attention. I realize it is holiday time but knowing that, there should have been more wait staff. We waited far to long for our shared plates. Scallops were excellent but the halibut bites tho tastes were dry. Tapenade is tapanad. Our mains were okay. My son had the lamb which he enjoyed and his girlfriend had and enjoyed the tuna. My husband had the pasta - okay and I had the deconstructed shrimp and avocado salad. I thought my shrimp were too cold - like my salad had just been removed from the fridge. The staff were doing their best but ...., but for the price and 'reputation' I would have and do expect more. Lovely setting and a festive feel but terribly disappointed. I doubt we will be back.
The table reserved was not what we wanted but our waiter, Nolan, quickly made the adjustment. The food was great, and service, by Nolan, impeccable. A lovely evening in a magnificent location. We frequent the pub often, and enjoy the dining room for special occasions. Our second visit this month to the dining room.
We had a fabulous time out for dinner at Seagrille. The only hiccup in our otherwise lovely evening was that our server disappeared for a solid 20-30 minutes while we were eating our entres. We sat with empty plates on the table for a long time waiting to order dessert.
