We enjoyed our meal. The food was wonderful. It is a great way to support the future chefs of the world.
Great experience. We even had a kitchen tour. Will go again when in Phoenix.
For the price ($30), you can't beat it. The students are very enthusiastic and the presentation is very creative. The portions are just fine for the average person. The students are driven to please you.
It was fun watching the students perform their duties. Each has to work the different positions required to run a restaurant. Our waitress had made the rolls we had with our meal and the hostess, after we mentioned how much we enjoyed the chocolate served for desert, said she had made it. My only complaint was that the salad was too light on dressing, and as accommodating as they were, I could have asked for more and they would have given it. All in all, a fun night.
We enjoyed all the courses; very good meal. Zoe was a very attentive server, as well.
We had a wonderful time as always. We would have liked to see something out of the box and different in the food choices.
The students do a wonderful job and everything we tasted was excellent except for the rolls. My entrée was amazing and my husband appreciated that the three different desserts were included so he did not have to choose, smile
Food was a culinary masterpiece and service was outstanding!
Our sewing group goes to Desert Oasis every year as a special treat. We all enjoy sampling the excellent food the students prepare. We love to support the students, and enjoy talking with them.
I really enjoy the fact that we are helping the students. Their work and effort is exceptional, and the food has always been wonderful.
Have been trying this place a few times per year now and always have great experience.
The students are great and have lots of passion for the food and service. Always greeted with a smile.
Disappointed that certain dishes had run after ordering them.
We have been going here for several years. Whenever friends come for a visit we try to go. We have not been disappointed.
For the past several years I have set up several dinners for a group I belong to. This time it was closed out within 1.5 hours of sending an email so I had to expand with added dates. How good it is get’s around.
I had the lamb combo which I enjoyed immensely. The dessert is to die for. Too true maybe. Very enjoyable, prior to last year you chose a specific dessert. Now it is a combo. Choice was always difficult. After we were all finished they come out with another dessert for the table. Also good.
The only complaint was the soup is NEVER hot. That is after many years of attending. It was still tasty. If that is the only problem keep up the good work.
The price is very reasonable. Please do not get carried away with that info. We used to do this in Evanston IL they started to increase pries too much. They became too full of themselves.
My group will be attending several more times for which I am sure will be wonderful.
The students were so professional that one would never guess they were new in the business. Every course in the 5 course dinner was delicious and well presented. Price were unbelievable For the value. Great intimate candle light quaint atmosphere. Highly recommend for locals as well as visitors to enjoy this unique dining experience.
My wife and I dine regularly at the restaurant. The food is wonderful. The service is very good. The atmosphere is quiet. good for special occasions and intimate dining.
I cannot recommend the restaurant any stronger than I am. The value is fantastic.
We enjoyed each course. I thought the lobster bisque was a little on the thick side and perhaps a bit too heavy on the salad dressings but overall it was super delicious! My prime rib came out perfectly cooked and my husband loved his salmon! The service was fantastic and very attentive! The desserts were wonderful and just the right amount after such a huge meal. We will definitely dine there again and again!
This is a great place to take guests. The food is all prepared by the Culinary School students. The table is very nicely set with nice tablecloth and napkins. It is a wonderful place go to in order to support the community and the students in the Culinary School. The food is always good, not perfect but you need to understand that these are students and they are practicing their cooking and baking skills. Wonderful to be able to talk to the students and ask them questions about their experience at the school and their goals.
I have been going to Desert Oasis for over 25 years. With students in the kitchen sometimes it's good, sometimes not so good. On this occasion everything was good from the service to the food.
There have been some changes in the last year – no more parade desserts for example. And I understand more changes are coming for next year. When the changes will be the price. I hope you can still stay reasonable because that is a big selling point – a five course meal for a reasonable price
Everything is prepared by the culinary school students. Table is set very nicely and students are very pleasant. Presentation of food is well done. It certainly gives the students the opportunity to interact with the customers and also gives the opportunity to practice different aspects of the restaurant industry.
An excellent meal with impeccable service. The lamb trio was exceptional as was the seafood appetizer .
The Artichoke Grill is entirely staffed and run by the culinary students at Scottsdale Community College, but from the food you’d never know it! Tantalizing food pairings with gorgeous presentation!
My friends and I each ordered a different item, and we shared with each other. The Shitake burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of burgers! It was a wonderful combination of flavors, a very sophisticated rendering far beyond your typical burger. The potato wedges paired with them were a delight, with a light horseradish inspired seasoning. So good!!
The sea bass was delicately flavored, and the thyme seasoned potato cake made a “perfect bite” with it. While it wasn’t my favorite dish among the three, it was a favorite for one of my friends. I’m not a big fan of thyme, but they both loved the thyme!
The hits entree was a chicken salad sandwich with a tomato ragout. The chicken salad was exactly what a person expects from chicken salad. No surprises — just chicken salad as it should be. The aspect that bumped it into WOW range was the roll it was on, which was soft but chewy, the perfect texture to accompany the chicken salad. That pairing of bread and filling made this sandwich shine. And while the chicken salad had no surprises to it, the tomato ragout had a delightful kick of pepper that spiced up the plate.
What a wonderful gem of a lunch at a fantastic price. Too bad we were too full for the dessert sampler because it looked divine!
Flat iron steak was delicious. Deserts out of this world. Love the rye mix bread, tasty! Both salads were very good! Mocktails were a mix of berries , grapefruit and cranberry with sparkling soda. Refreshing!
The students did an excellent job in preparation and serving. I will return.
My boyfriends steak was so salty he could not eat but a couple of bites. He did mention it.
Service was slow and food was not very good. Probably won’t be going back.
we had ants on our table and I wasn't to happy about it but otherwise everything was great but i also wish there was more drink choices
We love this place. Where else can you get a good 5 course meal for $25 per person. We have started going 4 times a year. We have even started taking our 2 kids with us and they enjoy the food and the staff treats us very well. It is also great to support the learning of the students both on the cooking side and the serving side of things.
We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Artichoke Grill. The bread basket was very impressive containing 6 different homemade things in it, cranberry muffin, banana bread, large crackers with sesame seeds on it, to name a few. The dessert sampler had 3 desserts and the taste and presentation rivaled any high end restaurant in the valley. My husband enjoyed his lamb with polenta, although the lamb was a bit fatty. My Monte Cristo sandwich was good but could've been warmer as I believe it's supposed to be a warm sandwich. This is an actual school so perfection is not expected but it sure came very close to it. We are returning in a few weeks to see what other deliciousness they are cooking up.
booked one month in advance and was looking forward to having a fish
dinner dover sole with shrimp however after we were seated the waiter
went to the back and returned to tell us they were out of it .This was
special occasion as it was my wife's birthday what shame it turned out
like that. The new manager only offered steak as a substitute neither
one of us eat meat. Should be compensated for the discrepancy we
drove quite a distance to get to the restaurant . Thanks for the
memorable experience. you made or Friday night miserable.
dishes that should have been hot were cold. I asked for medium on the beef and it came very rare. Sent it back and got the same beef very rare.
5 course dinner and great service provided by SCC Culinary School students. All of the food we tasted was excellent . We try to eat here 2-3 times during their season from October to May. Always a treat and and only $25 without drinks or tip.
In spite of advising restaurant and waitperson of allergy to mushrooms, food was served covered with mushrooms. She didn't eat any but later had severe attack as apparently they used mushrooms in the lobster bisque. Second meal at Oasis with same outcome. One would think at a school about food, the staff would know what they put into their meals🤔
My wife and I had an excellent dinner at the Desert Oasis. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, polite, and personable. Tanner was our server and his service was professional and enjoyable. Our only dislike was the prime rib. It was not as flavorsome as we would have expected. All of the others dishes were excellent.
We will certainly be back next semester. We have told several friends about the Oasis.
Our group has dined at the Desert Oasis at least once a year because the group members both support and enjoy student efforts. This year's experience was disappointing because the kitchen ran out of the entrée most of us had intended to order. In past years, students visited each table and presented the dessert they'd created. Diners would then select their desserts from those featured. This year there were no individual student presentations, no Q & A opportunities with the students, and dessert was a tray of 3 different and not necessarily desired items. Given these factors, each member of the group felt the meal was too expensive.
Great as usual. Excellent food and service. Really liked the quail appetizer, and the beef Wellington was outstanding. The students are very accommodating.
A great time was had by all who attended our dinner. We always enjoy ourselves there.
we love this place. Unique menus, students do everything and that makes it interesting and fun
Very enjoyable meal, excellent food prepared as requsted, great presention.
Our server, Tanner was knowledgeable and attentive.
We spent time talking as the atmosphere was conducive for conversion. Great!
We'll be back.
Keep up this program, great for the community
Thank you
The service and food were really great. Tony did a nice job. Kept our drinks full and was attentive.
We love coming here. The food is delicious and we try some foods that we haven't tried before. Everyone there is friendly and we would go more often if it was closer to where we live.
