Would highly recommend. Beautiful building.
Good food boot value.n
Great place to go for a date night .
Yet another wonderful meal at the Dering Arms!
The food, service and ambience are second to none and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Worth a drive to get there or take a train like me if you can as it is literally almost inside Pluckley station.
First time here and it won’t be the last. Wonderful menu, absolutely delicious fish, great service and excellent wine. Our new local favourite.
We are out of towners to this place but unlike other country pubs we were made to feel welcome The food was absolutely outstanding, probably the best we’ve had. Our homemade gin and tonic was very good as well ( shame I was driving). Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
Great local food and great local beer as always 👌 👍
We did not feel rushed or overcrowded. Food was good, service friendly but inexperienced. No vegetarian option
Excellent seafood served in wonderful surroundings.
Food: Sardines followed by an enormous Lemon Sole. Chorizo followed by Tuna Steak. Everything beautifully cooked and served without any fuss.
An excellent venue for my wife's birthday lunch.
Understated, welcoming and deceptively good cooking awaits you at The Dering Arms. A particular strength is their 'specials' board laden with fish dishes. And there is a very practised hand in the kitchen that certainly knows how to honour the best that halibut, sea bass, bream, crab and so on have to offer. Very good; very hidden away; very worthwhile seeking out. PerM
My wife and I had a most enjoyable lunch the food was fresh, tasty and looked great. Would not hesitate to recommend the Dering Arms
Amazing restaurant and beautiful food.
Would highly recommend.
High quality food and wine at a reasonable price. Friendly service. Will definitely go back.
Absolutely superb! Gorgeous historic building, lovely decor, perfect service, & delicious food! And good value for the quality. A fabulous find, will definitely return 🙂
Exceptional freshly cooked fish dishes, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Be prepared to wait for your food as it is all freshly prepared and cooked.
We had a wonderful meal. We all ate fish and everyone’s meal was fantastic. Friendly staff and we felt very safe.
There is nowhere within ten miles that has consistently maintained the vey high standards of The Dering Arms.If you like fish this is for you .The Hake is out of this world. The beer and wine also outstanding.Thevrib eye and duck pretty good too
Perfect family lunch to celebrate son’s graduation.
Perfection personified at reasonable prices especially fish Hale wonderful .Same owner for over30 years who enjoys food and wine
The Oysters were fresh but were not served on ice so I had to eat them quickly. The prawns...some were good some were very dry almost like they were double cooked. My partner said the rainbow trout was very good. The Lemon Posset was not set, very liquid. I have asked for another one and was told Lemon Posset was like this. Service was not very amicable. Paper napkins were provided before the meal arrived and it was asked that we used them instead of the linen ones in order “to save a napkin”. I left with mixed feelings, with the impression that the place was once a great place to eat. Wish them good luck, but I don’t think I’ll come back.
Having recently moved to the area we are really pleased to have stumbled across this treasure. The food is cooked to order and is delicious. We noted a couple of reviewers complained about waiting, but what do you expect when someone is cooking everything from scratch. We have since visited on two other occasions with friends and family and everyone has commented to the taste and quality of the produce. The house beer is really good too. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Such a fantastic place, great ambience and the food and drink are amazing. The best Dover Sole I've ever tasted and a superb selection of quality wines to choose from. The owner and staff all really helpful, friendly and on top of everything. Totally recommended as a great night out for couples, friends and family. Definitely the best for miles around.
We took a friend for a birthday lunch, horrible weather, but a warm welcome and bright fire once inside.
Very quiet, not a busy lunch time but nice relaxed atmosphere.
Food was excellent and have already recommended the Dering Arms to friends.
Excellent starter of shell-on prawns, followed by Dover Sole, supported by an extensive & reasonably priced wine list. The apple tart was O.K. but not quite up to the standard of what went before.
Great fresh produce good local beer all served in a nice local with open fires
A wonderful lunch and beautiful fish. One of the best meals I’ve had for a long time. The whole experience was excellent - we will return on a regular basis.
Great food and a nice atmosphere and the beer was good as well!!
The usual brilliant experience at this great pub. You will love it.
It was a lovely meal , not sure if it was because it was just after Christmas.but we were the only 4 in the pub & could have done with a little background light music of sorts as it was extremely quiet, food was lovely though
A good lunch with old friends. All the dishes apparently prepared to order, which is very good. House wine was very good too.
Unfortunately a large shooting party arrived not long after we had finished our main course and the staff became so busy that we ran out of time, otherwise we would have stayed for dessert, cheese and coffee.
We eat at The Dering Arms regularly for very good reason: the food is exceptional; the wine list is superb; the service, first-rate; the ambiance warm and welcoming. All-in-all, we cannot recommend it highly enough.
We always enjoy our trips to The Dering Arms. Wonderful restaurant & food with friendly staff. Highly recommend.
If you like fish this is a good place to go as they have quite a number of options and it always seems fresh. Specials board a little disappointing as it doesn't seem to change much which is a shame. Also it would be good if the veg was included instead of having to order separately. Always seems quiet but usually go durng the week so don't know if it is different at the weekends. All in all great to visit if you like fish and are happy to pay a little more for good food.
Thursday lunchtime, and we were the only guests, which is a shame because the food at the Dering Arms is very good and our young waitress attentive and engaging. My pal always goes for the Sussex smokie and sea-bass. I opted for mulligatawny soup, which was less spicy than I'm used to, and an excellent hake with prawns in a butter sauce. We go at least once a month, and I always travel by train - the station is a short walk from the pub.
Picked this restaurant for friends visiting the UK who only eat fish.
There was a great choice of food and it was delicious.
Excellent food in a lovely setting! Fish and seafood are their specialty and I could see and taste why! My friend has the chicken liver starter and lamb shank and said they were both lovely too, so not just for fish eaters.
Disappointing visit as the menu option we chose was not available even though it was on the ‘specials’ board. Apparently that meal had not been ‘prepped’! Otherwise the food was ok, but no ‘wow’ factor. Nice wine selection and good service, but the whole experience just didn’t do it for us. Our second visit, the first was excellent, hence our return but not sure now about returning.
Difficult to add to my view apart from the fact we had a pleasant time having lunch at the Dering Arms
The Dering Arms unfortunately did not live up to its reviews. We were seated in a large room on our own, which felt like we were an inconvenience. My starter was good as was my main but reading the in house literature we expected something special. My husband ordered a second drink which he did not receive.
We did not order a dessert and left promptly.
Outstanding food- if you love fish visit here
We enjoyed the whole experience for our sons birthday. The food was amazing, I particularly enjoyed the sardines and wonderful sea bass. It is so close to us in distance, yet have not visited for a long time, we will definitely return soon.
Visited for dinner, can’t recommend this enough, I had the sea bass special, liked it so much went back a few days later and had it again! I’m going to try staying overnight soon, food superb, location lovely, good for a romantic or family event..try it,it’s awesome
