The food was fantastic and the service was good. I was disappointed in the tea selection--I drink tea every day, and the teas they had were extremely strong/too much caffeine, giving me a stomach ache immediately.
Also, it is a very small place, and several of the groups were quite loud, and the tables are right on top of each other, so I was most disappointed by the ambiance. For the price, I would appreciate a quieter environment with fewer tables. They have it decorated nicely, like a formal British tea room, but because of the loud crowd and the cramped-together tables, it felt more like I was at a bar than having afternoon tea.
The food was a little disappointing although the scones were delicious...tea selections were great. Service was great. Was a little surprised to find bits of loose tea in my napkin when first sitting down. Also surprised that table cloths weren't pressed, given that it was a specialty tea location. The decor and ambiance was lovely. The music sounded strange and ominous and was a little loud.
This was a special place for a Sunday afternoon high tea with friends. The food was delicious and presented on a lovely bone china tiered plate set. The teas were wonderful, too, and served in delicate cups to match the plates. The service was great and we had a lovely time.
Excellent customer service and amazing gluten-free nibbles.
Fantastic room and wonderful service. The tea started with a truly outstanding potato leek soup. The tea sandwiches came with a crostini and small piece of quiche. Both quite good. The only downside was the most important part of a cream tea. The scones were heavy and under baked and the cream was Chantilly cream and not the clotted cream one usually receives. What a letdown after an otherwise wonderful experience.
I had a few issues with The Denver Tea Room.
First of all, I made a reservation. I have never skipped out on one. It was very inconvenient when the staff called me at NINE IN THE MORNING ON A SUNDAY ON THE TURN OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. I understand that confirming reservations is important at a busy place and I assumed it was busy because it requires reservations 24 hours+ ahead of time.
By the way, when they say “The Denver Tea ROOM” they really mean it. There is an awkward lobby space with an adjacent coffee bar. The room itself is behind two awkward doors that ther server struggled with through our visit.
When we arrived, the coffee barista made our experience confusing. I arrived right on time and let the barista know that I was there, but they couldn’t help. They were pleasant, but I still had to wait around awkwardly with another party before I was seated by the SINGLE person on staff.
During service, the single server seemed over their head although the restaurant was not even close to full capacity. On my arrival, we were one of two or three tables in the room. I don’t understand why we weren’t expected, or seated promptly; not only is it reservation-required, I had even called from a block away because I was confused of it’s location.
Be advised that The Denver Tea Room is next-door neighbors with an insurance agent in the ground level of an apartment complex (also, when I called the person who answered couldn’t even name the complex.)
What’s worse is that the service left much to be expected. For example, they only checked on us 2-3 times. Our tea kettle ran dry twice without timely refilling. It’s literally called The Denver Tea Room and somehow tea took a backseat. Moreover, the food was microwaved or toaster-warmed at absolute best. Not worth the $30 sticker price for the high-tea tasting menu.
The other party from before had the sense to leave within 5 minutes of sitting down. I think they had the right idea.
Having read reviews i knew the service was going to be a bit slow, and Tea is meant to be taken slowly but yes they are a bit slow. Otherwise it was delightful, charming dining room, really great food, nice strong tea.
Always enjoy it!
My friends and I get together here once a month and absolutely love it. The food is always excellent, the service is personal and helpful. It is both a special afternoon out and a comfortable place to catch up with friends.
We love the Denver Tea Room! Always fantastic food, great service & wonderful tea!
This is my third time here! I absolutely love it. The staff is kind and very helpful. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is charming!
What a special treat. My mom had never been to tea and I’m so glad we came here. The food was delicious and so was the tea. Would love to come back again.
The tea room is very pretty and very quiet. Only one other group in the room. The food was good, but only the scones were outstanding. I asked about a tea that I had had there and they were out, server suggested another but they were also out of that one and they did not have any scone mix, that they usually have to purchase. For the price, the Brown Palace is much better.
We celebrated our sister's birthday with a fabulous tea! We enjoyed it so much, we will definatley be back!
Simply a delightful 11am high tea with all the trappings: creamy soup starter; next a buttery scone with lemon curd, strawberry jam and clotted cream; finally, a three-tiered tray with cucumber sandwiches, mini Roast Beef sandwiches, and lovely sweet treats on top.
The selection of teas is amazing!
Very quiet and relaxing. Fun to indulge. The mint green room was beautiful.
Wanted to take my 5 year old granddaughter to tea for her first time. Another location was completely booked and we found the Denver Tea Room. What a great find!! The location is in a new building, yet the inside of the tearoom is very traditional. At the time of our visit, they were still honoring the holiday season and the tea room was decorated nicely for the season. They were extremely kind and accommodating for my granddaughter, offering her decaf tea and lemonade. The initial food item was a crust free turnkey pie. Everyone loved it. The we had our tower, with cucumber sandwich, chicken salad on pumpkin bread, scones, and sweet treats. The teas were also festive for the season. My granddaughter, and daughter loved it--and so did I. Wonderful memories and will definitely return!!
We had a lovely time at high tea. Staff was very attentive and all of the food was very good if not exceptional. The tea was delicious and there is a variety for sale as well. It would be the very spot to take an elderly mother to tea or another special someone who enjoys a "tea" atmosphere. They were decorated for Christmas and had a Christmas menu when we were there. They also offer cocktails which is a nice addition to the traditional tea. A baby shower or bridal shower would be fun here as well. A little pricey for the offerings...
The Denver Tea room is a fun place to bring your family to enjoy tea and pastries. The food was great and they were accommodating to my 12 year old vegetarian daughter.
This was our first Afternoon Tea experience.
Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately, and ushered to our table after only a few moments. The dining room was cheery and festive. Our table was beautifully decorated, and our server was prompt and offered suggestions for the specialty teas. Our tea arrived, and the food shortly thereafter. The cottage pie was very good - hot!!! - followed by the tier of treats.
We were able to easily converse as the room was relatively quiet (that is a bonus, these days!).
We enjoyed every moment and will return, as well as recommend the Tea Room to our friends and family.
The Tearoom did not disappoint! I found this wonderful little gem on a at whim google search, and am SO glad I did. I already know multiple friends I want to take back here. The food was absolutely excellent, and so much considering the value. The tea was continually refreshed and the ambiance and decorations (we went during Christmas!) were beautiful. I would have wished our sweet server not have to carry so much of the dining room herself, however, even amidst her busyness she was extremely attentive. Meeting the manager was a extra plus. You could tell she was in this business because of her love for tea and hospitality, it shows!
Cozy, nice ambience, good food and attentive service.
We had a nice tea. They were very sweet to our little people. The tea was not piping hot, though. While the food was good, the service was a bit slow. I thought it was a bit expensive for what it was.
We had so much fun! Tea selections were great and the food and sweets were really good.
We love this place!! We do a girls get together once a month for tea here and love it every time. The people are nice, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is amazing.
Very good service and a wonderful traditional afternoon tea.
We had a party of 7 and had a wonderful time. Food excellant, service wonderful. Overall a wonderful experience.
Setting and aumbiance were great! My wife and I do afternoon teas all over the country as she is English. Overall this was a great place. The servicer was great! The tea was good and the food was good. My only thought of what could have been a bit better was a larger variety of foods served on the food pyramid for afternoon tea. Three bite size sandwiches, one scone, and three small deserts.
A quaint little get-away for friends to gather for celebrations! Great food and great service!
Always enjoy coming to the tea room
Butternut Squash soup was delicious and served hot. I especially enjoyed the Quiche. Good flavor. The cream scone was fresh and warm. I also bought a bag of Crème Scones from the super market to enjoy at home another day. I attended the Summer Tea at the Denver Botanic Gardens. I enjoyed the entire presentation given by the owner and her daughter's. Good job ladies!
I've been here twice, with about 1.5 years between visits. Second time was yesterday. Both times it was enjoyable, both times the decor was lovely, both times the service was friendly and satisfactory, and both times the food was pretty typical tasty afternoon tea fare. I took mom (age 73) this last time, and she had a wonderful time. We were both stuffed after a small bowl of soup, a scone with cream and sweets, and then 3 savory bites. Neither of us had room for the sweets at the end! I actually had only one complaint. My tea was too weak. It appears that they prepare the tea and THEN bring it your table, so unlike other places where it continues to steep and get stronger over time (fine by me), it is as strong as it will be when they bring it out. We ordered the same tea, so only one pot came out, and strength was predetermined. Mom loved it, as she likes a weaker cup of tea, but I like mine stronger. No, I didn't say anything there. They probably could have made a stronger pot for me if I'd ask....Next time I'll speak up!
The Denver Tea Room never disappoints. If you want to experience High Tea for a bit more affordable cost, this is the place. The food is always tasty and with their variety of teas there is something for everyone. (Or you can get coffee if you prefer). And the cream scones are the best! Great place for quiet conversation with friends.
You can't ask for anything more !
Delicious food, beautiful decor and music.
Excellent servers, with outstanding management !!
The tea was excellent but the service less than expected. Our waitress was very nice but busy with three afternoon tea tables and dealing with anyone coming into the coffee bar. The food was good but portions a bit small for the price. I realize some would think this means I'm not familiar with afternoon tea but I've had it many places. I would possibly return but maybe at a time when they are better staffed.
The Denver Tea Room has the most wonderful afternoon teas. Absolutely everything Margo cooks up is a little slice of heaven. This is my daughter and my favorite place... there are many different themed teas as well, e.g. Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, book club, Christmas and more. I highly recommend The Denver Tea Room.
Husband is half British, we know our high tea. The best thing about this place is their scones. Their chilled Strawberry soup was doable. You can skip everything else, even the tea. They are accommodating, one of our parties was gluten intolerant, but didn't eat most of the gluten free meal.
The ambiance was ok, but we didn't know we would have a Bachelorette party there. Not sure it would be an appropriate place, but hey, we were in Denver and had to try it out.
I took my daughter for a quiet get together. She has to have gluten free and really enjoyed the food as well as the tea! This was my second time here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. I do not like scones, but theirs are wonderful. I got a few to take home with me. So good! We will definitely go again
Wonderful birthday celebration here. Last year we did Brown Palace which was fun, but this is better and about 20 dollars a person cheaper. Food was first rate, lots of tea selections and great service. We will be back!
I made a reservation for my mother-in-law, niece and myself. My mother-in-law enjoys high tea. The tea room was nice enough but the service was slow and our waitress was not very attentive. There was only one other party present when we arrived and 3 parties arrived after us. It took quite a bit of time to be served tea and an even longer wait for our fingers sandwiches. The waitress left the check and never came back to collect, so I went to the register myself. It wasn't terrible, but nothing to write home about either.
Fabulous! Fine dining meets casual cafe. There are food options for everyone, just make sure you call or mark your dietary restrictions on your reservation. Lots of baby and bridal showers throughout the year as well.
